::Gem let out a sniffle, and when Eula turned back, the bat couldn't look her in the eye, looking down instead:: Okay...
Jus'... I knew you'd be mad... I was tryin' to keep it secret...
Annen' I heard Faith sayin' an importan' decision...
An...annen everyone got angry... ::She sniffed again, not bothering to wipe her face from tears anymore, brow furrowing::
I didn't go to listen to you! ::She finally burst into a hiccough, as she finally burst out with her last confession:: He... he told me I hadda follow you... he told me I hadda protec' you! ::And she finally exploded into bawling tears::
::And it was that moment, when Sideswipe made his presence known, and did he ever, as he attempted to stop himself from his sudden run, goodness knows if he'd came from the other side of the abbey if he had, as an oak half-uprooted when he grabbed it to stop himself, and he took one look at the two, oblivious to whatever it may have been that they had discussed, but instead looking to Gem, and instantly moving forward, a sudden rush of conflict in his face, his arms were out to pick her up, but at the same time, he didn't want to hurt her further if that could happen just touching her...::
::He looked at her, hardly doing the same job of keeping calm as Donato had, half looking ready to cry himself, as he looked her over quickly:: Gem... are you alright...?
::Ask a stupid question... the bat's head shook side to side now quickly::
::The badger looked quickly from the little bat to Eula, hoping to hear what had happened here, as he still seemed achingly caught between wanting to pick Gem up, and the thought of how easy he could make things worse for the little one...::

: biggrin onato would have as much luck, with an empty infirmary without Jasmine or Faith... wherever that vixen had went off in a foul wind, it definitely wasn't there, the fire hadn't been tended to for a good while, and seemed about ready to go out in embers any second...::
::He'd have to try somewhere else, or find another beast for the job...::

Donato groaned in frustration, stamping a foot on the ground as he tried to think where else she might be. "Jasmine?" He called out. "...Shune? Anyone?" Shaking his head, he turned and headed back downstairs.

Eula listened to Gem's sniffling confessions with obvious little interest, as she was expecting the bat to say all that. Every few moments, she'd look back to see if Donato was returning with Jasmine.
It took Eula a few seconds to register what Gem had just told her before the bat burst into tears. She blinked a couple times, thoroughly confused. "Wait, Gem, who to-" but she was cut off as a big badger came lumbering onto the scene.
She looked up at him from her seated position, nodding a little. "She'll be all right. She fell when she was trying to get my attention," she told him in a calm voice. "Donato went to go find Jasmine." To Eula's credit, she even managed to say the vixen's name without a darkened tone or making a face.
She was silent for a few moments, considering the consequences of continuing the conversation with Sideswipe standing right there. However, her curiosity was overwhelming, and she returned her attention to the bat. "Gem, who told you that you have to protect me?"

::Well... he might not have had any luck in the infirmary, but just as soon as he turned those stairs, he nearly ran smack bang into Jasmine!!!!::
::The vixens' face was like a singed blade, an indiscriminate hatred, hidden just below the veil of her face, but you knew it was there, it was in the look, it was in her repressed fangs, in the motion she hid something beneath her robes, she closed her eyes, opened them again and let out a tired sigh::
You should be careful on these stairs... I don't want to have to drag you up them with a broken leg or anything all by myself...

::Sideswipe could have caught himself in confusion, he was about to ask what in the dark forest Eula was asking about, when concern overtook him... she was hurt, and that mattered enough more than anything else as he turned back to the bat::
::But she didn't answer, her paws were shaking, she was bawling tears, she seemed to be suddenly shaking all over now as all she could manage to come up with an answer for came out...:: ....hurts...
It hurts! ::She erupted, burying her face into the nearest beast, being Eula, absolutely burrowing her face against the hare, and her paws, her claws seemed nearly digging in, no doubt about it... either she was in immense pain, and gave little miracle to how long she'd lasted without bursting out like this, or she was milking it now that she'd just let out ANOTHER secret, and was soon going to be in a lot of trouble...::
::Sideswipe decided for them::
I'm taking her upstairs.
Right now. ::He said decisively, reaching out to take the bat::

Eula groaned, annoyed now that Gem decided to be overcome in tears just before she told something important. How did anyone STAND children? She reached over and tried to unlatch Gem’s paws from her to keep that bat’s claws from digging into her. “Okay... Gem... calm down, you’re fine.”
“Gem, stop,” Eula repeated with an intense note of impatience.
She looked up at Sideswipe again, lifting an eyebrow. She shrugged a little. “Fine, take her. But I won’t be responsible if she gets hurt even more from being moved.”

::Sideswipe faltered, and slowly, his arms fell little by little, as he looked to the bat, absolutely helpless... one of the strongest beasts alive... and he couldn't even comfort a child so dear to him...::
::It broke his heart, and he watched, as Gem tried to respond to Eula's words, her paws shaking beyond belief now as she tried to pull them back, she was able to respond, but just barely... and the badger just looked on as helpless at the now inconsolable bat, and then back to Eula finally...::
Would you be able to move her?

