Ric_PT I don't know what the scarf and lunar pin are doing there (the cats are pets, I assume), but otherwise it's very nice. The blushing seems so unnatural that it just makes it amusing. xD I don't care about matchy matchy, and the scarf was a complete pain in the nether regions to save up for. If you want a more roleplaying reason, I would say that my avatar is a dumb vampire who thinks that just covering his mouth is enough of a disguise. Congrats on possibly being the first person to figure out that I have the unnatural blushing purely for shits and giggles [or lulz]. I would have given you a gift, but you have no wish list.

Although really I have too many things I want to use [scarf, kitties] that I am not going to have any chance of making a perfectly matching avatar if I use them.

Matchy matchy is a very good thing on Gaia, but not irl. I've tried over-matching what I'm wearing irl like I would on Gaia, and I got laughed at. Apparently, you are not supposed to wear socks with capris and sandels even if the colors do match. rofl

Minus the OMG, my avatar really isn't far off from how I dress in RL. Most of my pants have pinstrips, I always wear scarves when it is cold [below 60F], and have two cats nearby if I'm on the computer.

I agree that there's such a thing as being too "matchy matchy." My favorite avys are those that do for the most part match but then has something that pops out that's different and striking. It's best to keep it simple and not too busy. Cosplays of course have their own rules - and sometimes people like to just use favorite items and don't care about if they go together. Nothing wrong with making an avy just to make yourself happy.

I agree 100%, Camwen! 3nodding I still occasionally use my glamour-girl newbie dresses (the ones with the white boas attached at the neckline; you can get them for 5 gold apiece at H&R Wesley) just because I think they're pretty, and I'm not going to stop wearing pretty things just because they happen to be cheap. (Heck, a lot of my real-life clothes are cheap too, but as long as you like what you're wearing, it shouldn't matter where you got it.) Of course, when I put cheap dresses on my avatar, I usually try to pair them with The Lusty Scoundrel or something else expensive so I won't be treated like a n00b. But...yeah. Wear whatever YOU like, and to heck with what people in the forums think. Avatar ratings are subjective anyway. What one person sees as their best work is what someone else sees as a big, ghastly mess. So just do what YOU want, whether it's cheap stuff or expensive things or a mix of the two. Maybe it's just me, but I personally think that inexpensive things can make a nice, put-together avi just as well as the stuff that costs a lot. It may not have the neat effects that some of the more costly stuff has, but everybody has to start somewhere, and you don't have to pay a lot to look good, in real life or on Gaia.

I've seen some really great, really cheap avi's. As long as they are balanced, well coordinated, and have matching colors, even the poorest Gaians can look classy and non-noobish.

This. I've only been on Gaia for about a year, so my avatars for the longest time had only what I could afford and what I got as gifts. (In fact, my favorite item, The Lusty Scoundrel, was a Christmas gift from Chibi.) The first somewhat expensive item that I bought for myself was Scarlet Sprite, which I got in March. Then I bought Coocoon and Gothic Butterfly. But...yeah. Expensive =/= awesome. (Although the costly things are definitely nicer to have.) Creativity with what you have=awesome.

I love your lusty avi. You should really go ahead and send Arturo Robusto that PM before it's too late. I think the event will begin for real tomorrow.

I love your cat masquerade outfit. I think the cats are adorable touches to such a cute dress. The spirit essence around you makes it perfect for Halloween.

I've been admiring your avy for a bit Chibi. Just right for a fancy Halloween Ball.
and Underworld Priestess - your current avy matches your username perfectly
edit: @Chibi - nice use of the spectral shroud (from the event) It's actually a nice item. Especially for a first round prize.

I love your avatar's hat. I used to obsess over all of the different two-pronged jesterish hats on this site.
