"In case you hadn't noticed, I'm on my way to retrieve your precious Fused whatever." Link retorted, his voice low and icy. "Unless you have some other plan, I suggest we do as the Light Spirit said. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to do something useful, like save a Light Spirit or something." he added, promptly turning around and heading back across the bridge.

(Maybe he is irritated to begin with?)

Coremean looked sadly at the ground. He knew what it was like losing something important to you. His little sister must be terrified now. He gripped his swords tightly. Well, he said to himself, I'll do what I can sis, I'll come to you as soon as I can.

Midna hissed in frustration. The good thing was that nobody had seemed to notice her slip-up. The Hero was spoken about highly in the Twilight Realm. Midna's opinion sunk lower and lower. "Well, whatever," she muttered, sinking into Link's shadow.

Zelda covered her eyes with her hand as she hurried through the gate and rejoined Link. "I'm sorry," she whispered sheepishly. "Midna's just really upset and... um... worries about the Queen. She's about as annoyed as you are." She looked back across the bridge, and her heart skipped a beat. "What is... that?!"

Brainwashed soldiers made their way to Ordon Village. The Bulbin King led the way, blocking the end of the bridge.

Coremean blanched. He never liked monsters, and what's worse, they were coming straight for them. He swallowed his fear and notched an arrow in his bow.

Link sighed and was about to respond when movement on the other side of the rope bridge caught his attention. The presumable King of the Bullbins was astride a huge boar, grinning wickedly from ear to ear as mindless Castle Town soldiers lumbered across the far wooden slats, steadily making their way across. Link gritted his teeth, and whipped out his trusty slingshot. Noticing that Cormean was ahead of him, he grinned. "I think I know which one of us will do more damage!" he joked, setting a Deku seed into the strap of his measly weapon.

Coremean gave an uneasy smile. "I don't know about you, but I'm not that strong..." He pulled back the arrow and aimed for the Bullbin King.

Link didn't reply, but stuck out his tongue in concentration as he aimed for one of the soldiers who was halfway across the bridge. After a moment, he let a seed fly, and it struck the guard's helmet right in between the eyes, sending him reeling back in surprise. Link let out a triumphant yell, then set more ammo in a pile next to him as he knelt on the dirt path.

"Crap," Midna muttered. "Not you again..." It seemed the whole universe was intent on keeping her from taking the throne again... or from collecting even one other Fused Shadow.

Zelda pulled her bow and notched three arrows. "Don't hurt the guards too much," she warned. "They're under a spell... feel free to kill the guy on the pig, though." She shot all three arrows at the same time, sending them clattering against the helmets of the soldiers. They stumbled, knocking even more soldiers down.

Midna stared at the Bulbin King. "Isn't that the guy that knocked Link out in the first place? He showed up out of nowhere and crashed the village."

The Bulbin King let out a massive roar and barreled down the bridge, apparently intending to run them all over.

Zelda froze. She was not as brave as Link, despite all her talk. She was skilled, but skill was nothing if it wasn't paired with guts. She had guts, yes, but not enough to face down a three-ton beast, which is why she stood stock-still as the Bulbin King hurtled towards her.

Link scowled as the boar leapt from board to board, intent on reaching the other side. His rider grinned form ear to ear, steering towards the frozen princess, as the bridge dramatically sagged under the sudden weight. "Alright, you want to play chicken? Fine, we'll see who's chicken," he muttered, stowing his slingshot and drawing his sword. The elegant sword fit snugly in his clenched left hand, where a small set of triangles glowed softly.

Link was standing with the tips of his boots at the edge of the swaying bridge, waiting for the lumbering boar to get up to the right speed. With a deep breath, Link steadied himself, then dashed out onto the suspended bridge. Instinct took over Link's senses, and right when he crossed paths with the raging Bulbin, he sliced sideways and up, effectively disabling one arm and sending the king flying off his steed and onto the narrow bridge. Link was already turned around and waiting for the next blow, but as the Bulbin King stood up, several of the ropes snapped form the increase in weight and pressure. Horror clouded Link's face, as the ropes frayed and the bridge gave way, sending boar, Bulbin and Link plummeting down into the abyss.

The king shrieked and wailed as he fell, an eerie sound that echoed past stone and trees and sent goosebumps up listeners' spines. Link fell as well, but one of the ropes tangled around his right wrist, simultaneously dislocating his shoulder and saving his life. Link let out a shout of pain and surprise, but bit his lip too keep any more sound from escaping. He let his sword dangle uselessly in his left hand, and glanced back up at Zelda, Midna, and Cormean. "Could one of you think of some clever way to get me up?" he asked sheepishly, as beads of sweat began forming on his nose and forehead.

Coremean almost yelped when he saw Link. Seeing how Link was dangling, Coremean rushed over to the rope that held Link. "Hold on Link! This might hurt so I'll be as careful as possible!" Coremean grabbed hold of the rope and pulled as fast as he could, which to his dismay, was painstakingly slow.

Zelda blinked as what had just happened was absorbed. Then she was kneeling over the abyss. "Give me your sword," she called. "And I know this is going to sound cliche, but... don't look down."

Midna floated in the shadow of the cliff. She bit her lip to keep from giggling. "That was... kind of funny," she admitted. "I heard the pop. That probably hurt a lot. You humans break rather easily!" She was still in a bad mood, but teasing Link made her feel a lot better. This was fun. Link got mad way too easily.

Link scowled. "Hahaha, very funny," he remarked, grunting in pain as he passed his sword up to the princess. "At least I have a real body, instead of relying on someone's shadow," he added, wiping a few beads of sweat off of his forehead.

Andarlo rushed to Links aid just as Coremean did the same. He felt horrible as he was not able to help the others in the battle as he didn't have any ranged weapons. "Hang on Link, we're coming." He had heard the sound of Links shoulder cracking so he knew that particular extent of his injuries.

They finally managed to get Link back up on the on the ground. "Don't worry Link, we'll help you. Okay, does anyone have a bag. I need to fill it with some rock to a weight of ten pounds.

(I'm going to incorporate some real first aid in here. So, if you guys don't mind letting me do it I would like to do it.)

Link groaned as he was hauled over the edge. His right arm hung limply by his side as he tumbled onto the solid earth and collapsed onto his back, panting with the effort and suppressed pain shooting through his sided. He weakly grappled with his belt, and unhooked a leather pouch. "Here, this might help. If not, you have free reign to use my hat," he muttered through gritted teeth as his shoulder was jostled slightly. Although his feet still hung off the edge of the cliff, he was much too tired to do anything about it as he handed his pouch over to Andarlo.

"Alright then." Andarlo looked around then he saw what he was looking for. "Hey Link, can you make it to that rock over there?" he said while pointing towards a large rock. "If you can, then I'll need you to lie down on your stomach." Andarlo said.
