I was wondering if someone could check this translation for me? I want to eventually be a translator, and want to practice by translating lyrics...this is my first attempt, I picked a verse I thought would be easy.
ミュージシャンにあこがれ 見果てぬ夢追いかけて 一歩づつゆっくり 歌の足跡残したい
(Musician ni akogare mihatenu yume oikakete ippozutsu yukkuri uta no ashiato nokoshitai)
Yearning to be a musician Chasing the dream to its end One step at a time, slowly I want to leave behind the footprints of song
Do I pass or fail? xd
(I knew I should have tried to get into that translation workshop class last semester...)

IndigoBabe I've only posted it 3 times, in different threads, and one said somthing different.... The question was the same, you could have kept it in only 1 topic( i go through each post and only give a call of attention when it's over the top.), for going in 3 threads and being the same it's considered spamming. 1 time is enough, just wait for a response, collapsing other topics with the same question won't get you the answer faster.

Jim Breen's dictionary is actually replicated in many places seeing as it is open source, the best being : http://kanjidict.stc.cx/dict
Arguably so it has a more indepth look into every single Kanji, and gives you the word in hiragana as well.

Midnitergrl Um...does anyone know what Datebayou means? I think that's how you spell it. Do you mean the Naruto infamous "Dattebayo!" ? i only know japanese roughly, but I think it's more of an expression than an actual word. Which is why I LOATHE the english version of it which says "Believe it!" I don't remember a lot of conversations from the anime anymore (especially from naruto) but usually he uses it to mean things like "Like I said" or "As I said". Or "But!" I need to watch again to give a better example but yeah, it's more of an expression than something that has a concrete translation^^; hope that helps >w<

Sounds ridiculous, but I need to know. XD Raion no hi..i think..can mean The lions sun or the Lion of Sun If I'm not mistaken, "hi" means day.Taiyou = sun.Yup that's right. Hi = day, Taiyou = sun Lion of the Sun (or rather, Sun's Lion) will probably be Taiyou no Raion. (Raion because i dont know for the life of me what's lion in japanese XDD sorry~) Anyway explaination : Japanese uses the " 's " (which is the 'no' in Taiyou no Raion) rather than making that phrase the reverse (i.e. Lion of the sun) which is why I had to give you Sun's Lion^^; hope that helps^^

So, Taiyou no tora. Also hi can also mean sun or sunshine but mostly taiyou is used. Hope i helped. whee

Hermonie Urameshi IndigoBabe How do you say Hi? And not konnichiwa.. thats so frmal.. i mean the loose "hey whats up" or "hows it goin" hi. anyone anyone? smile yo=American "yo" konnichiwa= It's not formal! It's used by everyone! It means good day. not 'hi' ohayougozaimasu/ohayou=good morning (formal)/good morning (informal) konbanwa=good evening I've consulted two books I have on hand, and they both say konnichiwa does mean hi. and one book says gokigenyoo means good day. and it's ohayoo gozaimasu, not ohayougozaimasu, for good morning.
