((Serena))

Like a man possessed Kojiro began to lose control over his powers as he was thrown into emotional torment. Serena had told him before how his powers seemed to rely on his emotions and will power and right now it seemed she had been correct. All around then ice began to erupt from the ground and pierce through anything within its way. The albino woman eyed the younger male wearily and even took a small step back. From behind Kojiro, two terrifying beasts of ice began to take form. This wasn’t good for the Vanishing Owl at all.

There was no way that she could win while being unarmed. Her current condition would also prove to be a great hindrance. She wasn’t able to run or evade attacks as quickly as she had before. Her silver eyes narrowed and her teeth clenched together so tightly she thought they may crack. “It’s not fair, I agree with you…But this is how life is, kid. Jeeze, this isn’t a joke you idiot! Are you too blind to see what is in front of you?!” Luckily for Serena, chains of ice had erupted forth and chained the golem and dragon into place. At least for now she needn’t worry about them.

“Don’t you dare say that I would never come back! I told you that I would be there for you whenever you needed me! I promised you Kojiro Izayoi that I would return! Never take my promises lightly!” Serena’s hands balled together so tightly that her knuckles had turned as white as the snow. She placed one foot in front of the other until she was in a stable stance. A smirk played on her features as she tilted her head to the left slightly. “Oh? You will wipe me of the face of the world? Gee kid, I can’t help but think you would be doing me a favour. At least in death I may be comforted by the fact that I would never have to worry about idiotic people dying on me!”

She laughed bitterly when Kojiro went on to declare that he followed Timothy’s and Soliel’s orders and that he will continue to fight to the death in order to see Raven’s screwed up ideals brought to life. “Well that sucks…for I plan on getting in your way again and again till you can see clearly that what you fight for is wrong…And the fact that you follow those idiots orders…makes my blood boil…I thought you was better than this…I thought you actually had spirit…”

Perhaps Serena had over stepped the line by turning up before Kojiro today. Without much time to register what was happening, Serena watched as Kojiro formed two frozen knives and made a lunge at the Vanishing Owl. Ice burst from the ground each time his foot came into contact with the ground and Serena was sure that it would skewer her if she didn’t watch her step closely. When Kojiro was too close for comfort, Serena’s power kicked in and she vanished from view. While Kojiro may not be able to see her, Serena still needed to evade his attack. Serena was far too big with twins to perform a backwards flip so her only hope was duck and dive to the left.

Unfortunately for her a spear of ice was protruding from the ground and while it acted like a door stop and stopped her from rolling too much, it wasn’t a very comfortable cushion for her back. “….Annoying..” The white haired woman was back on her feet in next to no time. She laid a hand on her stomach which she rubbed for a brief moment while murmuring a few reassuring words to the lives within. “If I was a spy or a fake, how can I still vanish you idiot! Oh right…I bet you will say that my power is obviously a synthetic copy!” She hissed the words out while lunging at Kojiro from behind, as she closed in on the Frozen Owl she brought her fist back and aimed a firm punch towards the boys back…Payback for the pain she had felt when her own back had collided with the spear of ice.

The snow around the whipped viciously as his powers begged to be let unleashed, Kojiro kept his target in sight before she vanished. Kojiro struggled to gain and keep his composure, soft words of the past came ringing in his ears.

“I am only trying to do some good in the world. If I can help one person in this life…I will be happy.”

Kojiro could not bear it.The dragon grew and let out an ear splitting roar, destorying the chains restraining it, several more came up and spiraled around it, tightening down and bringing the serpent back to the ground. The Golem was tearing away at the Chains as well, as many were torn, even more shot up to restrain it. Kojiro snarled as she vanished, "PERFECT NIGHTMARE!" he growled, with such uncontrollable confusion and his powers seeking every opportunity to vent. Instead of the usual build up and eloquent attack, Knives instead were beginning to fire around in random directions, some changing direction and shooting in any direction some sinking into the ground or any other surface around them including Kojiro, lightly sinking into him and shattering moments after impact. However at the same moment, other knives would slowly appear and slam into the initial attacking ones, almost countering them. Kojiro took another step forward as more ice shot upward, one of them skewering his own arm. Kojiro simply swallowed any instinct and shattered the lance halfway, freeing his arm and continuing on his mission. His powers could not cope with what was happening, and were acting as erratic as his own doubtful mind was, in turn, lashing at everything and anything, even if it tore Kojiro himself apart in the process.