Donato noticed Jasmine's expression with impatience, and didn't miss her quick gesture. He'd ask about it later. "Not right now, Jasmine. You might be bringing someone else up the stairs with a broken leg." He gave her an annoyed look, but lost no time in continuing. "Gem fell out of a tree and hurt her leg; I'm not sure if it's broken or not, Eula's looking after her."

::There was a really, REALLY horrible look on her face now, as she near enough covered her face, muttering beneath her breath small curses upon the questionable heritage of the bat's parents, before looking back up again:: Alright... take me to her...

::No sooner than Jasmine appeared however, it seemed the badger would have gladly THROWN her over to Gem if it would have made her go any faster, she still clutched at something beneath her robes, and despite all of Sideswipe's remarks of how hurt Gem was, she wouldn't go any faster, until she finally got there, and bent down, without a word given to anyone::
Alright, Gem. ::No response, still crying:: Gem, I need you to be very brave, I'm going to have to check your leg...
::Jasmine pulled back the entangled silks, and then no sooner, quickly pulled them back before anybeast else could see, she didn't even have to touch it before suddenly announcing, in a very sobered voice:: Broken.
::She let out a sigh, all the while Gem wouldn't stop crying, and finally the vixen spoke again:: Has anyone told Whisper, or will they on what's happened here?

Eula, for how much she was loathing the vixen right now, seemed relieved enough when she finally arrived. She reached down and took Gem's wrists, getting her to let go completely. "All right, go on with Jasmine, we'll have a little chat later," Eula said in a polite enough voice, yet with a tone that Gem would notice as a warning to be ready to spill her information.
Eula was about to elect Sideswipe to go tell Whisper, but that only brought forth the memory of she and the badger's interesting history. She quickly put aside that option. "We'll tell her," she offered with a sigh. She glanced over at Donato to get his approval, since she had just volunteered him as well. She gave just a tiny nod, barely noticeable nod to him, a signal to say she had something to tell him.
When the bat had been pried from her, she scooted slowly back, then stood up, waiting to see that Gem would be taken off to the infirmary safely.

::To any of Gem's credits, as much as her wrists shook, she'd JUST managed to remove them from Eula, holding herself tight there, but Eula's warning didn't seem to register in among all her crying::
I'll need you both. ::Jasmine said, rather matter of factly to the hares::
And Sideswipe should go find Whisper. ::The badger looked up, stricken looking at the suggestion he should leave Gem in any state like this, he seemed ready to protest when Jasmine spoke again:: You'll only get in the way. ::But behind it... something else... and she turned back to the hares::
I don't have time for any retorts, arguments or protests, I'm about to need you both, and by process of elimination that it will take too long to get anybeast else from the abbey, Gem needs you. ::It was notable that THIS time she didn't say that she needed them, and the bat instead, whether a guilt trip or an insult, it was true, Gem was hurt, and if Jasmine was right - in a decisively quick assessment - she was obviously in a lot of pain, and she DID need help...::
::Suddenly the vixen lifted the bat up, almost roughly, as the bat suddenly wailed louder, her leg sagging down as the vixen adjusted herself accordingly, despite a frozen Sideswipe's horrified look upon her, as the vixen began marching back towards the abbey, not even waiting for Eula or Donato to decide!!!::

Eula stood there for a few moments, staring off at Jasmine in disbelief. That fox had such NERVE. If Jasmine had so much as politely asked them to attend, Eula probably would've said yes - Gem was hurt after all. But no, the fox had to DEMAND her presence, and yet again throw aside even an inkling of respect. Eula was beyond sick of it and was about ready for Jasmine to hop off her little pedestal and take a harsh reality check, because the world did not revolve around her. If Jasmine said jump, the world would not jump for her.
Paws clenched at her side, she waited for Donato, and then turned to leave. There were so many things she wanted to say right now -most not suitable for young ears- but she kept her mouth tightly shut. She walked along in a very tense silence, a warning mostly to Donato to not convince her to speak, because if she did, she'd say some very nasty things.

