"Evil is often much closer...than one would expect."

[Darkness. The waves hungrily engulfed the tom's body, swallowing him and pulling him into the endless, dark depths of the ocean. Foxfire saw his paws in front of him, but they would not obey him. He wanted to paddle, to swim back to the surface, but his body would not listen.]
"So this is how it ends?
[Such an anticlimatic ending to a cunning villain. Not more than a sunset ago he had killed by pushing Echosong down to these hungry waves, and now he was doomed to die by their hands. What an irony. Starclan's will? Hah, Starclan had no control over him, he was a dark forest cat through and through.

As if in answer to his wishes, he suddenly felt his body being lifted, the water surging past his fur. The waves churned and pushed his body up until his head broke the surface. As if being merciful to him, the waves had tossed him onto a rock jutting out of the surface. His eyesight blurred as he coughed and vomited all the water he had swallowed, as well as coughing up all the water in his lungs. His lungs burned with each breath he took, but he was alive. He was alive. Mosstar's attempt to kill him had failed, and she herself must be close to dying. What a joke! Starclan really must be on his side! He was so happy, he could have laughed out loud...

...What he didn't see, however, was a giant tidal wave behind him, bigger than any of the previous waves. The huge wave covered and swallowed him whole again, before he knew what was happening. He felt himself tossed and turned like a toy, his body slamming into countless rocks and buffeted by the huge weight of the water. Pain shot through his body once again as he felt many bones snapping and shattering, from being tossed into jagged rocks.

It all lasted only about a minute or so, he didn't even have time to take a breath, before he felt his head break the surface again. This time, he found himself in a dry cove, and his blurring vision focused on...Mosstar and Griffonpaw. Foxfire's body was broken beyond repair, many bones shattered - including his back. His body looked like a grotesque distortion from being toyed the ocean, his chest caved in at several places, his back twisted and his limbs sticking out at odd angles. He couldn't even feel anything beyond his neck anymore...

His eyes filled with hatred as he gazed at Mosstar's unmoving body, his lips lifting into a fierce, hateful snarl - the last expression he would ever make in his life. Blood slowly dripped from his mouth, his shattered ribs having punctured his lungs.]
"Curse you, Mosstar, this isn't over yet...I'll...be back."
[He growled between difficult gasps of breath, before his head dropped onto the sand and he moved no more. His eyes were still open, still filled with hate...his snarling expression was so terrifying that it seemed like he would start moving any moment. Though of course, he was dead...no longer would Foxfire bring death, and no longer would he manipulate others to do his bidding. It was over.

Or was it?]

(Terminator reference ftw! :3 )

-----------------------------------------------------------

((Alright guys, say good-bye to Mosstar sad ))

[Mosstar's golden eyes filled with happy tears.] "G-Griffonpaw...my daughter..." Mosstar whimpered like an injured kit. [The presence of a familiar dark aura entered the cove. After resting for a bit, Mosstar had the energy to lift up her head. And so she did and once she did, her vision picked up the figure of Foxfire. However his body was distorted.
Mosstar showed no fear as she gazed upon the warrior, however his last words brought chills down her spine. But once he did, he died. When death comes upon all cats, they close their eyes and have gentle facial expression, as if they're deep in an enjoyable slumber. However not for Foxfire. For his face still showed unforgiving and terrifying facial expression. The tom wasn't satisfied, his murders hasn't ended. Especially without having Mosstar's blood stained upon his deadly claws, his goal wasn't over.
The SeaClan leader couldn't care less for Foxfire's needs. All she worried about was being apart from her daughter. Her life was slowly leaving her fragile body. The sound of ocean's currents started to get dimmer and dimmer.]
"That pathetic traitor..." Mosstar muttered, looking up at the sky. "He believes that my life isn't over...however it is. Finally I will get to see the great StarClan...unfortunately i'll be separated from my loved ones..." Mosstar whispered as she looked up at her daughter.
[Her dull golden eyes met her beautiful blue ones. Griffonpaw's eyes reminded Mosstar of the ocean. Beautiful but dangerous. While the tears fled from Mosstar's eyes, the exhausted she-cat smiled at her daughter, despite the throbbing pains in all her limbs.] "This will be the last time we see each other, my daughter. I'm afraid StarClan's greed can't wait anymore. Even if....if...I-I didn't g-get to experience t-treasuring moments with y-you..." Mosstar said, her tone gradually growing into a whimper. "Listen Griffonpaw, you must do me a favour. Once the clan discovers that my death has possessed me, I want you to bury my body near the beautiful ocean." she whispered. "Even if I won't have the chance of coming back to this land, I want my body to rest near the ocean. Only because it reminds me of you. Griffonpaw, just like the ocean you contain beauty that no one can compete against. Your beauty is natural...just like the ocean. However you have strength. Willing to harm others just to protect your loved ones...i'm so proud of you. And I must say...I was just like you when I was an apprentice. However when I leave this earth, I want my lifeless body to be in company to the most beautiful yet closest piece of nature that resembles you well. The ocean." Mosstar said, in a weak tone.

