Tam nods. "I did... because he was going too fast... trying things he wasn't ready to do... and I'm not unlocking them either... he will... over time... as he matures... but rather than jump into the water feet first at some point mid-ocean... wouldn't it be better if he learns to wade out from the beach?"

*Fortuny nods*

It was the same way with me and Lightning magic...

"I actually had the elder Kero help me reinforce the cub's barriers. He's not cut off from the spell spring completely... but all he can truly draw on right now is what he is capable of handling. So... if he studies hard and learns enough... when the time comes and he is mature enough to handle the spell work, he'll have a solid foundation to build on." says Tam with a thoughtful smile.

*Fortuny laughs*

I'm surprised the older Kero let you get away with it....

Tam sighs. "I didn't leave him much of a choice... I made a promise... to him and to the younger... that I would let no harm come to my charge and that I would let him do no harm... on the path Kero was walking... harm is probably the least of the damage he could have done."

*Fortuny looks scared*

How close was he to being a ravener?

Tam bends to give her a hug. "A ways to go... don't worry. We caught him in time. But he was hiding from us... keeping his research and workings hidden... without supervision..."

"What's a ravener?" asks Shar interrupting him worriedly.

*Fortuny looks at her*

A fallen Voidmage...one who is ruled by his hunger...they become monsters...

"And Kero would have become one of those... how... why?" she asks stumbling to a chair.

"Surely ye know that most mages... especially when they are young... are ruled by their magic... they need to be taught control... not only of their magic but of themselves... restraint.... patience... how not to over reach... " says Tam quietly shaking his head. "Kero's problem was, he's not mature enough yet, but the walls on his knowledge were crumbling. so his skills were fast out pacing his maturity level. And the hunger was so strong, he was willing to do things he knew were wrong to feed that hunger."

*Fortuny nods*

And of all magics, only two are more dangerous to wield than Voidic magic...Shadow...and Chaos...

"And now he will be safe?" begs Shar quietly.

Tam nods. "Yes. I know it is difficult to understand... but in many ways, his rejuvenation is a form of reincarnation. The other lives are there, within him... but they are not in conscious control... or rather they are not normally in conscious control. They hold his knowledge for him, but Kero... will not be that which he was before... he will merely be the Kero we know and love... only older and with memories he can draw on as though he has lived them... which in many ways, he has. I have spoken with them and they have agreed to hold fast to his past memories, allowing him to grow and make his own... and the shield around his spellspring are fueled by their existence. It should hold and they have a vested interest in keeping it strong."

*Fortuny nods*

I understand....did you meet Number VII?

Tam nods. "Yeah... thought he'd take my head off when I first tried to bind Kero's magic. He wasn't at all happy with me, but Luciel made him see the sense of it. Anyway, I'm heading back, m'lady... will you be joining me or do you wish to return on yer own later?"

*She smiles*

Don't worry, I can find my own way home...and Hopian says Number VII is actually very kind...you just have to befriend him, first...he was bullied during his rejuvenation, for believing in magic and liking fantasy when others cared about sports and girls.

Tam sighs. "I can guess which plane he was on when this happened as well. It was one of the reasons I pulled Kero away from there as quickly as I could. It is not a bad realm, but it does have it's drawbacks when one is dealing with magical creatures."
