(I was waiting for everyone else to post before posting again gonk )

Jeskin approaches the house and looks through any windows, curious as to what he just heard.

Calgarosh turned to look at the one who murmured. "Actually you were all behind me, so no, you didn't arrive here before me."

He jumped as the crash and roar eminated from the house. "What on earth?" He knocked on the door, before opening it anyway and walking in. "Hello?" He yelled. "Anyone home?"

Slipping his rifle from his shoulder, Sharpe pulls it back one click and follows a few steps behind mouthy.

The Dwarf frowns. "If you gentlemen will excuse me..." And he runs away. In truth, he just went around the house quickly. Once around the house, he finds a bush to hide behind, and removes the overly gaudy overclothing he was wearing. At the same time, his form swiftly changes to that of a Drow, growing in height while he slims down considerably. Under his overclothing was a set of black leather armour, slim and sleek. Skin went from ruddy to black, beard vanished, hair went stark white, and his ears elongated to end in points. Finally, he retrieved a belt he'd hidden behind the house, containing several small weapons, a couple of pouches, and a compact flint and steel 'sparker'. Slinging the nearby shortbow over his shoulder and strapping the slim cork-bottomed quiver of standard arrows(switching one out for a thorn arrow), he moved to sneak in behind the group silently, drawing a black hood and mask over his head. He was the night now.

For those either looking in to the house, or entering in would find a quaint little living room filled with minor nicknacks, the curtains drawn tight along the edges of the window, and a small spattering of furniture strewn across the edges, with the fireplace laying at the far end of the room, the flames dying out as their embers licked the last of the logs that laid within. It looked well lived in.

A single, large sofa sat along the longest wall, in between a pair of windows. Laying next to it, within the near by corner was an overstuffed chair facing the fireplace. The fireplace itself was made of brick, decorated with a number of trinkets, and small sculptures of fey folk; to the direct right of the fire place, within an iron container, a number of fireplace care and cleaning remain--save for the poker, which lays just at the foot of the embers. Opposite of all of this, a small reading table remains next to a window, looking out into the expanse of the woods. A single book lies open on the table. Flanking the fireplace, archways open into what seems to be a dining room on one side and on the other, a hallway that leads to a partially closed door.

Slipping into the cottage, "Hello? Is anyone in here? I am coming in. I warn you. I am armed and any hostile actions will be met with extreme prejudice. This is your fair warning! Civilians are advised to remain calm and stay low to avoid friendly fire!" Staying vigilant, Patrick begins systematically securing the rooms before the others can enter and remains low when rounding corners.

((Not sure if one or two Perception checks are necessary, but the first roll is for the dining room, the second is for the next room. Perception +7))

Antaris tilted his head and went towards the fireplace, though staying back far enough to keep any embers from lighting his dry robes. The poker was in an odd place. Turning to the book, he'd look at it, seeing if any of the words may give insight into what happened.

(If it's possible) Jeskin sees the book and attempts to read it through the window.

(If that wasn't) Jeskin gets a strange feeling that the house is in such a state of calm. He walks inside and takes a look at the book as well.

Calgarosh was a litle surprisd to see that there wasn't anyone in the front room, but the thing that caught his eye was was teh open book on the table. He stepped over to it and picked it up, flipping it to see the cover before going back to the page it was on. "Now what do you suppose the Master of the house is doing right now? To so carelessly leave a book open."
PostPosted: Mon May 23, 2011 11:01 pm
Just moments before Antaris turned to leave the fireplace, the poker that laid upon the slab of stone suddenly jumped to life. It took flight for only a brief second to try and lunge at the man whom moved too close to it, landing a few feet short of landing its mark--ending up balanced on the tip of the handle. Poised to try and lunge once more.

Meanwhile Calgarosh's own efforts to read the book would be thwarted by the very same book snapping shut upon his fingers with a loud CRACK [2 points of damage!]. The pages did not let go of his fingers.

Patrick's calls remained unanswered. Were he to venture into the dining room he'd find another archway that led directly into what looked to be the kitchen; other than the one returning back to the den. Within the room, however, was a quaint little room with a table set for two; with a possible maximum capacity of four people, however only two chairs remain at the table. While mostly bare, there lays a single, silver taper candle sits in the center of the table.
A single large picture window provides a view of the trees outside, providing ample light. Opposite of this lays a fair sized cabinet, holding a number of silverware and plates.

[Go ahead and roll for initiative if you so wish, all.]

"Animated objects. Be careful around things in this room then." He would exit, making his way down the hall while drawing his scythe, in case anything else jumped at him.

Hearing the ruckus, Patrick abandons the kitchen and returns back to the living room. Smirking lightly, Holding his rifle with his left, he heads toward the poker while drawing his longsword....

The individual in black chooses not to partake in this madness, and instead tries to remove himself from the fight with a heavy-handed application of stealth. With all this black he's wearing, in a darkened area, it shouldn't be that hard... Regardless, he heads away from the commotion, to explore the house further.

Calgarosh yelped in pain as the book snapped itself on his fingers. "YOw! What reason do animate objects need to be in someone's home?" He grumbled. He tried to pull the book off, but if he doesn't succede, then he just goes looking for the man who was yelling in the house. "Hello? Is anyone home?"
