-- I hope the movie will be decent, for if it is not it will just forever scar how I see Anita Blake. But I'm excited, nonetheless. --

I know exactly what you mean. I have a list of people in my mind that would be perfect for so many of the characters and I just can't imagine who they are going to cast. The fact that Jason Alexander is going to be connected scares me. Maybe he will be Bert?

Eh...Bert is built big, remember? Jason Alexander is a bit on the short side. Too bad it's Guilty Pleasures, he'd probably make a good Irving.
And Kate Beckinsale would NOT be a good Anita. I don't like her very much as Selene, let alone as Anita. But then, that's my opinion.
As to when the movie will come out...remember, movies take time. At least two-three years for filming, at LEAST 6 months of casting before that, and then however long it takes Laurell to write the scripts. Which is harder than it sounds, because she has to change her writing style to accomodate.
I really can't wait to see the finished product.

Jean Claude can't be in his thirties he was turned younger than that. I imagine the first movie will be true to form and if there are more then they will incorporate stuff from some other books just to move it along. As for the height thing look at what they did to the hobbits in LOTR. Enough said.

Pre-production can take anywhere from 5 years to 5 months, that's the part where the scripts are written (not finalized because that often happens during filming) money is raised and casting is done. Filming itself usually only takes 3 to 5 months (depending on the size of the movie/budget) (if you're thinking of LOTR that took 18 months because they were doing 3 HUGE movies at once) then another 8 months to a year for editing and getting it to the screen.

I would love to see a movie, I just hope that they allow her to have free reign over the script. But knowing Hollywood, they will have a hand in screwing up the Novel. The things I'm concerned with most is the change of story, and casting. If they go and cast Anita, and Jean-Claude wrong, it will be forever stuck in my head while reading the future novels. I hope this doesn't happen.