“Oh Kojiro….I never thought you would be so easy to fool…You seemed nearly as cold as the ice you manipulated when we first met….”

Kojiro shouted in pain as the memories he tried desperately yo bury in the past were once again showing themselves. Weapons of all sorts began landing around him, it was a sloppy and erratic rendition of his attack on Daryle, only weapons would tumble and break, some would appear crooked and ill formed. Kojiro gripped a broken sword and swung downward into the snow,"...Death....Its not important....just another point in people's live....It has no true meaning....Legacy means nothing!...PEOPLE DIE! PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS DIE!....IT DOESN'T MATTER TO ANYONE ANYMORE!...k-k-kIlling the innocent! THE EVIL!....ITS ALL STILL KILLING!" Kojiro stumbled forward as he took a punch to the back of the head he snarled as he swung violently at the air, trying to strike the invisible spy, Kojiro looked down towards the snow on the ground, seeing her prints appear on the snow, his attacks slowly became more precise. "If you die....the world will still keep turning...If I die....THEN....YOU CAN JUST WATCH THE WORLD BURN IN MY PLACE!" he was slowly tipping into the realm of insanity, his words broken and sparratic, it seemed as though he had let go of what composure he was maintaining, Kojiro had finnaly let his guard down....and every reflection he was looking at earlier was desperately clamoring to replace his broken spirit. Even amidst this...It continued....the gut wrenching memories that had been haunting him, barraging him relentlessly.

"“I did this for him…I done this to help him..."

The Leviathan Let out another vicious roar, breaking away and lashing out near a building, only to be taken down again. The Golem was now crawling forward with all of its strength. Forcing its way out of the chains. Kojiro had a deathgrip on his broken blade as he placed his hand on his head again,"....No more....I don't want any of this anymore...I forgave Serena for her actions...with her parting words she left....I...I...didn't..." Kojiro began laughing again, almost hysterically,"....Its....simple....THAT SIMPLE...I need to be alone...I was too weak!....That had to be it....I was not strong enough for whatever plan they had for me!...I was a dull sword....I COULD NOT BE USED....RAVEN COULDN'T USE ME! THAT BLOND FOOL COULDN'T! I AM USELESS! I COULD NOT EVEN SAVE THE ONE I LOVED LIKE A BROTHER! THE ONLY PERSON THAT CHOSE NOT TO KILL" He said almost breaking into even more chaotic laughter,"....A dull sword that can be swung around and broken and tossed aside....TO THE SANDS OF TIME! WHERE I CAN IDLY WAIT AND WATCH HUMANS AND OWLS TEAR THEMSELVES APART IN THE NEXT ARMS RACE!!! I CAN SEE EVEN MORE OF MY LOVED ONES STOLEN FROM ME!!! I CAN WATCH THEM ALL DIE!!!!" he shouted, A claymore narrowly missed his head, but it did not faze him, the weight of everything he had gone through the pain he had endured and the pressure of being a Herald all had set on him at once. He finally had hit his breaking point. The patch over his eye began to singe lightly, Kojiro grabbed at it in a desperate effort to tend to the pain, even so, laughing at the pain being inflicted on himself and the chaotic burst of winter. Knives and weapons ricocheting chaotically. Amidst all of this, it almost looked as though some of the ice was countering its own attacks.

Soliel's demeanor altered clearly as the moments transpired and the tensions rose. There was no doubting that the two other men standing here before him conducting this trade were far out of his league. Timothy, the Lightning Herald, especially. Though he wouldn't admit it to the vertically challenged man, he acknowledged his strength and wouldn't dare stand to him. Che, on the other hand, would probably be more of a fair candidate to fight against. This, of course, was if he wasn't equipped with the deck clenched in his hand. A small sigh escaped him as the weight of the situation bared down on him more and more. He was not Raven. He could not stand here and not break a sweat in the presence of two of the oldest, strongest Owls to ever live. For this and other reason, he kept quiet and reserved while watching this trade unfold before him. That is, until now.

