Harbone Ugh! I know tat feeling Alleira! For me it's noise. The more noises my body makes involuntarily, the older I know I've gotten. I'd gotten used to the farts, the bone pops, the creaks and the rumbles, but nothing quite prepares you for the flap of flesh on flesh as your skin starts to sag in... uh... unexpected places. I've taken to wearing clothes around the house more just to pad out the sound. I used to walk around in the buff, but now I'm afraid I'll catch on something! There's also love handles and lunch lady arm to contend with... I'm beginning to feel like a science fiction creature. I can definitely identify with this. But it seems like most of the people here that I have actually carried on conversations with, have been kids. and like some of the very first replies to this thread, I think, (at least I can hope) that I may have been a good ear, and offered a little advise and counciling to them.

Blaize, I love the siggy... those hecklers from The Muppet Show just crack me up! I just hate what I see in towns when I go in there to hang out with some of my friends. I've been accused of being a ***** more times than I care to count. And some of these kids just keep hammering on it, too. *sigh* It's really hard to have fun when you're trying to ignore ignorant younguns!
Like many of the rest of you, my kids are the ones who got me on here. I wanted to keep track of them and I've ended up enjoying myself on here and making friends of my own here. I've "adopted" my share of kids who wanted a mom to talk to and given out plenty of advice. It would be nice if we could stage a takeover and get rid of some of the junk on here, though, wouldn't it? rofl Couldn't you just picture that? Revenge of the geezers! ninja

You know, being accused of ***** online didn't phase me much until recently, when it rolled over into real life.
I'm moving my stuff into a new apartment and stop for a moment to watch some folks pull up in a moving van. I'm not a very social person, so I retreat and take a curious look out the window.
On my next trip up the stairs, this guy confronts me and demands to know who I am. I think this guy might be some sort of con artist or something and I just ignore him.
I come back with a third load (I have a lot of books) and the guy is writing down my license plate number. It seems he's one of the people from the moving van. He says he saw my "Gaia s***t" (some print outs I'd made of my avatar were sticking out of one of the boxes) and he knows "all about that perverted *****" and I say it's none of his business.
When I get back downstairs from the fourth load, I find myself surrounded by this howling pack of horrid women and a few unemployed-type dads.
They demand to know my name and my apartment number and they say I've no right being here. They accuse me of staring at their children.
I try to explain that I was just looking at "you moving" but the horrible, ugly, skanky, teeth-like-a-horse woman who seems to be leading the pack shouts something at me along the lines of "You hear that, y'all, he was looking at ME! I got witnesses! He was looking at me!"
And then the cops arrive. They say they've run my plates and ask if I'm a registered sex offender. Of course, I'm shocked by this and, by now, more than a little angry (I didn't like these people much to begin with and I suspect they may have been moving something illegal out of their apartment.)
After I explain a few things to the officers (No, I am not a sex offender. No, I didn't say anything to these rabid morons. No, I was just watching some people move from the window of my new apartment) the situation dies down a little, but now I'm nervous.
You see, I've just had two cars break down on my in exactly the same fashion two days apart (last week.) Both mysteriously developed transmission problems (one was a loaner my boss let me drive.)
I'm a professional delivery driver! I can't afford to be without a car! Was it my Gaia stuff that brought this on or was it just a convenient excuse for these human cattle? (I'm not going to use nice words to describe these people.)
Either way, I couldn't beleive it!
PS. On top of all that, the cops end up telling the howler monkey people my real name and my apartment number! I'd just gone through half an hour of being berated NOT TO TELL THESE FREAKS THAT INFORMATION!
Colorado Springs Police are known for pulling that kind of thing, though. I should have known (it would have been better to be lead away in cuffs and explain everything later, maybe.)

Yah know, something on here that makes me feel old is when you're honest with someone you're talking to and tell them your age and you're instantly thought of as a perv or sexual predator. neutral

Oh my. My mother is a school teacher and I dropped by to visit one day after college classes. She was busy and my internet had been down for a while so I hopped on to check my messages... Then one of my mother's students walked by and gasped, "You have one of those, too?!" Ah, did I mention my mother is a fifth grade teacher? I was rather embarrassed. But I made my first account here way back in '03! Technically, I was closer to their age when I started here. So I don't feel quite as bad as I did initially. ^__^

