If he doesn't answer this time, the promise he made is null in void" he decided. He wondered if Alistar had any intention on teaching him how to swim in the first place. "People do take promises for granted" he thought as he dialed the phone number. Placed the receiver near his right ear then waited for someone to pick up on the other end. ╚══════════════╝

╔══════════════╗ Patrick huffs when he didn't get an answer from the other end. "Guess it will be up to him. Not going to try again" he thought. The answer machine will store any messages left by any callers. "Hiro! You're coming with me today" he announces for the kitten to hear. He grabs his gloves, not the fingerless ones, his jacket and has Hiro wearing his sweater then headed out with kitten to the forest they visited one time in the past.[exit] ╚══════════════╝

╔══════════════╗ Patrick did his usual morning routine, but did around sunrise to avoid crowds because of the holiday. "A holiday for couples. Don't need to be reminded about my recent break-up" he thought after returning to his house. Hiro was still asleep in the bedroom on his bed while his owner cooked himself breakfast. Patrick had a video chat scheduled today with his business who is also on this day. Thought about to the valuable time he had been spending with his kitten the past few days while he was eating his food. ╚══════════════╝

╔══════════════╗ Took Patrick some time to get chat video set up and he succeeded. "Hey, Kenzie. Finally got it working. Sorry for the wait" he apologizes when he sees his business partner's face. Kenzie was more than a business partner, he was as close he has to a best friend and family aside from Hiro. The kitten found his way to the top of the desk and smears his nose up against the computer screen. Both men chuckle, "Hiro says hi also" said Patrick smiling then he picked up Hiro and placed him on his lap. Gently petted the kitten's white, soft fur across his back as he resumes talking with Kenzie. ╚══════════════╝

╔══════════════╗ They talked about trivial and simple things like books and tv shows. Also about the people that thought so little of them or called them names when they were younger. They had similar history and experience when it comes to life. "Guess we both had friends that we created good memories with back in those times. Always that one person that causes you a lot of heartache" he commented based on their discussion. He nods as he continues to pet Hiro about that guy he was once roommates with. "Yes, the one I was warned about in my journal. Was never good at helping me in the past and certainly not in the present. Doubt I will ever encounter that drama guy again and won't regret it not happening. For someone he didn't like drama he was the lure for it" he said with a laugh and Kenzie joined in on the laughing. ╚══════════════╝

╔══════════════╗ They were freely using their accent at least Patrick was because he hasn't used it freely in a long time. He let Hiro move and jump off his onto the floor. "Hm?...doubt it. The guy was more interested in her because of her condition that I might as well had been a third wheel. Wouldn't surprise me if they are dating and that is why I've been left out all of this time" he answered a question about a couple of people from his past while staying in this town. "You know man, your my first adult friend and I'm sure I'm right about that based on past events and maybe my only one. A lot of people ended relations with me without me ever agreeing to it or choice at all. I'm not trying to sound pathetic, but is how things seemed to have turned out for me. At least I know I can count you and Hiro to be around for a very long time" he said and smiled at the end. A couple hours of spending time chatting with Kenzie, his stomach reminded him of how close it is with lunch time. ╚══════════════╝

╔══════════════╗ "Love ya man. Like a brother I would always wanted" Patrick said to Kenzie endearingly. He didn't feel the least bit embarrassed saying it because it was the truth for him. Seemed to have been well received when the other said it back to him with a joyous tone of voice. They took a break long enough to eat from their own meals and come back with stomachs satisfied. Resumed to their talk for the rest of day until they could no longer do so and said their heartfelt goodbyes and see you later before exiting out of the chatroom. ╚══════════════╝

╔══════════════╗ Patrick returned home around lunch time and fed Hiro then ate his own meal. Checked the answering machine in case he got a phone call while he was gone for most of the morning. There were no missed calls nor any voicemail. Did some searching on the internet for any local vet places. Once he found one he put Hiro into his pet carrier then head on out for a walk-in appointment. [exit] ╚══════════════╝

╔══════════════╗ Patrick returned home after spend most of his time outside of the house. Checked out the message he got on his answer machine. "Tomorrow is my first day of work. I better get some rest" he thought. He had no doubt he would pass the background check and Kenzie thought so too. Thinking of Kenzie, he emailed his brother from another mother the good news. "This job should be no problem at all, right Hiro?" he asked the precious kitten and meowed back to him. He went off to bed and slept to the morning. ╚══════════════╝