"Timothy." Soliel began with a slight turn of his head. This was to keep the Owl he understood to be rather tricky and slippery in his sight. "Is there a reason as to why you haven't just went to claim Victoria yourself? Surely this man's team as lost most, if not, all morale to fight against us anymore. Would this not be a perfect time to strike?" The blonde man of molten power was well versed in the art of aggressive war. From his companion's brief, quaint reaction, he knew that the white haired male had an answer that from his perspective or with his process of thought he could not see.

"Good question...surprising actually that you would ask. It also leaves me curious as to whether or not you've paid attention to this man at all. Not now of course, but before in our many fights and on our many missions." The all too wise Herald understood the elder Presidiomni's mannerisms and choices, but until today, he couldn't utilize them to place him in a position where all outcomes would lead to his ultimate defeat. If Tim weren't such a reserved man, he'd probably have begun to dance in the snow already. "When you look at this man, I doubt you see what I see. What you see as strength Soliel, I see as vulnerability. What you see as cunning, I see as cowardly intelligence. What you see as tactical ingenuity, I see as the thorough and subtle manipulation of others." The bleached pink corners of the herald leader's lips were pulled back replacing his otherwise blank face with a determined scowl. "Sure this man, Cheani can act the part and has, if I may say, impressively acted the part almost to a fault, but can he truly bring the character he wants us see to life? What you see is Che the actor. What I see is Cheani the man." And no sooner than finishing off this assessment, Timothy relieved Soliel of Che's deck by taking it into his left hand.

~I'm not treading heavily Will...I'm well aware of just what's going on.~ Che Presidiomni lifted a hand to the tuft of black hair atop his worried little head. As Timothy noted, things weren't as they seemed. Will could see. Che could see this. Cerberus the big slobbering mutt could probably see this if he put enough thought into it. As prescribed by his deceased, card captured mentor, the Italian weighed his options thoroughly. Within the realms of the Card World Will was in, he would be able to see all of the possibilities that ran through his student's frazzled psyche. ~I wish I knew where Gaeta was myself...but alas, tis just you and I here. I think at this point it's a little more than obvious that this war wont' end with this trade. It'll...it'll only get worse. *sigh* For what reason did you have to go and die Will? I needed you for this...~

~I needed you alive to help me.~

"I'd like to think I'm a good actor. I managed to get A's and B's in Theater Arts way back when thank you very much." Che replied to Timothy, the man who's pompous and smug tone was starting to grate his nerves. The Herald was older than him sure, but Che was certain that he could not outwit him. Their numerous past games of Chess suggested so. Still, this the little man spoke with such confidence that it even began to bother the usually nonchalant Italian. Then again, perhaps Tim did know how this would play out. It would account for the carefulness in Will's now ethereal, but still contemplative voice. "I'm a better actor than you think Tim. If I were cast in a play, I'd at least be able to play something other than a shrub or a rock. And you Soliel...you're as dumb as one. Or either. Why're you even here? Child, you're not even a frac-"

"If there is a quality I'm thankful your children did not attain, it has to be your mouth." The red eyed blonde managed to keep his cool in the face of both Cerberus, Che and his slew of insults. Thanks to Timothy, it was slightly clearer just how the Italian operated. Rather than skill, he operated by luck using others as pawns. Just means to an end. Still, his fists burned to punch Che in his face. Just a nice, clean sock in the jaw would do him good. "Those quips of yours...could you say them a little closer to my face?"

"No...no..." Che folded his arms across his chest, then turned his head to look across as Soliel with only a single eye. "I think I'll stay just out of your range. Don't you think you should ask your master if you can come at me first though?" The grin this man wore oh so tauntingly only made the blonde across from him want to attack him more. Che knew that and probably wouldn't have done it if that weren't the expected reaction. Timothy, on the other hand, remained seemingly indifferent. It was clear that he was annoyed with how easily Soliel could be set off. The molten man hadn't even noticed that magma was dripping from his fingertips.

