Shaynadorf It depends on the guard. TECHNICALLY, a guard should not only be a part of the band but a more respected part. My guard performs with the band as well as separate (and most of us in the winter percussion show) and we put the visuals to the music that the band plays. thats our entire purpose. how can we not be part of the band if we work with them? More respected? How so? I seem to be missing you're point...

Hell ya colorguard is part of tha band! They fling their flags and dance to the beat of the music! tee-hee! surprised wink smile biggrin rofl wahmbulance

You better believe we are! Shiz our show would be NOTHING without colorguard! And yet pretty much NONE of the band respects us. I know about only 4, and that's this one trumpet girl, my bestest friend who's a senior flute, and the drum majors. THAT'S IT! I don't even think half the guard respects one another god! We have issues yeah, I may have hit some band people, but I've always said I was sorry! But I can't really say I blame the band for not respecting us....because most of the guard doesn't respect them.
but anyways I got off track again, lol, Well...how I see it is that we're not part of the band, band (like the musical/instrument part) but we are part of the Regiment. But I love the band though, like all my friends are in band. And I used to be a clarinet so I already have that love for band in me lol.

Heck ya!! The band's total score is 0 guard!!! Without us even if they did perfect they'd get `!! That my friends is a D- ! And for anyone who says we're not because we're not around or do what the band does most of the time its not our fault. Like my guardis seperated only becuase we have things to do and our instructors keep us seperated. We're trying to fix the problem nowadays ^^

Well, our band instructor doesn't include us of anything like when we go over our sets he says that the guard is always in the way! And we aren't! Stupid people and disrespecting the guard! I don't think they notice that we can run after them with flags!

No. I would have to say that the color guard is not part of the band. They contribute a lot, but they are NOT part of the band. They do not play an instrument during the performance, which is what defines band. They may be part of the band "group," but they are not members of the band.

As I said before, the colorguard may be part of the band group, but they are NOT A PART OF THE BAND. They have a lot to offer, but they work alonside the band. They will never be part of the band unless they decide to pick up instrumets and play, which would then put them in the band and out of guard. GUARD IS NOT PART OF THE BAND.

Pretty much since it's not just the colorguard that dances during shows. Plus some colorguard members are also in concert band.

the only time we are a part of the band is when they get punished. no, not when there is a one at competition or when there are expenses. We work harder and longer than the band. We also make the band look good. They're jealous wink Guard is sooooo much better!
