Just A Fly On The Wall

The back cupboards came to close just as the bell rung. The smell of formaldehyde filling the room. Probably a small tear in one of the bag occupying the sink at the moment. The teacher wasn't bothered by it. Use to it from years of teaching biology. Taking a quick glance at her partner-in-crime, Kiala gave a nod, "Off you go. I'll be seeing you at P.E." Standing up straight and pushing a few stray strands from in front of the human ears. Her hands laid upon one another as they were settled in front of the light shirt. Eyes peering from one new student to another. "Take a seat." She demanded while moving towards the desk up in front of the green chalk boards.

As she rounded the desk, the pair of orbs caught the boy's body outside of her room before the bell, an evil grin cascaded on to the woman's face. "Ah, a first tardy." She muttered to herself. After Pan had finally entered her class, and Ranofer left, the door was closed behind her. "Now, if all of you will remove any jewerly from your hands and take one of the aprons from the back we can begin today's lesson." Having made herself comfortable in her seat the desk was starting to be cleared off. The random items being stuffed away in to one of the five drawers.

Different from the other classes Kiala didn't want to know the students' names; they were all listed on her roster. She didn't care for what you liked, this wasn't their room, it was her domain. So, they could keep all of their biographies to themselves. The only time a biography would be needy was if for punishment.

Pan loitered by the door as long as he could, waiting for the bell and easily ignoring the scent of the lab. It had never bothered him, and probably never would. It was his natural habitat, technically.

What did bother him was the dark, unpleasant looking Fae who brushed past without so much as a glance, leaving the room for, presumably, a class of his own. Cute, though. he thought to himself, watching the body disappear apathetically down the hall.

Finally, the bell rang, and after a steady ten-count, he half-pranced into the room, and stared directly at the teacher, daring her to do something. She ignored him, good for her, and told everyone to grab an apron and take off their rings and bracelets. Pan expertly tied the apron behind himself and began rolling up the loose, gauzy sleeves of his shirt while he waited for further instruction. From the corner of his eye, he spotted what appeared to be a blonde woman making her way down the hall with single minded focus, and not on watching where she was going. But, he ignored it, in favor of science.

Horatio mentally listed all the classrooms she past by, counting the doors carefully. Last time she'd tried finding a specific teacher, she'd barged into the wrong room and nearly had her head blasted off by ...well, by something, at least.

Certain that she'd found the right door, she didn't even bother to knock before popping her head into the room. It was definitely the right one, though. All the roots and fiddly faerie things. And cat hair, definitely cat hair, floating around in the air currents. "Tasartir, you in here?" she asked loudly, her body following the sound into the empty classroom.

She spied the fae in a childish staring and glaring contest with her cat, and sighed with relief. "Right, then. I've found you, and I have a question." She didn't pause for breath or acknowledgment. "What do I have behind my back? Can you tell?" Now, she waited, hoping for the right answer.

Ranofer's eyebrow rose as Kiala told him to be on his way, though the gesture was hidden due to his rather long black hair. "Have fun," Ranofer's lips curled at the edges as he pushed himself off of the counter, doubting that the woman wouldn't enjoy herself during her devious lesson. He walked towards the door, watching as a couple of students walked into the room, also noticing the white-haired boy waiting just outside. So this was the trouble-maker, huh? In any case, Ranofer quickly scanned him over with his red eyes, then ignored the boy as he brushed right passed him out into the hallway. As he walked, a black figure in a vacant school corridor, he could feel those eyes watching him, a smirk on his face as he turned the corner.

'Potential prey number one,' he thought permiscuously to himself as he wandered the hallways, another entree added to his buffet platter. Ran would just eat him up and then continue on, he just had to catch him first, which didn't seem too hard given that the mouse had literally stared him down, not to mention what he was.

His shoes barely made any noise as he headed toward the other end of the building, soon catching a whiff of a pungent odor. Blood. The substance meant nothing particular to him, though it did remind him of the times he had murdered those humans. Reluctantly, he passed the dojo-classroom with the vampire brothers inside, making his way to a pair of double doors that led outside, a red sign marking it's existance, glowing with less intensity than the eyes he possessed.

