CJHeth I like your dress 3nodding Is it like a short sleeve (I can't tell with the bolero)? I always saw top hats of that size as worn with pants xp It's like a mixing of feminity and masculinity

namida_no_chi coffee` I really don't think that red dress says lolita at all. I agree. The skirt should be shorter, and I can't really tell if it's worn with a petticoat or not. Just for future reference Kimiko, tell Erika that in Loli, open toed shoes and no socks are a "no-no". ^^ Trust I've tried bashing into her brain the basics of Loli and have even sent her the links on the basics of how to be a Lolita but she's not listening stressed . I'm going to have to stab her something.

I always saw top hats of that size as worn with pants xp It's like a mixing of feminity and masculinity Thank you. ^_^ It's a Camisole-esqe top, with double straps to make it slightly more on the "loli" side of things. The bolero works wonders at hiding that (though I guess without it it might be kinda ero, neh?). Big hat because my hair is horrible. XP Kansas is always windy and I have bad hair, so the two together work well in ensuring my hair always looks like crap. I've gotten into the habit of wearing full size hats to avoid bad hair, and avoid losing mini hats. I'm going to girly it up a bit more when I have the money, but at the moment I am saving everything I have (which is like, very little XD) for a trip to Colorado to meet some of the lolis on LJC-EGL with another Kansas Loli. ^_^

It doesn't even have to be a "loli" blouse, but just like a reagular button up dress shirt (I personally don't think elaborate blouses worn underneath things make much sense). Do you normally wear all black Loli? (I forget what they're called)

namida_no_chi Kanami-san, your dress is adorable (although jumpers like that are typically worn with a blouse underneath ^^). Did you make it or buy it, if you don't mind my asking? I made it with some help from a friend of mine studying fashion in college! She's my absolute favorite person in the world! ...next to Die and Gactk that is...x3

Otherwise, I just dress like me, and if that's loli, great, if not, oh well. XD And yeah I agree about fancy blouses. If you can't see the details, no point in wearing it. Usually. Almost all of my loli clothes are black, save one camo printed skirt, and a few tops. This is actually because I ruin all my clothes that are light coloured, and don't want to risk ruining such expensive stuff. XD

Actually that's not a bad idea ninja

I guess that's just cuz it's easier to find shoes/stockings/etc to match them. I'm trying to mix it up a bit with the blue dress I'm making now, though xp (I was going to do green, but I realize wearing green makes me look yellow and sick)

If I ever decided to risk lighter clothes for a sweeter look, i'd definately go for blue. 3nodding I have a nice shirt i got at Wal Mart (GASP) that is white with dark blue and light blue lines. I want to get a dark blue skirt to go with it for a casual look.

i disagree on the closed toe and the sock rule.
It all depends on the shoe and the outfit. Ive seen some lovely open toed shoes at BTSSB and often i dont wear socks with my shoes in the summer.
But as a general rule, i guess its true. But its not written in stone.

Ive seen some lovely open toed shoes at BTSSB and often i dont wear socks with my shoes in the summer. But as a general rule, i guess its true. But its not written in stone. I agree with you, but think that open toe shoes go best with princess type outfits, (almost a hime gyaru lolita) and occasionally very very opulent classic outfits. Also, some people say that fishnets never go with lolita, but I've seen whte fishnets used with classic outfits in bible spreads. It's really about the spirit in which you wear things, and yes there are quite a few guidelines, but if it's looking good, and high quality, and not getting away from the spirit of Lolita, I don't think it hurts the fashion at all, but rather strengthens it, by adding more variety. As far as socks go, it depends on the climate. Sometimes socks are just not practical, but if they are, then they should be worn. With open-toed shoes, nylons or stockings, or tasteful, highquality fishnets could be worn. (white, pink, or nude would probably be the best colours.)
