If you must, try to hit a band member on the field from the back.
My friend has broken teeth from hitting an instrument and therefore forcing it backwards into the band member's teeth.

Never let your nails grow out and actually expect to keep them.

NEVER let the (almost) deaf percussionist near one of your flags! He will try to immitate your toss and hit his head! But at least he had too much of a headache to play...

SerenityAerin Never EVER run over your flag with a car or let a freshman sew up the rip she madei n your flag without supervision I'm a freshman and on the way to, regionals maybe? I don't remember, but on the way to an important competition I sewed up all the flags that needed it, and did a good job too. Well, I sewed every flag except my ballad flag...that's just a battle scar of it's fight with the fence =]

Don't let your guard instructor make up the routine the day before the performance!
Plus, the pole is your friend. If you toss it in the air you should be able to catch it!

Kyoko Faith Leonheart Always beware of the stupid trumpet players on the field.(sorry to any guard trumpet players.) They ALWAYS get in the way of the flag.ALWAYS. My trumpet players always find a way to step on my flag. and then they fall in their new uniforms AND stain your flag. not a pretty sight...

Never get the saber of last year's graduated head captain. When you drop it, and it breaks, said ex-captain will find you and kill you.
True story.

You should also NOT put them in the Percussion rooms, or leave them all over the Ensemble room. We had that problem this year with Guard [which I'm not in, by the way].

SerenityAerin Never EVER run over your flag with a car or let a freshman sew up the rip she madei n your flag without supervision Hi, hello, I'm a freshman and I fixed every flag that needed it during marching band on the bus on the way to competitions and I never messed any of them up, thank you very much. THe only one I didn't fix was the hole in my ballad flag since it wasn't really visible or pulling apart, plus then I knew which was mine.

...I just realized I replied to the same post twice, from two different names. I feel very smart. Sorry about that, from both demonic_bunny825 and iLOOVVEEjosh.
