"I should introduce ye to this tribe of tiny head hunters I stayed with for a time, trying to convince them I was a much better ally alive than hanging from one of their totem poles.

*Hopian laughs*

Anyways....one of our tales tells of a legendary oasis. The Oase Sanguinade....care to hear of it?

Tam nods with a smile, then he turns to Kerobian. "Do you know this one, Taro? If not... get yer tablet so we can make a copy... hmmm?"

*Kero quickly returns with a tablet...and Hopian begins*

Long ago, before the miners doscivered their underground haven, there was a tribe of Vampires who despaired of finding their peace. For in those days, our people were barbaric, and saw Vampires as monsters, not as diseased lions. We hunted them down amd slew them, violently in many cases, and drove them to the center of our harsh land. This one tribe was gentle, and took no more blood than they needed to survive. Yet they were still hunted, and slain, merely for what they were. Finally, the leaders decided that they had had enough of running. They would set up by an oasis, and claim it as their own, charging a toll to those who wished to drink and could afford to give the blood. However, as all know, there are no oases in the desert's center...or so they thought. It happened that, one night, the tribe's scouts came back, telling of a strange oasis, with waters as sticky as sap. The leaders disdained at this, and punished the scouts for lying. After three sets returned with the same tale, however, the leaders themselves went out, and came back with strange news. The oasis they had found was not filled with water, but with blood. There was a deep well in the center, and it was continually putting out blood, as if it were pulling it up from the core of the earth. All the lions, thirsty for blood as they were, dashed to find this strange and wonderful discovery. They thrust their heads in and drank deeply....and their thirst was slaked, but at a terrible price. When they arose, they had changed. Their fur was white as the sand near the great lake...and their fangs had grown out of their mouths...they had become monsters....and they were now enslaved by their thirst...all because of the cursed oasis...the Oase Sanguinade...the Oasis of Blood.

Tam's eyes narrowed. "This tale... has it a grain of truth as most tales do?" he asks in a grim ominous voice.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 15, 2009 1:49 pm

*Hopian nods*

Indeed, it does...there is a race of monsters in our desert....commonly known as Bloodspawn, and they are usually assumed to be the descendants of these lions, which many believe were a tribe of Toreader, as the sink into monsterhood would have been easiest for that group. They do match the description....white fur...sunlight sensitive...jutting fangs on both sides of the mouth...their claws are yellow, and venomous, like our tails...they are monsters, ruled only by hunger and thrist...and they hunger for lion's flesh, and thirst for lion's blood...

Tam shakes his head. "A pool of unending blood.. sounds more like a killing spree... a mass induced blood lust spell, used to cover something even more insidious... like the planned murder of an entire tribe... or it's enslavement by a demon born... Forgive me, I'm only musing. My companions and I have long fought the blood born, most of our missions as guardians were against them. Yet not once had we uncovered such a pool, though we've heard of them from time to time... almost all were as I stated... tales to cover deeper evils. Is there more to your tale?"
PostPosted: Thu Oct 15, 2009 2:03 pm

*Hopian shakes his head....but flicks his eyes towards Kero...when the cub has gone to bed, after much singing and joking, and many other stories told by both Hopian and Fortuny...the former corners Tam*

Yes, Talesian...there is more to my tale...the Oase Sangunade does exist...and I have seen it....it carries the exact curse mentioned in the tale. The oasis is a natural marvel...a spell cast on the desert itself, by an ancient mage, even more powerful than all twelve of us put together...it causes any drop of blood spilt to be pulled through the sands to the center of the desert, where it is collected in a vast underground resorvoir. There, it ages, and acquires its curse....it enslaves Vampires to their bloodlust, sending them into permanent frenzy. It also makes Vampires cured before the virus could take effect, like Kero and Myself, into full Vampires, and infects the living with the virus. The bloodspawn seem to have nothing to do with it, but I never studied the oasis in depth...when I realized what it was, I hightailed it out of there.

Tam nods thoughtfully. "Then I thank you double for sharing that legend as I will report it at once to my superiors. If we can destroy it, we may not be able to save thoe it has enslaved so far, but we may help prevent others from falling prey to its curse."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 15, 2009 2:18 pm

*Hopian nods*

Good luck...it's ancient magic....we're talking the magic of the Gods, Tam...magic that would have been set down before the shattering of the original world...

Tam smiles at him and gives him a hug. "Ye could say that a few of us have been around far longer than that, old friend... ever wonder why we are called Guardians... The core of the organization is a bit divine in it's origins. It is just that occasionally we take on slightly more personal missions, tend to the healing of one over the protections of the masses... that sort of thing..."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 15, 2009 2:31 pm

*Hopian nods*

Well, if you can destroy it, I will bless you...Kero was working on something....so try to save at least a pint of the blood....he studies old magic, remember....preferably, save as much of it as you can....if he can unravel its curse, perhaps we can change the bloodspawn back, if they are indeed connected.

Tam sighed and nods. "Aye, I will try, but experience hard earned has shown us that often times when those curses are broke they pretty much take those they've touched with them. I was once in the midst of a battle that when the matron was struck down... her entire rmy went to dust in the blink of an eye... one second we were fighting for our lives and the next we were standing in a field of dead... all of whom were on our side, nothing of the opposition was left. Too bad we couldn't save out comrades." He shakes his head grimly and grimaces once more. "It is all a matter of how the original curse was constructed... how it is fed... and what keeps it going on. Now, if you excuse me... I'm going to be gone for a few hours. Think you can hold down the fort while I"m gone?"
PostPosted: Thu Oct 15, 2009 2:44 pm

*Hopian walks over, grabs a piece of paper, writes out the word fort on it, and holds it to the ground*

Hmm...be tricky...but I think I can manage....

Tam chuckles and reaches for his hat and cloak. Slams the hat on his head, tries to put on the cloak and winds up tossing it back at it's hook in frustration. "Damn wings... " he growls under his breath and slips outside, fading as he does so. As he leaves Hopian can hear him sing a song under his breath....
