Ok, since I received a lot of bad comments about my picture and my black lipstick, here are some others...

For the shades and effects I added, they make me look more photogenic... I swear! And they are fun to make, too!

You look much better with the red. smile

I recieved the Moi Meme Moitie skirt & blouse set yesterday, that I had been expecting~
The shirt, while fine for wearing around the house and for pictures, is a little too short to safely wear downtown for class, so it was left at home today. The skirt is also one of the shorter ones that Moitie has produced, I realized sweatdrop So with one of my other black blouses, and some tights instead of my Moitie socks (also helped because the wind was coooold), and my shorter bloomers, I wore the skirt from the set all the way downtown... to be told that my class was cancelled. Rather than return home immediately, my lovely Dulcinea and I took some pictures.

Cyrinn, how tall are you? Because that could also factor in to the skirt being short. I'm not sure if Moi mem moite has skirt lengths posted on their site (or cd japan, which is where I assume you go this from), but I know most places do, and maybe you shoudl check that skirt measurement against you next time?

I'm just shy of 5'6", with a waist to top-of-knee measurement of 21in. (And thus, not far off of most Lolita skirt lengths of 20in)
I've been following Lolita, and MmM in particular, for years upon years, and they do post their skirt lengths when they initially sell the product, and most of them are longer than this. So, I am assuming that this is one of the items that they have released as "short", as I fit into other Moitie and brand skirts without any problem in length. My problem is that I did not buy the skirt new-- I have a bit of a thing for buying older and more rare lines of clothing from brands that I favor. Since I bought it from someone else, the measurements given were not the official ones. smile

What's the problem with (a little) shorter skirts? Cryrin has beautiful legs, she can show them (a little)! 3nodding

It mostly makes me feel self conscious (I don't mind going as high as three inches above the knee, but this stands just a little too high)... and I don't want to always wear tights with the skirt.
My current plan is to make an underskirt with a ruffled bottom, and see if it will look OK, since the Moitie skirt is entirely out of Hardanger Embroidery.
If not, it may just join the growing pile of Moitie that I still adore, but isn't quite acceptable for proper Lolita. sweatdrop

You could also add a frilly layer... But not too frilly thought because it wouldn't fit with the rest... Or add other frilly layers everywhere but that would change the dress a lot...

Ah, I'm suprized MMM would produce something so short xp I guess you are on the taller side for most Japanese girls, though.

Okay, finally a picture of me.

It was still sunny this evening, so I threw on my new (actually old, but new to me) IW skirt, and a blouse. You can't see it so well in the photo, but the blouse is sheerer than I'd usually wear for lolita, so I'm going to try to use it as a pattern to make a less sheer blouse, since I really like the style. The skirt is velveteen, and incredibly heavy, so even though I had two crinis underneath, they did little. I think I'm going to need to buy netting for this skirt. Also, I don't plan on wearing it anywhere for serious until the fall, when it's cool enough outside to not die in a heavy skirt, and don't feel weird wearing such a long skirt around. This thing is so much longer than I was expecting, and I'm still trying to convince myself that the length looks fine.

I love the ring I'm wearing, though I didn't take a close picture of it. It's a rose, in ivory plastic. And, my shoes are not black, as you can see from the pic I took of them. I don't know why they keep looking black whenever pictures are taken of me.

oo, I like the skirt and the shirt. Maybe you could go for a more aristocratic look with the skirt since it is so heavy? That way you don't have to try and poof it up with a bunch of petticoats ^^

I don't want to alter the skirt directly, so I think that an underskirt will work well enough to give the appearance that there's a ruffle along the bottom of the skirt, and lengthen things at the same time.

It's not all that uncommon for them to produce a "short" version of a skirt, I've noticed, just as it isn't uncommon for them to produce skirts that are too long for Lolita (such as in the Iron Gate line), or produce them in a fabric that most deem unacceptable (an example being the MmM leather corset that's sitting in my closet-- And, thinking back, the skirt to the leather set was also sold as a short version).
I think that the variation and versatility is what makes it one of my favorite brands, Lolita or not (on top of the fact that most other brands are too big for me).

You also look lovely-- the red really seems to suit you. As for your skirt, I highly suggest something like Meta's Organdie Pannier. Though harder to find, Moitie's petticoats are also known to hold up well. For a cheaper option, I've heard good things about Candy Violet's Fluffy Petticoat doing well under heavy fabrics.

Thank you! I really love that colour of red, and probably will buy other IW items in that shade, as I have money. I'll take your suggestions on undergarmets, and look around to see what's available. If all else fails, I definitely know that a frankensteined wedding crinoline has enough stiffness to make the skirt behave.

I suppose that could work, but I'm not going to worry too much about the skirt until fall, though I wanted to just have a picture of it now, for fun. I wonder what I'd do with my hair. I just left it how it was when I woke up this morning, since I'm very lazy when it comes to hair. XD
