Zuko nodded slightly in acknowledgement of Kallen's apology, but it really wasn't needed as far as he was concerned. Of course, if they were to work closely with one another to run the kingdom, they'd have to learn to understand each other, so he made a mental note to make himself more clear in the future.

The young firelord smiled slightly at Kallen's request and her embarrassed style of speech and motion after she had spoken. He hadn't taken it that way, but perhaps that was because he was in a relationship already. "No harm done, Kallen... and no need to stutter or feel embarrassed. I knew what you meant. And I don't think Mai would mind us going together; she's not really one for festivals anyways," he replied with a kind smile, and didn't think too deeply on his words.

He rubbed his neck with the towel slightly, pulling on either end with his hands as he paused for a moment. "Suppose I should go get cleaned up, I'm sure I don't smell too pleasant right now," he said with another smile before he continued, "I should leave you to your work anyways, Kallen. I'll meet you in my new office after dinner tonight to see how things are going." He parted with a respectful tilt of his hands together in front of him before he left to rid himself of the 'efforts' of his workout and training.

((*jumps for joy* Yay, Wingy's back! razz ))

Kallan bowed respectfully and said, "Thank you, my lord. I will see you later." She waited until he left, then gathered up her palace schematics and headed off to start working on organizing the office.

Once in the palace, she gathered a few servants and had them accompany her to the room. It was currently being used to store some pieces of furniture that had been moved out of other areas of the palace. Some had been in Zuko's mother's room before she vanished, but that had been before Kallan's time working at the palace. She only knew about it because of the servants' gossiping. Opening the door wide, she sneezed as dust flew out of the room, indicating that it hadn't been aired out for a while. Right away, she set the servants to cleaning and moving furniture, bringing in others to help.

It wasn't long until lamps needed to be brought in and lit so that they could work without being hindered by the dark. Kallan stayed for a little longer to make sure that everything was going according to her design, then decided to go back to the throne room to check on how things were going.

The guards let her pass without a fuss, and she walked in, expecting the aides to be hard at work. With a start, she saw there was somebody else in there besides the aides, talking to them and reading papers. Coolly, Kallan walked up to the tall, heavily muscled man and cleared her throat.

"And how can I help you, General Vahm?"

The general looked up, seeming pleased to see her. Apparently, he'd returned from the short trip he'd left on a few days ago. "Oh, good. Assistant Chief of Staff, could you tell the servants to prepare a meal for me and bring it here? I'll be busy all night with these reports."

Kallan crossed her arms and glared at the man, disliking being talked to as if she were just a higher-ranking servant. Just because she hadn't been born into nobility didn't mean she deserved less respect than any other person.

"My apologies, General, but you cannot be in here. I gave instructions not to let anyone other than myself or Firelord Zuko entry." She held out one arm to gesture towards the mangled doors. "You understand, of course."

The general stared at her in surprise. "I'm sure you had good intentions, but I am one of Lord Zuko's generals. These reports hold vital information to me." He smiled disarmingly, seeming to think he was forgiving her for a minor mistake. "You probably didn't know."

Kallan forced herself not to scowl, but couldn't help tensing angrily. "If Lord Zuko had intended for his generals to read these reports, he would have instructed that copies be made and sent to them. As it stands, he has not given any such orders, so therefore, the reports must not concern you."

General Vahm's face darkened suddenly. "Listen here, you impertinent little twit. I am a general of the Fire Nation. I will not tolerate such talk from the daughter of a mere soldier." He moved closer to her, looming over Kallan in an ominous fashion. "You are a simple Assistant Chief of Staff, easily replaced. Now do not talk back to me again, woman, and don't concern yourself with the matter of Lord Zuko's politics. They're far too complex for a mere commoner to understand."

With a sigh Callia walked through the gates of Omashu with a nod to the gaurd. He blinked as he recognized her and she smiled softly as she walked past. It had been a long time since she had been here and it brought with it bad memories and good ones. As she walked Callia looked around at the newly rebuilt buildings and the bustling inhabitants. Nodding to a few staring people she looked up towards the palace and grinned. King Bumi had known her family well and had been quite fond of her, she'd have to go visit him and ask for a job.

With her path decided she began to make her way up to the palace. As she walked she by passed the cabbage seller and laughed softly to herself. Her brother and her had given the older man hell with his cabbages when they had been younger. Smiling sadly she skirted around a platypus-bear with a glare at the big animal. She'd had many a run ins with the big things and she didn't quite like them. Moving on she spied a water bender from the looks of her heading to the palace. Raising a eyebrow she stepped up to the girl. " Are you headed to see King Bumi? Sorry to just pop up, but we don't see many water benders in Omashu. " She spoke smiling.

