User ImagePersonally I'm not bothered that it isn't heavy on the romance, RP ideas I have are never romance centered.

Thought as a hopeless romantic, I am curious what will happen with the characters heart

Where does romance come in? o0

Mmmmm, well, I have heard various things that have made me think that a set-up like this is actually conductive to romance.

(1) All the characters are facing death. While many people are bold and comfortable with being single and alone, when faced with the very real possibility they will leave no one or nothing behind, many reach out.

(2) All the characters will have a chance to restart their lives at the end of the story (provided they don't fail horribly).

(3) These life or death experiences will create strong bonds between characters. For some characters (like Jenna for example), the idea of understanding someone or being understood by someone who wasn't there will be nigh impossible.

(4) Romance will cause small to drastic changes in the behaviors and choices of the leaders, both good and bad >.>

---> If Ghale doesn't get off his a** and submit a profile or Edian and/or none of the NPCs get romances with PCs, I will probably end up pairing at least two of them off. :3 I can't let it be completely loveless!

User ImageI love your AIM username 4laugh

I can see where the situation could lead to romantic involvements, I'm curious to see how that all plays out. Is having the NPCs paired with someone integral to the RP?

Being fresh-meat and all, I have a question that's probably going to come off as just plain silly.
Is it considered decent etiquette to give the player of a character a heads up that you're hoping to create a romantic relationship between your character and theirs?
Or is it more common just to throw out lines in character soley and hope for the best?

Mundane: Kennahead

Character Name: Bridget Euthanii

Nicknames or Aliases: None

Race: Human

Physical Appearance: Lean and hard, muscled and fierce. There's a fire in her royal violet eyes, and a perpetual grin that comes across as a blend of feral and absolutely out of her mind is ever present on her face. Her hair, a dark auburn/red tone, is grown past her shoulders but almost always up in a ponytail to be kept out of her face. She's dressed commonly in loose pants and tank tops, or any outfit that allows her freedom of movement, and a granite fang is kept on a necklace at her chest. Bridget

Personality: Her personality is just as fierce as her appearance, and she does nothing to contain or mask this. She drinks like a sailor, brawls without regret, and laughs as loudly as she pleases. She is guided by instinct, and practices no restraint on this, believing that life is meant to be lived to its fullest, and knowing that with her lifestyle she could very well be dead tomorrow so she best have a damn good time today! She's brash and headstrong, brutal in everything (including honesty). She's the kind of personality that you love or hate, rarely is there an inbetween.

Known History: Bridget is the only child of a gruff old man. Her mother died from a chronic illness when she was a toddler, and so was raised by her father. Her father is one of the few magic practicers left, knowing to keep his talents to himself, but refusing to let them die out. He taught his daughter what he knew, which was a lot of work with energy and forces, subtle things, not flashy. Yet, Bridget had not inhereted her personality from her mother, her father was just as brash and short-tempered as she, if not more so. He was out past curfew one night, lost his temper, and took down several officials before being apprehended. It was shortly after this occurance that Bridget joined the reistance as a may-as-well-be orphan.

Reason for Joining The Resistance: With an attitude and history like hers, was there really any chance of her leading a peaceful and non-resistive life under this restrictive government?

Powers & Abilties: Through a form of energy-channeling magic from her father, she is able to increase her strength to ridiculous levels, enabling her to lift and throw vehicles, knock down solid stone walls, pull apart metal doors, ex cetera. This drains a lot of energy, though, and strength that excessive can be used only for certain periods of time before she exhausts herself. However, her regular strength, due to this, is greater than average, enabling her to lift a full grown man with one arm easily enough. She is a very skilled brawler to boot, able to throw a hit as well as dodge or take one. Her body can also take a lot more damage than the average human can. While a bullet to the heart or head would kill her, blunt force in most any amount hardly phases her, and it takes a lot of force to pierce her skin with weaponry (guns, obviously, providing plenty of force to puncture skin with a bullet, being an exception to that rule).

Vices & Hindrances: Wrecklessness is her biggest vice. She has not been known to back down from a fight, and would charge a small army on her own without concern for the probable death this would lead to. She's also got a weak spot for liquor, having never rejected an offer for a good drink before in her life. She also runs through energy quickly in battle, and when drained after a long period of holding her strength far above average, becomes very weak and frail until having appropriately rested and eaten again. Her tendency to get carried away could mean that she could easily breach her threshold and pass out, or even die from drained energy on the battlefield.

Death: With her personality, most likely, but hopefully not. It all depends on how insane her luck is, I suppose.

