[... How the hell did you get -0 on your dice roll?! O-o Gaia dice are scary] The string on your crossbow wasn't taut enough when you released it, so instead of launching bravely into the enemy, the bolt immediately falls to the ground with a sad little plink.

(I use my sapphire nightmare blade. If my concentration check outstrips the spiders AC my attack catches it flatfooted and deals an extra d6 damage. If my concentration check fails then my attack will be made at a -2 penalty.)
(First d20 is my concentration check at a plus 6)
(My second roll is my attack at a plus 4)