::...To say it was a long walk up those stairs was an understatement, even as fast as Jasmine would pace herself up those stairs with an injured dibbun and another mysterious load, the bat's crying only continued in ways it made you wonder if it could ever cease, to a point where it stopped being HER tears, and you eventually defined her as It::
::After an eternity, made no easier by Jasmine's silence, they were in, and Jasmine lay the bat down on the table, moving about quickly, that mysterious load suddenly dumped off behind a shelf elsewhere, as she began assembling various items, tossing a log into the errant sparks left of the fire and then back to the table, where among her items at least, was a knife...::
Somebeast close all the windows... if Sideswipe even hears a whimper more than he's already heard, he'll surely run here and tear that door open with his bare claws...
::And without a shred of any sympathy in her voice, as she roughly tore away through Gem's robes, removing any she could while still leaving her decent, untils he tore a long line open to reveal the leg in question, and what Jasmine had seen was now quite undeniable::
::There was a break, or rather, a new angle in the leg, just before the knee, the thigh grotesquely bent out of shape, and just visible ABOVE that, on the other side of the limb, a visible lump::
We need to be quick about this. ::Jasmine said, urgently,a paw on Gem's forehead::
If you two... can get behind her... ::She draped a damp cloth over Gem's injured leg, the bat letting out a shrill, small cry, but then suddenly slowing, beginning to breath a little easier, with whatever Jasmine had done, it done the trick::
Gem... can you listen to me? ::Slowly, the bat looked up at Jasmine, nodding, as her chest seemed to rise and fast so quickly...:: I have a magic apple here... ::She held up what seemed to be an unremarkable red apple, as she helped the bat into a sitting position ever so slowly... peering over her to Eula and Donato... nodding at them to come closer...::
It'll help you feel better... okay... just take a big bite...
::Slowly, slowly... Gem took the apple and as instructed, sniffling as she was, opened her mouth wide, shut her eyes, and took a deep, trusting bite::
::And at the same instance, Jasmine's paw WRENCHED the bat's leg!!! The bat's eyes went wide, but the apple saved her, it was a gag!!!!::
::Jasmine's paw was merciless down upon the limb, and she called at the hares before Gem could even think properly:: Grab hold of her wings and arms!!!
::So THAT was why she needed them...::
::Finally the apple came out, and the wailing began a new, even more painful call, and it was little doubt if they HADN'T closed the windows, Sideswipe would have been on them in minutes, which was where they needed to get Gem!!!::
::...This was going to be a LONG treatment...::

::But eventually it was over... and the bat finally lay in one of the cots, changed into a simple evening gown, asleep now, as sweet, warm herbs soothingly aired through the room, and taking over the chaos of what had been Gem's ear piercing shrieks, after all they'd been through there... little doubt why...::
Broken fibia... pinched nerve vessel or two... ::Jasmine sighed, wiping her now bloodied paws on a wet rag as she rigorously worked them clean::
::She tossed a wet rag back to them too, Gem had more than made them work, her thrashing wings and paws weren't very strong, but when they got going, the bruises easily wracked up... but now, there she was in the bed, peaceful at least, red blushes on her cheeks all that were left of her streams of tears as Jasmine finally placed a wet rag on Gem's forehead too, eyeing the leg that had been the trouble of this whole matter, now in one of those now often seen casts, drying atop a set of pillows, and finally, her wings... now bound up in bandages each to stop her getting any bright ideas about flying off soon...::
You did a good job... ::Jasmine sighed, weary more than anything as she began to slink off to the top of the infirmary, picking up her mysterious item from behind the shelves with an audible clink of a beaker too::

Eula had noticed Jasmine's secret little item when the fox went to hide it behind the counter. She hadn't noticed it earlier. She lifted an eyebrow and shifted a glance to Jasmine, a look that clearly showed that she knew Jasmine was hiding something, but the vixen probably wasn't paying any attention.
Eula did everything as instructed in absolute silence, not letting a single word betray her current thoughts. She was here to make sure Gem was okay, NOT to help Jasmine... and what she would give to be able to say that without sounding like a complete prat.
Eula held her paws out before her, frowning in disgust. Oh right, this is why she never became a healer! Catching the damp cloth, she rubbed her paws vigorously to wash herself from the mess and from the very idea of blood on her paws.
When Jasmine stood to leave, Eula opened her mouth to say something. There was so many things she wanted to say. Tell Jasmine how utterly rude she'd been - tell her she didn't have any right to talk to Eula the way she had..... ask what on earth she was trying to desperately to hide from them. Any one of these things was so close to passing her lips, but she bit it off, remaining silent.
Shaking her head in frustration, she didn't even have the energy to tell Jasmine off. Besides, this wasn't the right place. She realized as much. Making sure her paws were cleaned off decently, she turned to Donato. "I'll be downstairs," she said flatly, turning to leave.

Donato listened to Jasmine's orders and clenched his jaw. Her bald rudeness was really getting to him. At this point, it didn't seem any better to follow Jasmine than to find Whisper. "The barking isn't necessary, Jasmine. We're coming." He said quietly, stepping forward to help lift the bat and stopping short when he saw the vixen scoop her up. He nearly objected - why had they bothered with not moving her at all? - but held his silence. She was the healer. Walking along after Jasmine, Donato let Eula remain silent. He felt that he completely understood.
In the infirmary, Donato closed the windows quickly and without a word. He tried to catch a glimpse of whatever it was Jasmine was hiding, but couldn't manage it. Inwardly cursing the healer's secrecy, he turned to the bedside to get this over with.
His initial attempts to mutter vaguely calming things along the lines of "It's okay, you're going to be fine" were quickly abandoned after a few solid blows from the bat's hands and wings. He was going to be sore in the morning, that was for sure. The hare didn't even listen to Jasmine's assessment of the bat's injuries when they were done. They were done. He didn't care. Taking the rag from Eula, he nodded vaguely as she left. "Okay." Cleaning himself off, he glanced over at Jasmine. Was now a good time to ask what she was about? Probably not. Was ever a good time? Right.
"Jasmine?"