As soon as Ranofer stepped outside, the rain met his being. At least it cooled him from the slight warmth the weather had brought with it. Shoving his hands into his pockets, he walked further out, only then to look up and see a young-looking witch spin 'round in the rain, talking to her nervous cat.

Too-pallid fingers swept through long silky tresses that only brought out the digit's lack of melanin. Thin lips were pursed even thinner in thought as a pair of silver spheres studied a bulletin, the long vertically slit pupil contracting momentarily to become almost nonexistent. The enrollment must have dwindled even more, or the posted list in front of him had simply made a mistake. Several teachers besides himself had classes cancelled for that morning, and some more than just one. As for his own opinion, the Vampire was glad enough that his History class had been aborted; the subject was the duller of the two he taught. But then, there were still two other History classes he had to teach, and although it was the lesser of the two, Darian enjoyed it all the same. To learn from the past was important for the young, in order to prevent the same atrocities.

"What to do with the short time I have, then . . . ." The growing sickly feeling in the back of his mind he ignored now. I still have time left yet. The thought came idly, as if he had been over it several hundred times already, which in some ways he had. When he had to feed, he would be compelled to, and he knew that, but for the time being it was suppressed, and for as long as he could he would.

Turning slowly from the wall he had been studying with a fluid grace that spoke of his nature, Darian set off down the hallway, almost seeming to simply float across the tile floor if one were not looking carefully. Finger and thumb fiddled unconsciously with the silver cross revealed beneath his collared dress shirt, contrasting sharply with the midnight hue of the cloth. If the top buttons had not been undone, he most likely would have simply placed the fingers on his throat. The cross was a reminder to him, both of what he was and his heritage, as well as the irony of his name. Leveque . . . "Bishop" . . . The last thing a person like me would become. The oddity of seeing a cross on a Vampire still quirked an eyebrow every now and again.

The halls were virtually empty now, the bell signaling the start of the morning classes having rung while he was still looking at the schedule. He heard a few hurried steps here and there throughout the school, his keen ears picking up signs that some students had decided to sleep in. A sniff told him he was passing the Biology room, oranges and formaldehyde rushing upon him unbidden. He had never cared for the art. The more subtle smells beneath the first hinted at races, the strongest of which narrowing his eyes a bit. Werewolves seemed to be appearing more often as of late, and far less of his own kind. He recognized Kiala's scent easily even smothered by the rest, which caused a flicker of thought. I suppose as far as their kind goes . . . .

Still unsure what to do with himself, the Vampire found that he had drifted to another hallway where he caught the sight of a familiar wave of blonde disappearing through a doorway. Although no expression showed on his smooth, more than handsome features, another may have clapped excitedly and ran to the door. Instead, he simply glided forward, taking note of the Wolf passing behind him. The smell filled his nostrils. Too many recently. Without faltering a step, he spoke quietly, yet loud enough for the 'boy' to hear. "If you have a class to get to, I would suggest getting there. I know some teachers that would not be well pleased with tardiness. If not, then enjoy the weather." Whether the other had payed attention or not was of no importance; students should not wander the halls unconcernedly.

Stopping as he reached the doorway, Darian waited patiently for the two to finish conversing before announcing his presence. True, he was silhouetted rather nicely in the door's frame, but even when the Vampire was completely and obviously there, he could be difficult to notice. The Shadows around him seemed to add to this effect, even the smallest appearing to almost bend the light around him. Almost.

Miya jumped slightly and beamed joyously when her cat-like friend locked arms with her. "Evie!" The little witch gleefully cried out and half-hugged her friend closer. "I didn't know we had the same class! And Pan too!" She was simply overjoyed to have classes with the only two people she'd gotten acquainted with in her short time here. Such occurrences always made it easier to adjust.

