"Testy..." growls Lyssan with a hidden wink.
"Ma!" cries Tam in dismay. "They've hardly cried all morning, now that you showed me how to carry them in a sling... Bez... help me here..."
Bez shakes his head, grinning like a maniac. "Oh no you don't... I refuse to take sides in family matters..."
Tam flashes Kero a pleading look, just as Mara wakes up, completely undermining his argument with her wails.
"See?" says Lyssan grinning, gently bouncing her own bundle to keep her sister from joining the chorus.

*Kero smiles, shaking his head*
I have my own family, Tam....you're on your own, pop.

He slides the sling to one side and maneuvers the babe into a position for feeding. It seems he is growing more comfortable with his role by the day and now can handle most matters with ease.
Passura shakes his head and begins to eat, the fish melting in his mouth... he is... enraptured with the taste, eating slowly and deliberately letting the adults carry the conversation while he enjoys his meal.

*Kero gestures...and the plates begin to refill themselves...as do the main serving platters*
Aethr-born food....handy in a pinch...don't worry, Ly...it's perfectly safe....Hope eats it all the time, when he wants something quickly.

Lyssan chuckles softly, refilling her plate. I've dined on it often enough. Lived off it for an extended period of time as well... if you remember. Not much grows where Jor had me caged up. Anyway, Tam's right. The girls were asleep most of the morning. Too bad it doesn't appear that they will continue to do so. Still... we got quite a bit done. Why use magic when perfectly good hands on application works just as well. Once that fruit dries, it should keep all through the rainy season."

Tam rolls his eyes, already lifting her out of the sling. "Felt the warmth.... thank the Lady, it didn't make it's way through to the sling. We only had enough of this width of cloth to make two of these things. Ma, you know... if you could make up some of those rubber coated diaper covers you were talking about, I'd really appreciate it. I'm tired of washing sheets."
Bez snorts through his nose. "Whose washing those sheets..." he said with a knowing laugh.
Tam blushes and give him a one armed hug. "You are, dulcha... you are... but you have better things to do and we've only so many. Yesterday the bed went unmade for most of the afternoon, because that storm soaked everything you had on the line. We had no spares."

*Kero looks at Bez*
Why didn't you ask me to armor the clothesline? I can do that, you know...waterproofing is an integral part of my training, as I base my magic around Fire.
*Looks at Tam*
Please hurry...I'm already having to kill my sense of smell...

Tam slips the baby into the crook of his arm and shakes his head. "Go ahead and eat without me. I need to go next door. Didn't think to bring a spare." He waves goodbye and exists the cave, but he looks a bit crestfallen. Seems he was looking forward to joining everyone at the table, something he hasn't been able to do much of late.

There...that should do for now...

Tam smiles and give him a hug and goes off to a quiet corner to change Mara, placing the soiled diaper outside the cave entrance.
"Thanks, Kerobian. I really did miss having you around. Ye grumble at everything, but somehow, no matter how much you complain, you always make it right in the end... and that fish smells absolutely delightful."

That's just how I am, Tam. Now...are you going to praise the fish, or are you going to eat it?

"Why eat it... of course... I didn't say it was divine... who wants to worship a fish... no matter how good it smells." laughs Tam merrily.
Bez chuckles as he pushes his plate away, having polished off three helpings of the meal. "Actually I came across this tribe once that worshiped food gods... not cooked food gods, but ye know... the standard... wheat god, corn god... that sort of thing." he shuddered and shook his head. "Then they had a famine and offered up half the tribe to appease them. One of the reasons I had very little to do with humans... Yeah... they solved the famine problem Had plenty of food to go around then, but at what cost?"

*Kero nods*
Trust me...I have had to contend with some gods like that...they tried to intercede for their priests with me...and they failed miserably. I go by the shadows on the soul...and those priests were blots. Thankfully, only one god was ever so foolish as to attack. Out here, I can't fight...but in my realm...attacking me is...what's the word...oh yeah....suicide

Bez nods grimly. "Not sure they really had gods or just invented them on the spot, but they were surely fanatical in their worship."
"Then they had them..." says Lyssan quietly. "Belief is a creation process when it comes to the divine. Belief gives birth... disbelief destroys."
Bez looks confused. "I... I don't understand." he whispers half to himself.
Tam smiles at him and touches his arm. To love something, you must believe in it, if you stop believing, it no longer has worth. I have always believed in you. I may have hated your guts for a time... but I believed in you... even as you believed in Him."
Bez blushes beet red and begs to be excused, running for the entrance way.
Tam starts t follow him when Passura's hand stops him. "No, m'sari. He needs time to think, to understand."
Lyssan nods. "I agree. You've already overfilled his plate as it is. Let him digest all that first."
"But I... all I did..." He looks to Kerobian for help.
