Just looking at this page I recognize a lot of the books but never read them. I think I had Mader's Biology textbook at one point but it got tossed when I moved. Studied Bio with Campbell/Reece xd

Anyways from One Hundred Days of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

"By means of that recourse the insomniacs began to live in a world built on the uncertain alternatives of the cards, where a father was remembered faintly as the dark man who had arrived at the beginning of April and a mother was remembered only as the dark woman who wore a gold ring on her left hand, and where a birth date was reduced to the last Tuesday on which a lark sang in the laurel tree."

Yeah Marquez and his long sentences, took me awhile to find the 5th one.

It's an awesome book though. heart

Which Way, Black Cat?, by Eleanor Frances Lattimore
Perhaps another family might offer her a ride!

Don Quixote-Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra

"All that is very well," said Don Quixote; "but let the shoes and the
blood-lettings stand as a setoff against the blows you have given him
without any cause; for if he spoiled the leather of the shoes you paid
for, you have damaged that of his body, and if the barber took blood from
him when he was sick, you have drawn it when he was sound; so on that
score he owes you nothing."

"A relic from 1873, the engine shed only needs two tracks now, with the former outside stalls used for storage."
Steam Over Palmerston by Ian Wilson.

Yes the closest book was a picture type book of trains and pg 51 was a picture so I used 50. Not my book, lol.

Symbols by Sandra Forty
The raffia tree's thorns are a dangerous challenge to the snake, so persistence and care are needed to climb it successfully.

It's a book about symbols. That particular one is about Owo Foro Adobe.

You should read many of them. I'm more interested in lines from books that I haven't read, though...

WHY AM I NOT ASLEEP?

Anyway...

Twelve Diseases That Changed Our World by Irwin W. Sherman
They were everywhere, all over...but clustered most thickly on the face and extremities...the inside of the mouth and ear canals and sinuses had pustulated...it felt as if the skin was pulling off the body, that it would split and rupture.

What lovely imagery.

Anyway, that's a book from my Pathobiology/Great Diseases of the World class. It's actually a pretty interesting read (especially the chapter on the role Porphyria and Hemophilia played in history), which is why I held onto it.

Classical Mythology: Images and Insights by Stephen L. Harris and Gloria Platzner
In such works as The Masks of God and The Hero with a Thousand Faces, Campbell explores the archetypal hero's adventures, particularly his tests of courage, honor, and self-knowledge.

Another excerpt from another textbook that I actually enjoy reading =D

The Inferno by Dante
And he to me 'You shall know these things, but not before we stay our steps on the mournful shore of Acheron.'

My Liberal Studies class is to blame for this one. It's really interesting, though.

The Art of Manliness by Brett and Kate McKay
Instead of "thank you for the dough," say "thank you for your kindness/generosity/gift."

This is one of those books where if you're reading it, you probably don't need it, but if you need it, you probably would never read it...
