Firstly, You're in no position to fight me should I decide it's needed. Secondly, quit with the self-pity. And thirdly, no, it's not always wrong to lie...or are all fiction writers evil....are our author's evil....because all fiction is is a lie, you know. There's a difference between a malicious lie and a fanciful or helping lie.

Nope...he didn't....he felt a lot better because of it too....so don't you dare tell him...he'll figure it out, and he'll be fine with it. My brother is very much a forgiving person, Tam....and he knows when someone was trying to help him...except in regards to language...and if you fix that, we will all sing your praises.
Now, do I need to whop you, or will you quit with the melodrama?

Tam sticks out his tongue at Hopian and pouts. "I was having such a good sulk... why'd ye have to go and spoil it?"

Because Saluny is in that stage, and I get an overdose of it at home. Now, what shall we talk about that doesn't involve melodrama?

Tam smiles at him and pulls out his harp. "How about I play instead. I need the practice. And you can sing if you want to. I don't mind... or just sit back and listen."
He launches into an intricate love ballad, then improvises on the melody, transforming it into a piece from the heart. adoration... betrayal... emptiness... desire.. fulfillment,... jubilation.... he runs the gamut within the confines of one single song. He plays for hours, modulating and transforming the piece until it is no longer anything like it's original template. Suddenly he stops mid strum, tears streaming down his cheeks and lets the harp slip from his bloodied numb fingers. He stares at them with a tiny sad smile and shakes his head. "I... I think I better go to bed now...." he whispers awkwardly.

*Hopian...lulled by the music, snaps out of it...taking one look at his fingers, he calls for his sister....who deosn't even appear, but Tam's fingers heal...and Hope pulls him into his bed, guiding him onto the stairs and gently setting him down*
Rest now, Talesian....you and my brother have a long road ahead of you yet...and I know the two of you will cherish every minute of it.

Tam asks him to open the bedroom window so that he might look at the moon, then he snuggles down into the blankets staring at the night sky.

*Hopian gladly opens the windows, then begins to rub Tam's back, below the wings, trying to get him to relax*

Tam begins to drip off, leaving Hopian pretty much to himself as he rubs the stiffness from Tam's back. The night air is sweet, almost heady with the scent of ripe apples, the room freshened by a gentle breeze. Tam's bed is huge... and he's shared it many times before. Yawning, Hopian curls up against him. drifting away himself. He is almost away when he hears someone whisper "Love you..." but when he opens his eyes no one is there and Tam is sound asleep.

At some point in the night, the weather changes and by morning, a storm moves in, waking them both with a loud crack of lightning. Rain is blowing in and Tam starts to get up to close the window, then stops and turns, seeing Hopian in the bed he smiles. "Stay put." he says getting up. "It's still rather early and I see no reason to get up just yet. It will be warmer if we stay together."

Tam crawls back into bed, turning about so he can face Hopian, feeling a little self conscious about lying there with his back to him. Reaching out he strokes the cat's face and whispers good night to him, before drifting back to sleep.