Again the girl's body gave a start when the professor barked her orders. Miya quickly found a seat, one where Evie could sit next to her. There was a single open seat in front of them too, where Pan might sit so they could all talk later. "I'm so happy I'm not in this class alone!" She looked over at the door, blinking curiously at the handsome, darkly-dressed man who passed by Pan. She wondered, for a moment, who he was and where he was going, but she quickly let those thoughts dissolve, and smiled at her lycan companion. "This class should be fun."

She looked forward quickly when again, she heard Ms. McDowell give orders. She took the silver bangles from her wrists and put them in her coat pocket with a little smile and moved along with Evie to fetch aprons. She easily tied the strings behind her and found her seat again, noticing that Pan had finally come in, and had already donned his own apron. "Pan," Miya sang jovially. "Isn't this great? We are all in this class together!" She flashed a cute smile and sat down, again giving the teacher her attention.

The young witchling felt privileged to be able to attend such a wonderful school, or really, a school at all, and intended to give the teachers and other staff members her full attention. She was going to do her best!

"Hm?"

Momo perked, breaking eye contact with the cat and looking about until her eyes fixed on the mage. She smiled widely at her inquiry. "I wonder..." She held a pensive hand to her chin as she focused on her visitor, then beyond her and on what lied beneath her golden tresses. Her eyes were wide then, as she finally identified what the strange aura was.

"It's a bird! A unique one at that. Did you build it?!" Her excitement was all too obvious as she tried to look around the shorter woman. "Horatio dear, you never cease to amaze." She didn't wait for authorization before lifting up the silken curtain of hair and peeking below. She sighed as a realization hit her.

"Ah, it's not autonomous yet, is it?"

"Ack! Why didn't you say so sooner?!" Anni shrieked, picking up the cat and her hat and placing them both on her head. Danny pushed his furry little heat out from under the brim, and meowed in an irritated way.

"Oh don't you get snippy with me," The mage snapped, grabbing her broom and rushing off to class, while Danny was mewing smugly. She basically ignored him. Boy was she ever late. Maybe, hopefully, their teacher would be late too and she could slip into Biology unnoticed.

She opened the door and tiptoed over to a desk. She didn't look over to see if the teacher was there, going on the 'if I don't see you you can't see me' theory. Danny peered around the room, his eyes catching the cat lycan. He felt the need to investigate, and slipped out from under Anni's hat and down her back, padding up to sniff at her ankles.

Evie enthusiastically returned Miya's hug. Oh yes, she knew she and the witch were going to get along very well. Hearing Ms. McDowell tell them what to do she nodded and followed Miya to get and apron. She was as happy as her friend that they were in class together, but she had a feeling she wouldn't be quite as energetic as usual. Ms. McDowell's demeanor screamed that she was in charge, and since they were both lycans Evie could not help but have that submissive feeling.

To Evie, Ms. McDowell was the Alpha here, and even though she obeyed the other teachers she believed she would obey Ms. McDowell even more then the others. Sighing mentally Evie tied her apron behind her and once again followed Miya to their seats. She barely heard what her friend said to Pan when her eyes met those of a cat. Her eyebrows rose when the cat slipped away from the girl he was with and walked over to her.

Bending down to further observe the cat Evie's lips curved into a smile. "Well hello," Evie greeted the cat. Whatever worries and thoughts had before disappeared from her head. That is how it always was when she met a member of the cat family.

The blonde woman sighed and shook her head. "No, it's not." She let a chagrined smile onto her face, "But it has to be close. You could tell what it was. That makes it dead, not inanimate. That's a good sign. Means there the potential for life. I'll get there some time soon. Maybe by the end of the semester, who knows.

"At any rate, it was definitely worth cancelling my classes for, in my opinion. And, what with mine being the one that matters and all.." The sentence trailed off into a gaping yawn, "It means I can go to bed, finally." She reached a hand out and twitched her fingers, and the bird lifted itself at her command, and glided silently over to Momo's desk, settling in front of the cat.

"It'll take a program though. It'll make a nice toy for Selene, I think." and as if in response, the bird chirruped, it's voice musical, though obviously mechanical.