[The she-cat's eyes dipped into a deep frown. She knew what she was had to do. With one swift motion, she shot her snout in the air. Lips parted, ready to yowl.]

"Griffonpaw! StarClan will accept you as a warrior! From this day forth, you will be known as, Griffonsea!" Mosstar yowled proudly. "I love you, Griffonsea. Be like the ocean! Share your beauty with the rest of the clan, yet protect them against harm with the strength of the ocean's currents! Take care of SeaClan, Griffonsea."

[All that motion caused her to lose the her remaining energy. The she-cat collapsed upon the rough ground, her eyelids covering her lifeless eyes. There laid, the SeaClan leader...the previous SeaClan leader. Inside the chest, her heart beated its last, scarce stream of blood. Then, it stopped.
Mosstar, a she-cat who dedicated herself to SeaClan. And not only her SeaClan but to Griffonpaw and Foampoppy.]

Griffonsea

Female | Rogue | Single | Bio | Storyteller

Lost and found
forsake me now
or let me return home!

[Griffonpaw gasped as her mother awoke, burying her nose into her fur as emotion choked her voice into silence.
She was happy. So happy!
Hysterical laughter bubbled over her and she shuddered with it, relief over her face. She began to lick her mother's head, trying to dry her off, and began attempting to tug her over the rocks.
But it was no use! They were both streaming with water that made their pelts twice as heavy, and any energy she once possessed had been drained by her desperate swim in the ocean.
Her heart dropped as she recognized her mother's struggle to breathe, horror filling her already trembling body.

No...you can't leave me! Not now! NOT after you woke up! she cried inwardly, eyes round with fresh grief.
But it was impossible to deny.

Her mother was dying.

She hiccuped, eyes narrowing with agony. She spat angrily to the sky, tail lashing.
Why must you take another mother from me, StarClan?! WHY?!
Her grief overwhelmed her, along with the events that had happened within the past few moments.

Her ears twitched as she heard Dragonfire calling her name. She looked up with a dull, glazed look, feeling as if the call had come from another world.
Despite her exhaustion, she felt a twinge of hope. Dragonfire was a strong she-cat, determined and brave...she could help save Moss-star if nobody else could-!

Her attention returned to her mother as she began to speak, eyes wide with pain and longing.
And regret.

Every word.
She listened to every word, the roar of the sea and the chilling cold that gripped her bones melting into mute silence.
Her nose twitched at the mention of her mother's last life. No! Couldn't be! She had hoped her mother would at least have ONE life left-!
Her face scrunched together with pain, and she bit her lip, resisting the urge to blurt out a protest. Her ears twitched as her mother likened her to the ocean she had loved all her life. Her eyes were round, sad pools of blue, and they brimmed with emotion.]

"I don't want to bury you, mommy," she begged in a half-whisper, agony shuddering through her small frame. "P-please don't say such things-! I had to bury one mother already, just-!"
[She lowered her head, wincing, then raised it, listening to Moss-star's speech once more. Her ears pricked in shock as she was renamed, and she felt a mix of grief and pride at the name.

No, her Clan wasn't there to cheer her name.

But her mother had given it to her.

That was all she needed.