"Hmph. I'd like to keep some semblance of civility here you two. Some. To answer your question Soliel and yours as well Che, I haven't advanced upon Victoria and Che's little band of Owls yet because I know there's no need to. The man before is also aware of this. Assess the situation Soleil. Before thinking so rash and hastily." Che had finally stood upright and taut like a child before a chastising father. Even the look on his face seemed to desire reprieve to an agonizing punishment forseen, but not yet issued. "Yes...Che knows this well. I can even cast a bit of forsight upon his tactic. Whether or not he says yes to ths deal, which he will, he'll send Roulin, his tried and trusted killer. His son whom he's molded into a machine...Yes. Roulin will be sent to retrieve this deck long before we're able to return to Old Exire. It is in that very plan that there is an easy-to-forsee fault. Roulin no longer trusts you Che. No one does. When you send your youngest child here to slaughter us all, he'll divert from his allotted path as the desire to kill Catherine Turner will inevitably over take him like a frenzied carnivorous hunger..." Timothy could match the resentment in Che's eyes with the dull, latent excitement within his own. "There will be nothing you can do to command him once he's out here Che. You as well as the rest of your beloved team again have to suffer the consequences of your foolhardy actions. Nothing has changed from the past. Only that this time when we're done killing your family before you wide open eyes, I'll kill you afterwards. If you want to live, then give me Victoria and I'll make sure that again, I'll leave you alive as I did for you and your brother years ago."

Che's eyes seemed to dwindle more and more as Timothy went on. The burning flame of confidence as well seemed to diminish over the short period. Visibly, Che was fazed. This wasn't the first time that the little Herald had forced him into a position such as this. This was either the second or the third. The Italian had lost count. What remained each time during each speech was that ironically saddened stare Timothy would give. It was a peculiar look...almost as if he didn't want to carry through with this. More or less, Che understood the look. He hadn't learned and Timothy was simply disappointed. Like a father to his taller child, they shared a gaze before Che broke the silence. I intend to uphold the deal made here today as your little Herald of Mind would be but a small sacrifice to...end this war as you say. What happens after I get my deck and you get your Herald and child here gets his floating rock I can't promise you. I will be sending Roulin after you and Catherine and I will be hoping what he does is the right thing. I believe...that we are done here."

"We are done here Che. You'll have your deck, I'll have Victoria and The Fallen Phoenix will have Exire again."

"Good."

((Card Will))

Sigh. Yes. Sigh. Because now Soliel had built up more confidence thanks to Tim revealing Che's weakness, his reliance on others. But still, of course Che could act. How could he not know? He had trained under Will, the man of many faces, another moniker for the devil. Will had acting qualities prior to his reign, and taking on the role only meant more fun and games.

~I'm not treading heavily Will...I'm well aware of just what's going on. I wish I knew where Gaeta was myself...but alas, tis just you and I here. I think at this point it's a little more than obvious that this war wont' end with this trade. It'll...it'll only get worse. *sigh* For what reason did you have to go and die Will? I needed you for this...I needed you alive to help me.~

Yes, of course, war would get worse before getting better. Things would get more chaotic before they became organized....one of Will's specialties, but Will wasn't particularly pleased at how Che was phrasing his longing for his mentor to be alive. "Stupid Cheani. You know I'm always watching over you, and certainly I am now for sure since I'm stuck inside this piece of paper." If Will had physical form, he would have patted Che on the head reassuringly as a father to his son. "I left you access to resources, and I made arrangements which will help you even if you don't have the brains to realize them." A punch would have followed. Will sighed inside the card. "You stupid idiot. Tim's right, you know. You do need to stop depending on others all the time. You have the resources to do this without me being alive." Will's aura seemed to get darker for a moment, even though he was no longer the Satan Owl. Perhaps, his personality, which could no longer revert back to his pre-Satan persona, had an affect on his aura, when he was not pleased with Che. "Just think of this as one of the final stages of training. And -----"

Outside in the real world, Cerbs remained standing by Che, but the hellhound had the urge to waltz over and pat Timothy on the head since the Herald was so short. One of his heads panted, and he raised a paw....

"Oh, Cerbs....don't you---"

...the paw patted Timothy on the head.

"Cerbs...if you're going to do that, just lick the kid."