User ImageTally looked up at Callia in surprise. People didn't usually bother to speak with her, when they did it was to ask where she came from. That was almost what the second statement of the girls was. "Kong Bimu?" She asked confused, he ears not adjusted to what was an accent to her. "Who's that?" She spoke the words without much thought and so when her mind caught up it returned to what was important to her. "Oh no water benders? Nevermind...Do you know where I could find some?" Tally was not the most polite person around. Occasionally she noticed her mistakes. This was one of those times but pride kept her from apologizing and know she looked at the girl, comparing her resemblance to a slight fairy

Callia chuckled and shook her head. " You're kinda clueless then. Bumi is the King of Omashu. If any waterbenders are here they'll probably be up at the palace working for him." she shifted her weight and sighs happily at the feel of the earth beneath her feet. Her shoes had no bottoms which let her feel the ground under her, and nothing felt as good as Omashu soil to her. Shaking her head at the lost waterbender she sighed, she guessed she'd bring her to the palace with her. " If you want I'll take you to him. Otherwise you'll go through Hell trying to get an audience."

User ImageAn audience? Tally tried to figure out what the girl meant. Her mind wasn't getting her answer fast enough so she ignored it. "A King? Awsome! I really need a teacher too! I could really meet a king?" She spoke too fast, her voice too loud. "Heh...Sorry" She apologized only momentarily before forgetting about the pain in her feet and shifting her weight quickly from one foot to the other. She was eager to go anywhere that was good enough for a king.

Calli blinked and raised a brow. This girl was beyond strange and she had met some strange people in her travels. With a shake of her head she spoke. " A waterbender teacher here? You do realize you're in the Earth capital right? " With a sigh and a thought of what she had gotten herself into she lead the way up to the palace, taking every back road she knew. Calli was known for being able to get anywhere in Omashu and not be seen. She grinned thinking of how'd she greet the old King when she saw him. He'd always tease her when she was younger and pull pranks and she'd always try adn get him back. Hopefully this time she'd surprise the old coot.

User ImageTally shook her head in awe. Somehow, even though now that she searched her memory and realized it was true, she had not noticed where she was. She had been too preoccupied with the beauty of the city to care where she was. She had never been to a capitol before. There were no teachers here but this girl had said there were water benders. That was better than she had gotten so far in her journey. The girl seemed to be thinking about something, as Tally attempted to address her she didn't have a name, "What's so funny Nymph?" She didn't need one. It was unlikely she would remember it anyways.

Callia blinked as the girl spoke. " Excuse me?" blinking again she realized the girl had adressed her as Nymph, which made her realize she hadn't told the girl her name. " Oh I'm sorry my name is Callia. I was simply thinking of King Bumi. He is quite the character, always joking and pulling pranks." Smiling the girl kept walking not even looking to where she as going, as her feet knew the way much better than her eyes. Nothing could make her feet forget the way to the castle. Omashu was in her blood like the earth was her life.

User ImageTally enjoyed the expression on Callia's face as she Tally used instead of asking, "Well that's almost as good as Nymph" She grinned at the thought of a king who played practical jokes. "I thought kings were supposed to be 'regal'? No wonder this place can have platypus bears and royalty in the same place" The word regal was weird, she liked it and always used it to refer to people that were high and mighty, or as you were supposed to call them, 'dignified'.

Calli made a face a shook her head " It's no where close to nymph." This girl was seriously throwed in the head, had to be, she thought. She shook her head and smiled at memories of the King. " King Bumi isn't your ordinary king by any means. But he can be serious when he needs to be, or the time calls for it." she grinned as they turned down a dead end alley. With a few quick bending movements the wall split to make a door and she nodded her head. " Come on we're almost there."

User ImageTally ignored the girls comment. It may not be close in it's effect but Callia could be the name of a Nymph. She hid her joy when Callia used earth bending to get them into some secret passage, "Can I call you Nypmh?" It was strange to have someone willing to lead her. So few people were patient enough for her, this girl leading the way limited her from jumping up somewhere and climbing onto rooftops. Which would certainly get her kicked out.

Callia hid her annoyance behind earthbending as she closed the wall behind them and walked forward into the once dead in tunnel. " No you can't. My name is Callia, not Nymph." As the earthbender walked her body relaxed more the comforting feeling of being surrounded by the earth working it's magic. " When we find Bumi, let me do the talking. I'll see if I can't get you a spot here or something. If not then they have waterbending villages to the north you could go find." she spoke as she looked both ways at a fork. Sliding her feet a bit she cocked her head and nodded before turning to the right.

User ImageTally could tell she was annoying the girl and decided not to push her luck. She had no idea how to get out of here. Wandering around for hours in the dark was not on the top of her list for entertainment at the moment, "Okay Callia". Her mind had already started wandering when Calia started speaking again, as a result she didn't hear everything and dismissed it as simply an explanation of what they were doing.
