so, does anyone know what you do if you've got a later generation of an evolving item who's first generation is completed?

What is it with this year?! My animals are detremined to get ill. A month ago my dog had a stroke and is not 100% back to normal or I suspect ever likely to be. But at 95% I'm happy. In between certain instances and now my Cat has joined in the merriment.
Was stroking him yesterday where he was asleep on my bed when I noticed a tuft of fur on top was a little sticky and clumped. Discovered he had finally met his match in a cat fight. At least I think it was the result of a fight. It looks like he got bit over the head, the wounds are not big enough or severe enough to make me think a dog did it. Most of the wounds are merely superficial, just breaking the skin but the one on top is not so good.
It's like a tooth was scraped across to make slit, nothing major but it's smells and has a bit of pus. It put him completely off his food the day I found it but he is back to stuffing his face again today so it hasn't bothered him too much, but he doesn't like me fiddling with it. Thank god Yoshi is a fairly forgiving cat with the amount of poking and fur cutting I've been doing. He has taken it in surprisingly well.
And now I have spent three paragraphs talking about it. Ugg.
Anyone else with a cat and had this? Before you ask I'm not taking him to the vet just yet. 1. I have NO money until Wednesday and 2. I would rather keep an eye on it. As it has only temporarily halted his habits.

@Lapin: That is hella odd. I wouldn't know much about that condition since it is against the law in my city to let cats roam around outside, due to rabies. However, I would recommend cleaning the area with anti-bacterial soap once a day with a moist cloth. Anything beyond that and the cat would most like not be up for it.ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY MetallicA !!!

Living in the UK means no rabies so no issue of letting him out here.

Ok, I did have a cat who got into a lot of fights once. She didn't get scraped on her head though, she got it on her rump, right above her tail. It sounds alot less serious than hers though. I'll just tell you that it got infected really badly and turned into something like a cyst, and the vet had to shave off all her hair on her back end and stick little tubes in it to drain off the fluid. As I said, it doesn't sound that bad.
It was smart to cut the hair off and clean it up, I'd also try and squeeze the puss out, or else it could get worse. Your cat will probably hate that though, but it needs to be done if you haven't already. As far as putting stuff on it? Stick to warm water - or if you decide to use an antiseptic, apply it, and then wipe the area with a wet washcloth - cat's can reach everywhere but between their shoulder blades, and you don't want him licking anything that could be toxic to him from his paws. If it gets inflamed, take him to a vet. if it's head, it could be VERY bad if it gets severely infected.
good luck/

I think I got most of the pus, it doesn't smell, at least on last check. It's developing into a slighty bumpy scab. At the moment he is really losing his patience but he's a nice enough cat that he only struggles instead of hissing and biting.

Infected wounds don't scab, they just kinda crust over. Also remember that if it's just bleeding, it's clean as well. Thank heavens your cat's cooperating XD.

I am currently listening to... the Revolver Album of The Beatles. That and Sgt. Pepper's are my two most favourite Beatles Albums.