As a veteran of more RPGs than I care to count, I've found that especially in games where the story and the interaction of characters is the focus of things, discussing your intent with other players is always a good thing. For that matter, so is discussing things with the GM (or whatever term you'd like to use for the person running things), if you have particular intentions for your own character's story, or for an NPC. The more communication there is between the players in a story-based game, the more coherent and enjoyable the story will be for all parties involved.

I have some horror stories about people trying to force their romantic intent on others' characters without discussing it, but I'll save those for another day. For now, I'll just say: yeah, if you want to plan something regarding someone else's character, go ahead and involve them in the discussion. You'll both enjoy the resultant story more when you both have input in it from the beginning.

That's kind of what I had figured, heh. Better results when the intent is realized by both players or with the storyteller and what have you.
I just wanted to be sure that I wouldn't be pointed and giggled at for asking someone if my character could snog their character.

I can imagine that wouldn't be the most favourable of circumstances to be under. I pray that never happens to me in real life, let alone RPs.

And I am
ready to move on, ma'am! *Salutes* However, it will have to be once I've finished this flap-jack my brother made. It's nice, but it has the consistency of fast setting superglue. scream The trifle, Syrenrei, was intimately more favourable, and no doubt far easier to digest!

Oh and a *high five* to Miss Syrenrei for making this RP. Best idea I've come across in aaaaaages. 3nodding

Well, you may very well be pointed and giggled at. But it's all in good fun, we promise. Include others in the discussion and you might even find yourself with some interestingly complicated shojo manga style love dodecahedrons, and then we'll all really have something to be amused at.

Posy: Thanks!

In all honesty, I had been talking to Ghale reminiscing of times long past where we RPed together in an mIRC chat channel (fun note: we had a mutual friend IRL but did not realize such nor that we lived in the same city until after we met online!). I wanted to recapture some of the mystery that you had there while retaining some consistency and plot that forums and applications allow. In actuality, everything I have written was purely inspired by the desire to play a character of mine with a character of his again like a few years back.

Making a new RP was not the initial intention, but I quickly realized that both characters were slightly over-powered to dump on someone else's RP and that they would need somewhere to 'play' where most of their peers were adults and the atmosphere allowed for darker personalities (i.e. no goody-two-shoes plots).

I have no ******** clue how I ended up with Par and the setting. Jenna is a complete rework of an old character concept (my first character who I created at fourteen to be what I wanted to be when I was the age I am now), W'turnia is a complete copy of an old character, and Judge is a rework.

Anyway, I hope you all like it. <3

Kennahead & On Planning: Feel free to AIM me. I did not realize that sometime during my Gaia life I had entered my AIM name in my profile, but I am usually on after 5pm until I go to sleep; MSNM and Yahoo have been uninstalled due to lack of use. >.< I also respond to PMs, so plotting may commence there as well. I will work as hard as possible to accommodate any storyline requests.

All four NPCs are currently "free." W'turnia has very, very limited prospects, but I didn't plan on her having a romantic pursuit unless a certain someone joined anywho (seeing as touching her is harmful).

Also, in my other RPs I didn't really ask anyone before I pursued them with character romantically, but I am ok with rejection in character. I'm just sort of shy and insecure about asking someone "OMG U WNT 2 RMANCE?" I just cross my fingers and toes when replies come around. =)

Lady Capri: No, they are not integral. All the missions and the last battle will happen regardless of their attachments. I wanted to make sure that we had a base plot that could exist without me taking for granted anything that *could* happen. All of them could end up alone and you'd still get a good ride;

however, different NPCs having relationships (friends and romantic especially) will have an effect. It will have a big influence on Jenna, a moderate influence on Judge and Sebudai, and little influence on W'turnia. As leaders, changes in their lives/attitudes can have an effect on the storyline simply because they are the ones making decisions on what information to reveal, what to attack, and/or who to take, etc.

Alright. So would I be able to sling out a "Oh-em-gee, sorry I'm late choo guys" post here?
PostPosted: Thu Jun 05, 2008 4:04 pm

Yeah, just let me move the info >.>

Edit: For some reason I am unable to add it. Either Gaia/my computer suck or there is a post length max that I was unaware of. >.< I am unsure how to fix this best as I can't just insert a post in there. Maybe tack some characters onto the end of the NPCs and start the PC section on that post?

Okay, fixed it. I made a second PC post to shuffle them down to and then consolidated "Learning to RP" and "Romantic Attachments" since they are both smaller and I ran out of room other places >.>