There was a long silence as Che accepted Tim's deal with absolutely no resistance. Fine...so Tim was overconfident right now and thought he knew it all at this moment. That would work in their favor, but still...play it wrong, and it wouldn't work. "You f**king wimp. Couldn't you have at least pretended to fight? That's not how I taught you, you little twerp. You make it too obvious, as if you have a backup plan, which I know you do...or you better have one because if you don't, I'm calling Sebastian on you to give you a schooling." Yeah, because Che couldn't be so stupid as to only have Roulin as the backup plan when Che couldn't even trust Rou 100% anymore with his actions. Will had taught Che better. If Che was relying on him, Che was going to have massive headaches for the next coming years. "Brat, it's not the end of the world until I say so."

Che had told Kate to wait for him a short distance away while he went off on his own to talk to Tim and Soliel. Of course, she hadn't liked the idea one bit, but she hadn't voiced her opinion on the matter. However, considering how long he had been gone already, Kate was worried, needless to say. She knew Che could take care of himself, but against both Tim and Soliel when they held Che's deck in their hands? Pffft. Yeah right. Kate had every right to be worried. As such, the Eternity Owl had gone to find out what happened and see why this negotiation was taking so damn long. The point in the conversation she had walked in on was when Soliel had basically threatened Che to insult him to his face instead of from the safety of a short distance. Kate frowned in distaste.

"Oh will you please settle down and actually attempt to chill for once, Soliel Kilitia. " Kate said, unable to keep her silence any longer since this conversation had started a while ago. She would have smacked herself for using a stupid word (chill) she learned from Che, but now was not the time. She then turned her attention to Timothy as she spoke calmly. "Your mentor and predecessor is ashamed to hear you now, Timothy AvChoque: Bargaining to gain the ends you want which he knows full well is not the just and righteous path to take that you believe it to be. I think maybe that is your mentor's roundabout way of calling you a selfish little brat. You know full well that once Catherine Turner and her little hotheaded lapdog here get their hands on Exire, they will not stop until every human is dead. And you, well, you will continue your little vendetta until the new Herald generation has been put down for destroying your twisted version of a family. That is unless you decide to actually embrace them as new Heralds, let them live, and actually get along with them." With that, Kate had finished her piece of advice to the silver-haired Herald of Electromagnetism.

In the last pass week Khalifa had been with his team, there has been many questions as to where he had been when such a major battle of the war and so on had occurred and his help could have been useful and though he answered them it made no difference as to the turnout thus it was left at that yet he still couldn't help but wonder just how differently it might of turned out if he had been there, it might not have changed by much or at all, there was even the possibility that it would change a lot. He sat in his own room on a bed looking out of his window with these thoughts in mind but it didn't do much to dwell on them now. Standing from his sitting position the matter owl grabbed his bottle of water from the dresser located in the room and drunk the remainder of its contents before placing it back on the dresser. It wasn't a moment later that he heard the noise caused by Amara making her own exit, looking outside of his window he could even see the woman advance deeper into the remains of the city. He wasn't sure if it was safe to hid into the city alone but he was well aware of her being more than capable of taking care of herself. Pushing away from the window Khalifa walked back towards the bed which he would then lay back down on it and began to think what was next.

Lucien stood amidst the carnage of the city. Walking slowly he looked at the world around them, dismal and gray, devoid of any form of life. To his left a building gave way collapsing onto the ground sending a cloud of dust into the air. He turned his attention to a turned over car in it was a man limp and dead. He looked towards the man, his corpse defiling this permanent memorial to it's fallen. He reached in through the shattered window and gently touched the man's shoulder, in a matter of seconds Negation began to eat through his body leaving nothing inside of the car. Standing softly he continued to walk.

The soft noise slowly wafted into Lucien's ears, it was gentle and scarred like a timid dog or a small bird. Lucien had been walking in silence for nearly ten minutes but now something breached the confines of the solemn world. Looking towards the source he could see a little girl, injured half of her body was crushed under a large concrete fragment. Lucien looked underneath the concrete block he could see faint remnants of her intestinal track and enough blood to fill a bathtub. Kneeling down beside her he gently brushed her hair, her eyes were timid and afraid as she looked towards Lucien, blood trickled from her mouth as she shakily took in breathe after breathe. He went to stand up on one knee but stopped as one of her tiny fists clenched around his pant leg, she shook her head a little Lucien understood her final request.

