Tam chuckles. "Figured as much... anyway... needless to say, I went through a lot of teachers.. learned a lot, too... I'm not half bad with a sword, though I prefer not to use one, can perform minor magics in almost all the schools and have found I'm a fair hand at shape shifting, no biggie there. I think it was imprinted with that first transformation they put on me, but I could just be a natural at it. Some people are. The teacher in question was one of me shape shifting teachers, a really persnickety person by the name of Abercrombie. He specialized in what he called signature morphing. In other words he found that part of your spirit that held your essence and helped you create a morph which resonated with it. Not sure why it intrigued me so at the time, though I know know why he did so, but all he ever wore was this huge voluptuous robe."

Tam chuckles merrily. "I now know he wore those robes because he needed something to crawl back into when he wanted to assume human form. I never needed that, you see. When a kitsune transforms their fur beocmes their clothing and when they shift back, returns as fur. Because I had been transformed into a kitsune fox... I did much the same. He did not... He kept making all these changes, crawling out of the robe, then crawling back in. I wanted to know what he was hiding in there... so one day after he crawled in and was changing back into his human form... I lifted his skirts..... and...." Tam winks, "Got a lesson on human anatomy instead. He wasn't happy with me... nope... not one bit..."

Tam shows him rather than tells him. It really isn't a scene easy to describe, too much happening all at once.
An otter is darting under the edge of a heavy velvet robe and Tam is creeping up on it, he lifts the hem just as a foot begins to extend from the bottom, almost getting kicked in the face. Startled he jumps into the air, hovering in place, even without his wings, pulling the robe straight up and off his teacher... just as his mother walks into the room to check on their progress.
Lyssan doesn't bat an eye. She merely goes over, takes the robe and dresses the stunned teacher. Then she proceeds to scold Tam for flying in the house, saying absolutely nothing about the man being stark naked only moments before.
Tam breaks the connection and smiles. "It kind of goes downhill from there. He started yelling at Ma, she started yelling at him, Dad comes in and tells me to go run laps until he gets things straightened out and well... the rest is history... shortest stay for a teacher in the keep's history. He had his bags packed and he was gone by nightfall.

*Hopian rolls his eyes*
Okay...perhaps I should show you one of ours, in return:
*Tam sees a strange sight...two cubs, not yet white and black, rather tawny and coppery-gold....slinking along the floor of a cave...each one with a small gemstone in their paws....as they move in, they freeze, for a great lion has rolled over...but he did not awaken, causing a mutual sigh of relief...they pick their way through the maze of bodies, as the pride contained more than 30 individuals...and finally reach the center. Placing the sirensong crystals near the ears of the king and queen, and amplifying their magic with a pair of diamonds each, the two cubs try to pick their way across...but cannot make it...before.....Caterwauling.,...Noise....screeching....the lions all jump ten feet in the air....and come down on the two miscreants...at this point, Hopian cuts to speech*
And let's say we found ourselves in a compromising position....compromising meaning we found ourselves immediately made unable to sit, by means of application of a paw to a venom gland...for a month, two in my case.

Tam smiles knowingly. "I wonder why.." he says dryly. "Soooo... tell me why ye think I altered my story... and I'll tell you if yer right. Can ye remember why I used it with him in the first place?"

*Hopian eyes him*
If I remember correctly, you were trying to make him feel better about being paddled by Shar....damn, that is one strong female....I felt it clear in another world!

Tam nodded. "Truth is... that was the one time I ever did come even close to a paddling... the only time I ever feared one... Da was all for running me around the paddock during sword practice and he wasn't gentle. I'd have bruises for weeks, but I always had a chance to fight back... ha,as if I could. The one time I did beat him was a fluke. And Ma would stick me in the kitchen where I'd stand for hours with my arms in suds up to me armpits... but no spankings. But he was so miserable..." Tam hangs his head. "Ye know... I never saw it as lying to him, but yer right... it was. Damn..."

*Hopian moves in, and while he can't do much, does manage to smack the top of Tam's head gently*
How many times do I have to tell you, Talesian?!??!!???!!!????!!!!?????!!!!! Kero didn't trust you because he was warping....we don't trust anyone at that point, not even our closest friends.
As for doing him good, is it wrong to tell a kid about Santa Claus, or the Tooth Fairy, if doing so enriches their lives? Not one bit....you did him a favor with that lie, Talesian...and I bless you for it. Now pull yourself together, or I'll see to it you get your first whopping when you go upstairs....maybe knock that stupidity out of you!
