It's okay, it happens. Watch any interesting movies/tv shows lately?

I saw Into the Woods a week or so ago. It was really good.

I'm surprised by how much they fit in and how well they did it.

Well, I wouldn't think they'd need to cut anything? Since Broadway Musicals are about as long as a movie?
Usually I think they add songs to movie versions to make up for intermission time.
Or drug-induced ballet sequences in the case of Oklahoma...

Into the Woods is a longer than normal musical, if I remember correctly. They have a "Junior" version that ends... Maybe a little halfway through? It's a spot that makes sense for an ending, I just can't remember how far in it is.

I always thought the early ending was so that they could trick the kids into believing it had a typical "happily ever after".
On the subject of trying to make Sondheim musicals child-friendly, I once went with a classmate to an amateur production of Sweeney Todd. They planned to include the, ah... controversial Johanna (Mea Culpa), but they took one look at my classmate's twelve year-old brother and immediately abandoned that idea. Because murder and cannibalism are fine, but dirty old men are a no-no!

Probably another reason, though it still isn't very child friendly. The step sisters still get parts of their feet chopped off and other such things.

It's been a really long time since I last saw Into the Woods, but I vaguely remember Act 1 ending on a not-too-grim point. Herm.

It ended all storybook, but a guy got flung into and blinded by thorns, the cow died, the step sisters got bits of their feet cut off... It's kinda violent.
