Thork would spend two healing sieges, and after Mercy's check would try to open the first door she checked

Aelgeirr nodded as he slowly regained his cool. His spear almost came to rest as things came together. Sehenine's avenger went off to scout and Aelgeirr turned his attention to her direction while she did so It was then that the greenskin rushed forward and opened up the door that Mercy just checked, seemingly with no communication from her. It was at this point that Aelgeirr stood, with spear at the ready.

Thork would not wait for confirmation of the safety of the doors, opening the first one that piqued his attention. Opening the door in the center of the hall to the left, Thork would reveal a large chamber. Thanks to Mercy's proximity and her sunrod handy, Thork was able to see a little bit into the room.

The room was large (though not in terms of height), and there seems to be several slabs of stone littered throughout it. The stones were arranged in such a way that smaller ones surrounded a central bigger one, this motif repeating again and again. There were some objects atop the center slabs, but without going into the room to investigate, or at least bringing Mercy's lightsource to the doorway Thork stood in, it would be unclear to the Half-orc what they were.

Thork would not notice nor hear any habitation within the chamber, though much beyond the stretch of light reaching out from the opened doorway was obscured from his sight.

Thankfully, the orc's impulsiveness did not lead to another battle.Aelgeirr would move up behind the two to see what was revealed. "So, are you going to run in and check this out too or are you going to move on?"

Thork would rummage though his new pack, as Aelgeirr walked up behind him. "Thork need light to check, orb maybe here."

After finding a light source, and lighting it, Thork would proceed into the room.

Ambra moves into the next room with Thork and looks around for anything suspicious.

As Thork lights a sunrod and enters the room, he would find nothing particularly revealing about it. There were definitely no occupants (Ambra notes this as well). Just large, flat slabs of stone surrounded by smaller flat slabs of stone.

However, something was noticed now with proper lighting: There seems to be bits of what seems to be food on the larger slabs. Bits of meat, bits of forage, some rations... they do look like they've been partially eaten, but abandoned.

There is nothing of note in this room besides that, nor does there appear to be any exits beyond the door Thork entered through.

Aelgeirr would carefully move up behind Thork. He would glance at the scene and give an "oh" expression. You then would see his face mentally run through numbers and trying to count things out for himself.

OOC:
Insight +1 ><
Purpose: How many gobbos ate here recently and how recently did they stop eating?

@ Aelgeirr:

It's hard to gauge... you'd say somewhere between half a dozen and a dozen of them? While Insight could be used for that information, how long ago would fall more into the realm of Perception, since that's more of a 'tracking' thing.

The little priestess didn't have much to say on the matter. But she did have plenty of tracking skills to figure out the questions left unanswered.

Perception 27 to figure out how recently it was abandoned, and where they might have gone.

"I think there may have been as many as a dozen goblins here. If they were all combatants, we'll have nine more to fight. I hope that isn't the case..."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 18, 2016 9:58 pm
@ Mercy:

That's a pretty impressive tracking roll! With your perception check, you can piece together that the goblins here were in the middle of eating, and seemed to get up and leave. It doesn't look like they did so in a panic or anything (nothing is 'knocked over', there was no spit-up food, et cetra). The best you can piece together, short of divination magic, was that this was a mess hall and something happened that was more important than lunch that they abandoned their food, perhaps with the intention of returning to it later?

Oh, and it was definitely hours ago, rather than, say, days.

It's hard to pin down how many precisely, since it seemed to be a place they used frequently, but that might be telling of a completely different story.

"Come on. Let's not leave these goblins waiting. If you're intending to eat their ....lunches, you can do that later, ork." Aelgeirr would gesture towards Mercy and the other door. "May not be trapped, but best not to take chances....unless someone has another idea?"

Ambra moves up and examines the door into the next room. "After what happened at entrance I'm a little nervous about moving around down here now. You think it is safe to open this door?"

"Not absolutely, but if this is their mess hall then why would they trap a door that they all have to go through? Imagine what would happen if you booby trapped a door right next to your dining room? Still, nothing to chance." Aelgeirr would ready his spear as Ambra does her investigations.