She felt a sob rip through her as her mother spoke her last words- her own name- and buried her nose in her mother's fur once more, gritting her teeth as she felt the life leave her mother's body.
She moaned, rocking back and forth as she groomed her mother's fur in silent desparation, but then the moan grew to a wail, and the wail to a yowl.

She screamed into the air with a mixture of agony, pain, heartache, guilt, fury, and remorse.

It was an ominous sound.

The smell of Foampoppy suddenly overwhelmed her, and she raised her head tiredly to see her foster mother's glimmering spirit watching her with undoubted love.

"Don't fret, my love," she mewed kindly. "We will watch over you together. You, our daughter and our hope. Live on and show them what the power of the ocean can do..."

Her eyes widened as she saw the spirit of Moss-star rise from the ground and pad next to her mother. The spirit glanced back at her, pride in her eyes.

Heed my words, my daughter... a voice whispered in her mind.

Then the two she-cats turned and walked into the sea, their shimmering forms swept away by the powerful waves.
She closed her eyes and shook, feeling pain wash over her. Pain...but hope. Hopeful pain...

She rose unsteadily to her feet as Dragonfire suddenly approached, finally arriving after climbing over the impossibly rocky cove, her eyes bearing horribly fresh pain and grief.]

"Griffonsea," she corrected, raising her head weakly but proudly. "My...my name is Griffonsea now."

[And, all at once, Griffonsea collapsed, the exhaustion, horribly torturous emotions, and absolute resignment taking over her.

Her heart was nothing but a hollow, empty shell.]

I want to stay free
so bring to me
the endless spray of foam!

Perhaps I'll defeat your fiery flames
or lose myself among the fray.

[Gingerpaw stared out into the deep ocean, she heard a loud yowl. She quickly glanced over at Griffonpaw, Dragonfire, and a body that layed on the ground. Her eyes widened as she quickly raced over to them. Before she could say a word, she just stared at the lifeless body of Mosstar. Lifting her head up, she saw Foxfire's body as well. Tears welled up in her eyes, for Mosstar but also Foxfire. She never knew him that well, but she had always respected him like any other cat like her mother told her too.] "How did-" [She started, but couldn't say another word. Her eyes trailed over to Griffonsea who laid on the ground as well, but from exhaustion. "Griffonpaw, I'm-" [Gingerpaw stopped herself for she had nothing to say.]

One's pride is like a raging fire...

[Panting from running so fast over and under the rocky environment of the ocean's cliff Dragonfire gasped as she got a closer look at the horrid scene. Mosstar lay still upon the rocks, next to the distorted form of what she guessed to be Foxfire. Running right past Griffonpaw she sat at her leader's side, nugging her with her white paw. Nothing, Mossstar had become as silent as the rocks, and as distant as the horizon far across the sea. Slowly, the gladiator's fangs reviled themselves in rows, like warriors lined up next to each other ready for battle. Who DARE rob her of her leader! She could see Mossstar and her daughter in the distance, hoping desperately that she could have talked with her one last time!!! ONE LAST TIME!!!]

"YOU PIECE OF FOX DUNG!!!"

[She snarled as she slapped Foxfire's lifeless face letting a loud smake sound echo in the coves. Her enraged expression began to calm as she glared upon the traitor, she always knew he was up to something, she just never expected it to have been upon this large of a scale. He was dead, he could not feel it.... unfortunately. Silently she turned to Griffonpaw.]

".....Im... Im sorry Griffonpaw. If only i had stopped Foxfire sooner instead of letting him slip out of my paws just because i couldn't catch him in the act."

"Griffonsea. "My...my name is Griffonsea now."

"Im sorry what did you say?"

[As she had asked her responding question Griffonsea had begun to collapse. Dragonfire gasped as she sprung froth, catching her.] "OI! Hay now mate now is NOT the time to pass out! Who is going to help me carry Mossstar, and Echosong!! And, oh, hello there..." [ A small apprentice,
Gingerpaw was it, had found her way upon the rocks. Typical, it was only a matter of time before someone heard the cries. The gladiator checked her surroundings, seeing if anyone could help her carry the bodies. No one.]