"Anyway, you obviously don't have a class, you should come with me for dinner before I pass out for the nest six hours." Horatio turned on her heel, motioning the Fae to follow, and not particularly sure she would. They were friendly towards eachother, but Horatio was never a particularly social person, and she had the tendency to make gathering awkward.

As if to prove that very point, she slammed directly into a cool body blocking her exit. Presumably, they'd thought she'd notice them and wait for them to step aside. Instead, she fell onto the ground with a clamor.

"Nng... Sorry..." she muttered, looking up at into the face of her victim. "Ah. Darian. Well, you'll not kill me at least. Are you here to make Momo come to dinner too?"
PostPosted: Sat Oct 18, 2008 4:48 pm

Momo watched Selene sniff at the bird tentatively before reaching to grace it with her paw. "What do you know, she loves it already. I must agree, this one was worth your time, look at how splendidly it works even when it's not complete." She clapped her hands together as the mage walked past her. "Hmmm... Dinner. Sure sounds nice, but only if I get to do the cooking. I've grown rusty as of late. I wonder why I haven't been cooking as much. Hmmm."

The elf continued to speak to both herself and Horatio as she followed after the shorter blond. "Perhaps it's because I have been busy? I can't recall with what as of now. Maybe Selene has been mis... Ah yes, she has. tricky critter she is!" Her voice seemed to grow even sweeter as she spoke the cat's name, hinting at some kind of motherly pride. Of course, that was habit for her. Even the school's doorman was spoken of with unexplained fervor.

Bringing her thoughts back to the moment, she couldn't help smiling to herself, it was always nice when miss Horatio was around, and it was good to see her interact with things that had an actual pulse. She noticed the man at the door just a second before Horatio hit the floor. "Oh." She rushed to help the mage up while greeting Darian with the same familiarity she offered everyone.

"Ah, Mr. Leveque. Your presence is as always, most pleasant." She patted Horatio's clothes back into order before turning to look at the silent vampire. "You too need dinner?"

((Please do excuse her, she has a bad caring habit. razz I know some of her questions seem a tad out of it, but that just how she is. Let me know if I need to edit wink ))

Danny meowed his greeting, even making as much of an attempt as he could at a smile. He sat down where he was on the floor, seeing as he was going to be in this room for however much longer this class was going to drone on for. It might as well be near someone he could relate to before going back under the hat that was already damp.

"Danny, be good okay?" Anni told her little cat, scratching his head before skipping off to grab an apron then skipping back. "Hello, my name's Annika! This is Daniel, but I call him Danny for short." The little mage was smiling to the lycan. She was happy it looked like Danny was finding a friend, after all, since she took care of him since kitten hood, she felt like his mother. She even kept his first bottle tucked away in a special spot! The thought made her giggle, not really caring if no one knew why.

Not even an eyelash twitched as the blonde traipsed directly into him, falling to the floor with about as much grace as a beached whale. He may have been amused, had he not seen it coming, yet he offered what he presumed was an apologetic smile - the Vampire had never been very well adept at social customs - and offered a pallid hand. To the touch, it would have felt like ice, yet the gesture was meant in warmth enough to where he hoped it would assuage the cold enough. Or so he could hope.

"Pardon my intrusion," he began, addressing them both in his smooth voice, hints of a French accent just on the edges, "Many classes seemed to have been cancelled, and I was simply searching for something to fill the short time until my next session." The offered hand lay perfectly still. "And no, Miss Tamaranth, I have not come to force any person into anything. Coercion, however, may pose as a possibility. And to you, Miss Tasartir, I would have to respectfully decline your offer. Subsistence and I do not get along very well, so I fear all I would stand as would be dead weight. I thank you, though."

Turning his attention back to Horatio for the moment, he studied her, from blonde tresses to delicate shoulders, though he let his eyes wander no further than her own. The silver-surrounded slits pulsed once, expanding and contracting before settling back to a sliver. She was pretty, in his mind's opinion, and if slightly unawares sometimes, the personality he had witnessed intrigued him slightly. No delusions of any intimacy even attempted to pervade his thoughts. After all, even if it was not obvious to anybody else, he could see where her preferences lie. A woman that loves women. I can not say I blame her in the least. A smile would have appeared on another's lips, yet this was Darian. His features remained stoic and smooth as he waited for Horatio to either refuse or accept his hand.