Putting her head under his knees he knelt down beside her. Slowly he stroked her hair again as she took in shallow harsh breathes. "Shhh, just relax. No one should be alone in their final moments." Lucien knew that nothing any of them could do would save the girl, it was simply a matter of time. As she looked up at Lucien she slowly grabbed something from her pocket wobbly she reached out to hand it to Lucien who took it into his hand, he didn't look at it though there was no point right now. Smiling gently down to her he said. "You fought so hard, it's ok don't be scared. It's like falling asleep." He snapped his fingers creating several small floating lights, which were really just crystals reflecting light, the girl smiled a little, reaching up her breathing became softer as she did so. Lucien could feel it, her mouth relaxed and her hand dropped to her side, her eyes rested half open as she finally passed onto the next side.

Lucien stared down at her for a few moments before closing her eyes. "Go ahead to meet us all in the next life." He slowly got up, reaching down he touched her body causing it to disappear in a spray of black negation there was no point in allowing her body to become food for vultures, not someone who had committed no crimes in this world. Looking down into his hand he saw the girl had given him a little piece of paper written on it were the words "Tell mommy and Daddy I love them."

((Serena))

Serena watched in disbelief as weapons began to appear and land in the ground all around Kojiro. It was a sloppy display of his usually graceful and powerful ice power. She evaded any of the weapons that fell too close to her for comfort and managed to keep her distance away from the Frozen Owl. “Yes! People sure as hell die all the time! It is how this damn world works!” She resorted to the young males words in a clear tone of voice despite the fact that she was having to put more effort into the evasion tactics. Snow and rain was her one weakness in combat. Both elements outlined her silhouette and revealed her footprints. As much as she loved the snow she hated it for being so damn thick on the ground right now.“Oh for goodness sake Kojiro! The world started burning years ago this war is nothing but a repeat! Stop thinking everything that happens is all directed at you! Get over your sad little sob story and hold your f*****g head high! You are not the only one who has suffered!” By this point in time, Serena could tell that Kojiro’s sanity had completely been shattered. Suddenly the need to get through to him dwindled as the need to protect her unborn children doubled and took over. “Once more…try once more..”

The Vanishing Owls attention was currently split between Kojiro, the Leviathan and the Ice Golem. All three of them were a big threat to the severally weaker white haired woman. She turned her eyes onto Koji and shook her head sadly as he began to speak and laugh hysterically. He claimed that he needed to be alone. That he was too weak? “Perhaps you are too weak. You obviously seem to take the easier option of insanity rather than become stronger.” Serena took a few steps forwards to where Kojiro stood. He was so unstable and so unpredictable…in his current state she couldn’t trust him and she realised then that she couldn’t leave him like this. She was as much to blame for his broken self as everyone else. “Why…” A dagger whipped past the Vanishing Owl but she continued forwards, her determination to get close to the Frozen Owl outweighing the need to run or protect herself. “WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BE USED?! WHY IS THAT SO IMPORTANT TO YOU?!”

She was closer to Kojiro now. Only a few more steps and she could reach out and touch him. Her fingers were numb and that numbness was spreading throughout her body. In a way it was helping her to keep moving, for if she remained still for too long the winter would eat her alive. “From where I am standing it is hard to believe that you even have the will to love someone else….You are shutting yourself off from the world…your pain and suffering is nothing but your own doing” Serena took in a lungful of freezing cold air in a gasp as a claymore narrowly missed the young Frozen Owl. She staggered forwards and reached outwards, her fingers grasping at the air searching for the Frozen Owl. “You don’t have to sit and wait alone…Kojiro, come back with me…” The effect that the weather was currently having on her was enough to keep her from moving any further. Her body wanted to shut down and her boots had seemingly rooted their selves to the ground. Serena’s jaw tightened as it clenched together. And then, like her will had taken on a physical form, something had shoved into her back from behind. It was the last push that she had needed in order to close the distance between her and Kojiro.

Serena dropped the vanishing act and quickly wrapped her arms around the younger Owl. Her hair whipped wildly around her head as she clung to Kojiro tightly. “Stop this now...It’s going to be alright….” Tears fell silently down her cheeks as she rubbed the boys back slowly in a soothing rhythm. The temperature of his aura did nothing to stop Serena from holding him like her life depended on it. “I won’t leave you anymore…I won’t let you feel alone ever again…” If anyone had the slightest idea of what it was like to feel alone it was the Vanishing Owl. Hell, it made her realise just why it was that Will had assigned her that damned mission in the first place. Who else better to understand the workings of one person than someone who had once been the same as them before?

