 "Every night, she's all I see...." Sixteen months is a very long time...
Gage sat on his bed, writing one of his daily e-mails to Stella. His roommate never failed to mock him for staying faithful to a girl back home... The man was taken himself, but was sleeping with one of the female soldiers in camp... Gage had no such intentions... Stella was the only person he thought about when he wasn't working... And while some of the females tried desperately to reach him, they couldn't.... Sending the brief message to Stella, he closed the laptop and leaned back against the wall behind his bed. Only two months to go... Then he'd be able to see her, touch her, feel her skin against his, her lips on his..
He was ready to go home, ready to be with her for awhile, and not to have to worry about being deployed for another three years at least.... As he leaned back on his bed, he took a deep breath and looked at the picture of her on his trunk, smiling softly... It was a candid he'd taken one night.... And it was his favorite of her, sitting indian style on their bed, "Gage Jr." in her arms, just her smiling face visible over the bears head. "Her image burned into my eyes.... My life in her heart, heart heart in my hands...."

Since there was a small time difference Stella was still working on homework and dinner. It was a few hours until she was able to check her email. Sitting indian style on their bed, Gage Jr. next to her and her laptop on her lap. She munched on a few slices of cucumber checking her email. A smile pulled on her lips as she saw her almost daily email from Gage. Quickly reading it over and replying, adding in a thank you.. The thank you could be taken as however he wanted it. But she was intending it be a thank you for staying faithful.. At least to her knowledge. It was almost 10 pm, meaning he would be getting up soon. She smiled and sent the email before crawling into bed, snuggling with Gage Jr for a bit. Two more months...

"Every night, she's all I see...." Gage looked up at the apartment complex, his hands full with his bags. He seemed different, his posture straighter, his eyes were far more serious.... Taking a shaky breath, he jogged lightly up the stairs and slipped into the apartment, setting his things by the door and moving silently to the bedroom where he assumed Stella was... "Her image burned into my eyes.... My life in her heart, heart heart in my hands...."

Stella laid on her stomach looking down at her fingernails. Her legs were up and she was kicking them slowly, completely lost in thought. Gage would be coming home any day now and she couldn't wait. So much yet so little had changed in the past eighteen months that she wasn't even sure if she would recognize him.

"Every night, she's all I see...." Gage's eyes looked over Stella as she laid with her back to him. After a long moment, he cleared his throat, sure he'd startle her, but still... He wasn't sure how to approach her, so he stood in the doorframe, his hat in his hands as he looked over at her. "Her image burned into my eyes.... My life in her heart, heart heart in my hands...."

Stella jumped, startled that someone was in the room with her. Her heart pounded in her chest, afraid of who she would see when she rolled over. Climbing out of bed she turned to see Gage and squealed, run/walking over to him and hugging him tightly. Tears streamed down her cheeks a bit. "You scared me you jerk!"

"Every night, she's all I see...." Gage gave a soft laugh as she hugged him, and wrapped his arms around her, burying his nose in her neck and inhaling deeply as he hugged her close. "I'm sorry for scaring you... I wasn't sure how to approach you, in even the slightest amount...." he sighed softly as he pulled back slightly so he could see her. Was her hair longer, or was that his imagination... She seemed different too.... But she was real, and he was finally home, after so long of the dreams of being home not coming true.... She was finally in his arms again.... "Her image burned into my eyes.... My life in her heart, heart heart in my hands...."

Stella looked up at him, her eyes scanner over his features. He was cleaner cut and he stood up straighter, if that was possible. His eyes seemed more serious and there was obvious change in him. Stella was still the same person though... A year older.. Her hair a few inches longer and she was maybe a bit tanner. But nothing drastic. "What do you mean you didn't know how to approach me?" She frowned and wrinkled up her nose. He didn't know how to approach her? It's only been eighteen months...

I wasn't sure how you'd react to seeing me..." he pulled her close again and buried his face in her neck once more. "God I missed you..." he leaned back again, looking down at her. Stella inhaled slowly, smiling as his scent flooded her senses. Sure she had had his clothes and pillow but it wasn't the same. "No. Im still recovering from last time.." She chuckled and nuzzled his neck a bit. She had missed him more than anyone could realize. No one but an army girlfriend, boyfriend, fiance, husband or wife would understand how horrible it is to be away from the one you love for anything length of time. "I just wanna eat here and cuddle.." She smiled and kissed his neck.

"Every night, she's all I see...." Gage smiled as she kissed his neck, and swept her up into his arms, moving to sit on the bed, still cradling her. "So want to order something in?" he looked down at her, setting his hat on the nightstand as he turned to look back at her. "Chinese maybe?" "Her image burned into my eyes.... Stella leaned against him and smiled, glancing down on the gleaming ring on her finger. "Sounds perfect." She giggled and pushed Gage Jr. off the bed to give them more room. She had long since put his pillow back on the bed, after being laundered of course. "You don't have to leave me again do you?" She frowned and looked up at him with wide eyes.

"Oh no, they don't deploy me for another three years, and I plan on making this." he took her hand and kissed the ring on her finger. "Official long before then... Stella blushed when he kissed the ring. Secretly she had been going over things she would consider in a wedding and her friends and her had even gone looking at dresses. "Go with you? Like... With you with you?" She smiled and kissing his cheek softly. Hoping that they could plan their wedding soon, it was making your anxious.

You don't have to leave my side for more than a day ever again...." he laughed softly and stood with her in his arms, taking her out to the living room, he sat them on the couch and leaned back, still holding onto her. "Now, it better not have changed, there should be a menu in the end-table, so let's figure out what we're gonna order...." leaning over he opened up the table and pulled out the menu he'd spoken of. He grabbed his cell out of a pocket of his shirt and opened up the menu, looking it over "Her image burned into my eyes.... My life in her heart, heart heart in my hands...."
