This is going to be the only book I ever suggest buying for
helping you learn how to draw:

compared to a sketchbook. <: I think it's perfect for you.

Sorry I haven't updated you with a WIP yet. I was going to last night but my guinea pig died unexpectedly after a visit to the vet, so I'm a little emotional right now.

I will have the WIP uploaded to you by Tuesday for SURE.I haven't worked on it too much, the whole pet-loss thing plus studying has been a bit of a time hog.

Sorry for disappearing, but needless to say I've decided to uh, quit being a mentee. I appreciate your help, but your methods weren't quite right for me.
I don't mean to be offensive, but I do prefer to learn in different ways and I"m sure what you have to offer will be perfect for someone else.

Since you've lost your mentee, would you consider me as well? My name is Alicia. I'm 19 years old and a premedical student. I am a total beginner and haven't had time to seriously practice for awhile, so you'd be a great help to me. I want to learn how to draw in anime style, but realize that you'd want me to practice from real life too (I don't promise you great work, but I will attempt what you ask!) I checked out your gallery, I was impressed by your anime style and also your ability to draw from life when you rendered the hands. I have plenty of time to do what you ask of me. I'm embarrassed about my old artwork, but I can give you a link to an old Photobucket if you want to see roughly where my skill level is.

Hmm what to learn now. Oh how about doing colors properly? When I color something in a cel ish way is never comes out bright enough or pops to please me.I didn't want to use the example since it's your style but I like how bright your pictures turn out, while mine are dull.
Maybe my contrast between shadows isn't high enough, possibly. I haven't even tried using the Gaussian blur yet.

Oh for the last assignment I gave you, the point was to figure out how to get
certain effects with your color choice yes emotion_kirakira though using the right colors
won't be enough to make your pictures pop, they're a good beginning point

You're perfectly allowed to reference others' work to improve your own. As long as you don't post what you copy emotion_awesome

I just took the colors for the left one from one of the pieces in your gallery.
Your assignment is just to figure out how the one on the right
pops out so much LMAO

I have to admit my friend helped me D: I forced her too. On my own I would say that the outline color has some gradient effect which is way better than a normal black line all around. I don't even think the line on the second one is really black but a dark blue. Real dark. The 2nd one also has very nice blending and more colors. Like the first one is very cel but the second one is more paint like.
My friend added that the colors in the second are more vibrant.