“I got you….I got you….” Serena repeated the words softly as her knees began to grow weak. They buckled beneath her but she held her ground like a stubborn mule. It was only then that she realised that the shove from before hadn’t been sheer luck…it had been the force of a blade striking into her shoulder from behind. The pain that had been numbed along with the albino’s hands was now hitting her in regular waves. The blood that seeped out around the blade of ice warmed her in the strangest turn of events. She pulled away and smiled at the Frozen Owl, her pale skin now pink from the cold. “Everything will be fine from now on…I promise…I won’t let you go anymore.” Slowly, Serena fell to the snow covered ground but she didn’t let up on the grip she had on Kojiro. The pain was now crippling her more than the ice cold conditions but it meant nothing now that she had Kojiro in her arms. She smiled up the Frozen Owl, determination shone brightly in her silver eyes as she bit through the cold and the pain “I have got you, Koji-Kun..." There was no way in hell that she would dare let him walk into battle as easily as she had let Will...

Jaylin LaQuiel

Within the abandoned hotel Jaylin found himself confined in his chosen room, he had been inspecting his firearms, having broken them down one by one, making sure there was no damage or rust and then cleaning them before putting them back together again. He knew full well that this war between Fallen Phoenix and Night Owls was not over so he was making sure he was prepared at all times, the last thing he would need is a firearm of his choosing jamming on him in the middle of a fight and over the week he had inspected and sharpened his blades and even inspected his armors, there was a lot for him to take care of given his ability but regardless it was something he did weekly.

Having finished with the many firearms that now littered the bed he sat across from and those on the table he was using as his work station, Jaylin claps his hands together before bringing them apart and opening his pocket dimension that held all his belongings and placed them all away. Standing and stretching he now found himself without anything to do and he hated just sitting there but then the thought of having not seen Elle throughout this entire week made him wonder where she was and on top of that he hasn't seen much of Erin either so he decided to pay her a visit and left his room with Erin room as his destination and once he stepped up to her door he knocked three times. "Erin? Its Jaylin, you in there?"

A week had passed. Only a week since that huge battle. It had been a quiet week so far, but a quiet week of emotional anguish. Elle was her sister, and all that she had in this world. Since that day, Erin hadn't really done much. She was in mourning after all. She had also taken great pains to make sure no one else would find out about her internal troubles this time. Erin had held what could be called a little memorial service for her sister, but she had been the only person in attendance.

Currently, the younger of the twins was was laying on the bed in the room she had chosen in this abandoned hotel. She was simply laying there, staring off into space. That was all that occupied the blood manipulator's time at the moment. That was until some knocking at the door to her room jolted her back to reality. She literally gasped in surprise. Erin sat up on the edge of the bed and looked at the door. Blinking, Erin got to her feet and went to go answer the door. Once there, she didn't open the door until she was sure her mood was improved from what it hand been moments before.

Upon opening the door, Erin blinked in slight surprise at finding Jaylin standing in front of her. "J-Jaylin! What are you doing here?" she asked.

Kojiro coughed lightly and then smirked again,"...My head high?....In a world of such suffering....I have no will to exist! WAR! PAIN! SUFFERING!...IT REPEATS OVER AND OVER! I have no wish to live here. But....no matter what...I can't die...as weak as I am....I can't die....some fool wants to rescue me...get in the way of a grim fate....for some twisted cruel reason....why can't I die?...I can't die...how about it then....I am tired..."

A hint of sadness was hidden in his chaotic banter, it rung beneath the next words, almost....begging behind the haughty words of the frozen devil.

"Go ahead and kill me."

Kojiro's smirk only grew wider as she began to say it was his own fault for the pain he had endured, he gripped tightly at the patch over his eye as he continued laughing,"....Perhaps it is....I must be some hell of a MASOCHIST!....You seem to understand it so much!" Kojiro's blades viciously shattered against eachother as the continued to ricochet around them. Kojiro's face then seemed to take once more persona....another that had quietly been whispering to him since the day Nathaniel died...not once did it shout angrily at the world or forsake that of faith for mankind. It simply hushed the worries of compassion and happiness, content with observing the ignorance of "Owls" And humans. This persona did not care to argue or preach philosophy....it simply saw what was...and murmered teasingly of simplicity, killing that which struggled was much easier than trying to quell its despair. It came to terms with everything in the world...and nothing at the same time. Everything Kojiro did out of despair and sorrow was childish and reckless...but what good was really stopping now?...There was nothing left....nothing to fight for. Nothing left to protect. This persona was the most dangerous for one reason though...