The woman's eyes scanned over the students that filled a few of the many seats. A small class. Kiala didn't mind that at all. Turning to her computer, her hand controlling the mouse; it was her fingers that did the clicking on icons with this technology. A list came to the screen. Kiala expected the students to know what she was doing when calling their names. It was obvious; that was if... this wasn't their first school. If it had been, they would be lost other wise. "Annika." She called, waiting for the sign that the student was present, whether it be a head turn, a 'Yes ma'am', 'Here', or so forth.

Kiala went on down the list. "Evelyn." Then to "Miya". The teacher didn't even bother with calling out Pan's name. When this was all down another click from the mouse would close the window only to give her new students her attention. Pushing her foot against the ground, the rolling chair gave an old creak as her body slightly turned to face the students she was ordering around.

There was a small hesitation now that the cat's scent began to bug her. Reaching for the tissue box beside her computer, Kiala rubbed the soft material against her nose, and shook her head. "One at a time, go to the sink and empty out the bag's fluid to retrieve today's assignment. Also, you may want to grab one of the trays I have provided for you at the first desk." Her hand swayed towards the direction of the metal materials that were slightly filled with a certain rubber to them.

Kiala's orbs began to search the floor for this creature. She wasn't one to allow pets in her class as she saw them as a distraction from her lectures. But, for now it would be allowed. After giving up the search Kiala went to study the students' bodies as they got up one at a time. Partly perverted and the other just to see who may look to be one of the fine students for her class.

Miya was doing her best to pay attention when she got back to her seat, when movement caught her eye. She looked over to Evie to see what she was doing, and tilted her head curiously. What was her new friend looking at? Miya too, bent her body slightly to get a better view of what was under the table, her pointed hat almost slipping from her head at first. "Aww...." She whispered. "How cute!"

The witch jumped slightly when she heard Mrs. McDowell start to call names, and looked up quickly, waiting to hear her own name called. "Yes ma'am." She said sweetly, excited to start class and doing what she could to make a positive first impression. Still, she couldn't help but look again to the small animal under the desk with a smile.

She stood up again, when she heard the teacher giving further instructions, and looked over to Evie, wanting to walk with her to the sinks. Once Evie was up, she headed the same direction as the other students did, looking over when she noticed another witch's cap, blinking in confusion before quickly getting her materials so she go introduce herself. 'I can't believe it!! Another witch! This is so great!' Miya hadn't seen any others of her kind in the entire time she had been here, and it was comforting to see someone she could relate well to.

Evie grinned and scratched the cat behind the ears. It was as if she could read his thoughts, and she agreed one-hundred percent. To meet someone that she could relate to, besides Miya of course, was a great thing. She opened her mouth to say something else to the cat but stopped when she heard a voice very close. Gracefully rising back up to her full height, which was not very tall in the first place, Evie grinned at Annika.

"It's nice too meet you, and you as well Danny," Evie said to them each in turn with a grin. Her eyebrows rose some when the girl giggled but Evie simply grinned at that. It seemed Evie had found another girl that shared her personality. Hearing her name being called Evie immediately looked over shoulder. "Here!" She shouted enthusiastically and realizing how loud she was her ears flattened against her head for a moment.

It might be silly to others to act so submissive towards the teacher, but most did not understand how packs worked, and even then some who were even in packs themselves didn't follow the rules. Her act like features revived once more as Ms. McDowell told them what to do and she did just what she was told.

Looking around she saw Miya heading towards where they were supposed to go and she smiled. Time to be reunited with her other friend. "Talk to you later," she said to the witch and cat with an enthusiastic sway of her tail before she walked over to where Miya was. "You haven't met Annika yet, have you?" Evie asked her friend, nodding towards the couple she had just left.

"She's a witch like you," Evie told her with a grin.
