A lot of occult writers define magic as a change in consciousness in conformity with the will. Take that as you may.

So, if I knock someone out by punching them in the face, I am changing their consciousness in conformity to my will. Is that magic? Or even magick?

in occult circles, many use the spelling 'magick' to differentiate what they do from what illusionists do. I picked up the practice when I was practicing witchcraft.

illusionists perform magic 'tricks'... such as pulling rabbits out of hats, card tricks, putting people in boxes and making them disappear. they are entertainers. occult persons, witches, shamans, etc practice creating change thru natural and spiritual means, some even claim to employ the assistance of spirits/daemons.

if you read the previous posts on this thread from the beginning you'll see the difference from what I'm talking about (magick) and the the magic tricks performed by illusionists.