I'm only 22, so I don't usually get called old, but I do get the occasional "um, what are you doing here?" comment, particularly when I'm on one of my rpg sites. I'm a girl, I love games, I love comic books, and I hang out on online forums. Shock! eek

mAOri waHIne One of my students just found out that I am on Gaia and all summer while she was away in England messaged me, or played rally with me, or posted on my profile. I didn't mind and in fact, really didn't think a bit about it. UNTIL, this past Thursday, during open house night at school her parents came up to me and said "Emma says that she kept in touch with you during summer on Gaia, we were quite shocked at first since Gaia is a child's site... aren't you a bit old to be playing there?" Immediately, my ***** radar was going off. wahmbulance OMG, I hope they don't think I'm stalking their child is what came to mind. So, I quickly grabbed the Vice Principal who knew I had a Gaia account since 2004 and asked her to reassure these parents that not only did the school know of my account but that the site was not like NeoPets but a larger community with older teens and adult. The parents did not realize this and apologized. I was of course now feeling rather old for being on Gaia and bit embarassed. I love Gaia but there are days when there are just too many wee ones onboard and I feel like the oldest living Gaia online. redface young or old, why dose it matter? yes gaia seems alittlew more child based, but i believe that is to attract newer and younger users, who will, in the way most children do, talk to their friends about it. reguardless i believe that no matter the age, gaia is a good place to share your ideals without being questioned, were it also gives everyone equality. because it real life, were people know how old you are, you can't share an honest opinion because chances are that you'll be laughed at. so in the end, gaia is a place were equality is given to everyone, so they can share their ideals freely without being questioned. this is, atleast, my opinion. ---edited---- shhh, i know i shouldn't be in this forum because A. i'm not in the guild, and B. i'm only 16. but i thought "hey, why not. i'll talk to the more mature people on gaia, who arn't talking about totally retarded things."

I Washu_2004 am 34 and I am a Psychology masters degree candidate.
I mainly hang around various forums including Gaia just so I can observe people and occasionally ask people to fill in surveys for my studies, or just to attempt to find a halfway intelligent conversation that I can participate in.
I found out about Gaia and made my 1st account here in 2004 (but I forgot the password so I made this account a few years later) when I was just finishing my undergraduate biology degree. I was sitting in the refectory eating my lunch when a girl sat next to me and logged on to Gaia with her laptop, it looked interesting so I made an account.
I sometimes feel a little old around here but this is an interesting forum to visit none the less.

Noriqueen Hey Whippersnappers! I'm probably older than all of ya! lol. Yes, there are days when gaia makes me feel very old, and I remember when Transformers first came out, my SONS went crazy for them! I also remember when my SONS went crazy for the first Ninja Turtle toys too! I totally identify with the ***** suspisions. People have given me some really strange looks, and I have had some insinuations on gaia about it. However, it couldn't be further from the truth. I love gaia! I may be old on the outside, but I'm young on the inside. My kids introduced me to gaia, and once I got into it, I became like a Mom/councelor on here. I care about the kids I meet on here. Many of them need someone they can really talk to about ANYTHING. Gaia is none threatening, and hopefully, I am able to make a difference in some young peoples lives. I have met some of my gaia friends in real life, and ALWAYS it is in a none threatening environment, and I always have my own kids and a bunch of their friends with me. I wish that people would realize that gaia is a great place for all ages, and that the risks are minimal. Unfortunately, they do still exist, and precautions need to be taken. ***** are everywhere. I only wish that when they were caught, they would perform a lobotomy on them or something, instead of half the time, just giving them a slap on the wrist and releasing them to commit more crimes! Gaia rocks. For some it may be music. For others it may be rocking chairs! rofl Thankyou, thankyou all for listening to me preach! *Climbs off soapbox, picks it up, and exits* I am so understanding what you are saying surprised ! I have found some young friends in here who don't have the best home life, and actually call me their Gaia mommy smile . I give out my personnal opinions of things they are going through in their lives in an honest, yet "been there" attitude. They seem to appreciate it and invite me to be their friend. I have met people from all over the planet, but the young ones all seem to have the same issues they are dealing with. I hope I am lending a helping hand to them, because of my age heart .

I'm only 23 and I still manage to feel old here. I get kids asking me all the time "Wow, is college hard?" Like I'm the old woman of the hills. No one gets my pop culture references. And talking about Grunge is like speaking another language all together. *sigh*
I mean doesn't ANYONE remember The Tick?! It wasn't even that long ago!