"Oi! kit, help me out here. I don't think you are big enough to carry anyone so maybe you can run along ahead and get me some help over here yes?

[Lifting Griffonsea onto her back was no problem, being the small cat that she is, but carrying her and mossstar would be a challenge. Carefully she lifted Mosstar upon her back as well and began moving at a slow crawl she inched her way back to sea clan.]

Well Mosstar, i have to say i didn't expect to have to ever carry you back to camp again, although i have to say that i preferred the last time over now. Funny... you seem so much lighter now that you are gone...

...If left untamed it will burn you to the ground."

[Gingerpaw looked up at Dragonfire, she nodded. Though she was ticked off that Dragonfire had called her a kit, she couldn't bother with it now. This WAS important. As quickly as her little legs could carry her, she raced over back to Seaclan. She stopped in front of Troutail out of breath.] "Moss-star and Foxfire died. Dragon--fire needs ---- help bring--ing them back to---camp," [She said breathlessly. She took a deep breath before continuing.] "They are near the ocean. And..... I think that Griffonpaw is now Griffonsea." [Gingerpaw sounded a bit bossy, but that was her personality and she didn't mind. At least she was helping out, trying to help out. She looked at the warrior with an expectant look as if saying, "Well, what are you going to do?" She would of said it if she wanted to out loud, but she it was better not to. Gingerpaw would most likely get scolded or worse, check for ticks and other sorts for elders. She didn't mind doing it, but she would rather do something else.]

"It takes courage,
To grow up and become who you really are"

[Shiftpelt sat in camp, letting her eyes graze over everything that went on. Elders told stories, kits played and listened to said stories. Warriors and apprentices came and left. An average day in SeaClan. Nothing was going badly and hopefully nothing would. The odd colored she cat lazily turned her head toward a sound, running paw steps, coming from the entrance of the camp. It was Gingerpaw. Immediately she had gone for Trouttail, normally Shiftpelt wouldn't think anything of it but the urgency in the she-cat's face perked Shiftpelt's interest. She stood and approached she caught bits and pieces. 'Bring them back to camp' and 'Griffonsea.' Griffonsea? She meant Griffonpaw surely? Perhaps Mosstar held a private ceremony, but that wasn't like her, nor like any leader Shiftpelt had heard of.

Shiftpelt, her curiosity at new heights, padded out of camp, not particularly in a hurry because she didn't know the full extent of the situation. She followed the train Ginerpaw had left behind. She was nearing the sea. Why wound an apprentice be so close to such a dangerous force? She continued to follow the scent when what she laid her eyes on was a shock. It was a disaster. Mosstar and Griffonsea on Dragonfire's back. The she-cat rushed forward in a panic.]

"What happened?" she questioned, coming up beside Dragonfire and transferring Griffonsea to her back.

(If this isn't alright I'll edit smile ))

STONEKIT

[Stonekit looked up as a breathless Gingerpaw entered the camp. He blinked twice at her news. Foxfire and Moss-star were...dead? He thought for a moment. He wasn't sure who Foxfire exactly was; just another warrior, but Moss-star. That was...the leader! He blinked in suprise. She was important, that's what his dad had told him some time before he himself had died. He nodded thoughtfully, but was slightly alarmed. What would they do now, since Moss-star was dead? The role of leader, it would get handed over to Shiftpelt, correct? He cocked his head to the side for a moment curiously. Interesting, interesting indeed. He sighed sadly. His dad had wanted to be leader one day. His claws dug into the ground angrily under himself. Yes, but that had been already spoiled even before Shiftpelt was handed the role. Father had said that it was because Burningpelt was stupid. Stonekit snorted. Yes, that was definitely the truth. She was StarClan-awful at hunting, and wasn't a contribution to the Clan at all! The kit hated seeing her at all during the day.]

One's pride is like a raging fire...

