"You should have thought about that before sticking it on a dragons head." He sticks his tongue out at her as he adjusts the tiara to sit more firmly on his head. He turns towards Cid only to see her walking off again. "Ah, well I guess I won't get the knights opinion."

Arron would take Kate out to the dance floor & would do his best to keep in time to the music. He was still not used to the even weight from his arm, so it was putting him ever so slightly off balance despite being a decent dancer.
"W-Well... How are y-you enjoying the ball?" he asked the mage with a small smile.

"Now that's just stupid. If they aren't hurting anyone then who cares?"

Kate smiles. She could see he was trying to keep in time with the music. "It's been great so far! I've always loved these sort of events. What about you?"

Beast Within -Anon-

"Exactly. However," she said, shrugging her shoulder, "what can you do with the stupidity of the world? Even children were accused."

Opinion? Of...oh they were talking about the bit of metal on his head! "It makes you very easy to see!" she called over with a small laugh, pointing to her ears. Metals always had helped her with their lovely resonances.

"It's been f-fun!" he said with a smile, "N-Not often I get cleaned up to see my-my friends!" As the music sped up, so did their pacing.

"Always well enough for a party." As the air warmed up, Minty shrugged off the jacket, handing it back to Astraeus without a word, not wanting to embarrass Phantom. She frowned, trying to brush some of the stray sparkling substance that had clung to the jacket off her shoulders. It did not seem to want to budge so much as smear everywhere. Well then. 90s body-glitter prom look it was. She should have gone with the holo lipstick.

"Oh, you saw my sextent, did you?" Minty pulled out the tool again. Did her dress have pockets or something? There was barely enough room in the gown for Minty. Where was she keeping it. "I got a little lost earlier, but I'm back on track now. Just have to wait for my ride to recharge. Did you want to see it?"

Minty offered the brass tool to Phantom. It was old, but well kept. The regular hash-marks for measuring angles ran along the curve, but the writing marking the numbers was foreign. What parts of the brass weren't being used for measurements was covered in floral filigree and careful examination revealed dragons winding through the blossoms.

With the music now sped up a little, their pacing changed to match it. The mage chuckles. "True, I guess."

As the dance continued, the mechanic grew curious. Kate could see a thoughtful frown on his face. "...Why do you want to dance with Lyth too?" he finally asked.

And, there was the question. She took a moment to answer. "I think everyone here deserves at least one dance; Lyth included," Kate replied, smiling.

The Phantom floated even closer, looking the finely crafted device over. Rather than taking hold of it, she merely leaned in, hands clasped behind her back, and gazed at it. For a sextant, it was surprisingly well detailed. "I was not aware these were still used. Surely it is archaic given the current technologies available?"

The mermaid watched her two friends dancing, for a little while at least. In her opinion, they looked very elegant. ...Then again, mermaids were not known for their dancing skills on land.

Waiting patiently for her turn, she helped herself to some more strawberries and happily nibbled away at them.

Cid seemed to pause in her own munching of fruit and slowly turned to the newcomer to the table. Someone...was...eating...the fruit. The undeniably fragrant smell of the delicious treats was unmistakable as bit by bit they were devoured by the culprit. And the knight scooted closer. And closer. Until she was next to River. "Hello...so...you...you like fruit too?" the blind knight asked, a small smile present. Fellow appreciator of the delectable substance? Possible comrade of the bearers of sweet and juicy?

"Well, 'current' is a relative term." Minty adjusted how she was holding her tool so Phantom could get a better look at it, "Besides, it always works. Never runs out of batteries, never loses contact with the positioning satellite, never sparks out in places of low or no magic. It's reliable. And sentimental, so bonus."

"Sentimental? How so?" Done with her inspection of the sextant, the Phantom straightened.