[As Dragonfire dragged herself, Griffonsea, and Mossstar forward she was already one forth of the way there before Shiftpelt, Seaclan deputy ran to her side and helped lighten her load. She never really payed the deputy much mind before, but boy was she glad to see her now!] "Why ello mate! About TIME! What took you so long? Oh, right what happened. I came in a bit late but i could still put two and two together. That traitorous snake Foxfire murdered Echosong and then Mossstar. I assume he tried to get Griffonsea as well but failed, the pathetic little mouse..." [She said with a scolding hiss in her words.] "After this i will be going back to get Echosong, Foxfire... he can rot on the rocks for all i care. You can get em' if you really want to."

[ With a heavy heart she walked back to camp along side Shiftpelt. The pain she felt withing was the same she felt when she had lost her mother, all because she did not stay and fight... and now, she had lost her leader, the one who welcomed her to the free world with open arms!

She was gone....

gone....

It just wasn't FAIR! How come whenever she had something of importance to guard it would always slip right through her paws because of her shortcomings!? If she wasn't in Shipftpelt's company she would have let out an enraged roar to the sky, cursing the sun and moon and any other thing that was around!

Once she reached camp she walked out into the middle, so that all of Mossstars warriors could see her, and what Foxfire had done. With a pained look on her face she gently placed her honorable leader, the only one she looked up to, onto the soft, green grass. She let out a mournful cry for all to hear. Crying was a sign of weakness to be hidden at all cost, but Dragonfire didn't care. Let them see, them them know that she cared with all her heart! From her tears she spoke to Mossstar, wishing that she was here to hear her.]

"Mossstar, i promised you that i would follow you no matter where you would lead me. I mean that with my soul. Even if you are not here, you are still my leader."

STONEKIT

KitXXX|XXXMaleXXX|XXXSeaClanXXX|XXXTroublemaker

[Stonekit stared as Moss-star's body was carried into camp by Shiftpelt. An orange and white she-cat padded alongside the deputy. He blinked. She seemed to have been hit hardest by the news. His eyes narrowed slightly. How though?! She had only been in the Clan a little longer than Stonekit himself had been born, which was a little over six moons ago. How could she feel any mourning feelings if she barely knew the leader? His hackles rose for a moment, but he sighed. It didn't matter.

Suddenly, the orange she-cat let out a pained cry and began meowing something that further angered the tom. He snorted, shaking his head. Was this cat stupid or something? How was a dead leader supposed to lead a living cat? Saying such soppy things wouldn't bring her back. A slow sigh whistled past Stonekit's slacken jaws though. It was all just pointless.

Standing up, the gray and white tabby padded over to the body, sitting down in front of the body, being sure to keep his distance from Dragonfire. Despite the bitterness of his previous reactions, he still carried respect for the leader, of course. She was a leader, after all.]

"It takes courage,
To grow up and become who you really are"

(Your guy's school year is done now...isn't it?")

[Shiftpelt was, to say the least, shocked that Foxfire would do such a thing. He had seemed a loyal warrior through and through but obviously that hadn't been the case. The deputy looked down at the ground with indecision. Though Foxfire was a traitor it would be wrong to leave his body amongst the rocks.]

"Lead me to his body later, if you will." She would understand if Dragonfire was uncomfortable with the request and if need be would follow the traitor's scent trail and bring him back for a burial.

[The importance of the situation dawned on her. She had been named deputy, and now within the same day was expected to become leader. Shiftpelt shook her head as she walked, trying to clear it. So many things to worry about now. She knew what she needed to do, but she also had other responsibilities.

Slowly padding into camp, the two toned she-cat padded into the medicine cat den and carefully lowered Griffonsea into the nest. She would get the help she needed. She turned her attention to the clearing. First she would no doubt need to talk to Griffonsea, then call a clan meeting...correct? The clan needed to know what had transpired. Then she would embark on her journey and hopefully StarClan would accept her as the new leader of SeaClan.

All these things running through her mind were a distraction, even as Shiftpelt padded out into the clearing. She sat close to Dragonfire, not daring to even whisper to the she-cat. She was mourning in her own way, just as Stonekit showed his respect and just how silently Shiftpelt's heart broke. She had come to respect the leader and think of Moss-star as kin. Now she was gone, but not truly. Surely she was watching them from StarClan. The deputy turned her head toward the sky and sighed.]

"You've left us in quite a mess, Moss-star." she said, "I only hope you knew what you were doing."