...In his eyes...nobody's life was worth saving...not even his own...

The Leviathan let out another roar as it slashed through the chains with it's tail. The golem began to rip the concrete from the ground itself., attempting to bash its way out. weapons began slamming into the famliars as well as Kojiro's powers began to spiral into a chaotic storm, destroying everything, but its focus was upon itself, Kojiro and Serena, like it was a disturbance in itself.

Kojiro, grit his teeth as he clenched tighter on the cloth covering his eye, "....Its all my fault...isn't it....when Nathaniel was killed...Thomas did it to get at me...a boy just like me was killed in cold blood for some purpose right?....why not that....Owls and humans in essence are the one and same, body, mind....spirit...they simply carry different weapons...but both chose to aim them at each other....every which one of them deserves to die...each and every which one that CHOSE to even so much as attempt to take another life...they deserved to be treated the same...I simply assumed it was only me...I figured I was the only one that lost close loved ones....that is not the case...but I also know....that they deserved to die...all of them." Kojiro's small shards began slowly crawling towards each other to create a jagged blade. "I tried...I begged...foolishly I begged to stop the fighting....I did not want to spill blood...Nathaniel was the same way...The moment he died....I realized...this world has condemned itself..those in the past who made such reckless decisions have sealed the fate by setting the tone for eons to come...and the world and its people will bear those scars til the ends of time....Innocence and mind have nothing to do with it....the children...a man of faith...mother and child...they are no different then me....and yet they too will be swept up in the storm that had been in the works for so long...Using excuses like human nature and the like. So why not?...why not forsake those who chose to end an innocent life I loved. I wanted them all to pay....someone...had to be killed...I wanted to kill them...even If I died clawing at their feet...I have wiped out hundreds of human lives...and several Owls that stood in my way...I was not content...In my misdirected hunger for revenge I discovered that there was no innocence, there is no good and evil..." Kojiro smiled slightly hidden within his pained grunt,"....Just strength...who is the most powerful...who is willing to give up everything to attain their goals...monsters in the eyes in the meek....Gods in the eyes of those who follow them...these useless Heralds...the Tempanus Wiki....Ches Deck?!...what was the purpose of putting these into material form?.....Swords and guns were not enough?....of course not...Its not what goes through the mind of the creator.....its the ignorance of those who seek power...its that which the creator foolishly neglected...A brilliant man in the past created means to achieve ultimate destructive power...only to die regretting it as he saw the destruction it created.....and now.....unwitting pawns are now playing the part as they are driven by hollow shells of what they thought was once just....What was supposed to be a world safe for Owls to live in...became a pool of blood for every living thing....Hearads are nothing now....just a title....Thomas himself of all people was a Herald....isn't that what Timothy was?...and look...He was killed.... no....slaughtered in a fit of rage...pointless......" Kojiro reached out towards the damaged blade.

"....Every single one of them...what is truly the will of mankind?...I...I am tired of it all.....all this pointless conflict...I actually
want to be alone now...no more pain...no more sorrow...If it is truly selfish so be it...."

Kojiro quivered in his breath as he silently began slowing in breath, his own power was beginning to slowly tear in Kojiro, "....But we know that is not how it will be...history will not allow it...I can't really just void the world of life could I?....why do I want to be used?...simple. A weapon has no emotion...no worries...no aspirations or dreams...and only hesitates when the wielder does....I wanted to be strong....I wanted to be happy....crafted to spill blood....a weapon sings when in combat....the gunshot of a rifle...the ringing of a metal blade...the harmonic hum of a bow....a weapon does not weep when another breaks...It sings joyously as it destroys anything it strikes...until it finally breaks...to rest peacefully wherever it lies..."

Kojiro's loss of coherent thought was getting more and more muddled, He kept one hand on his eye and the other grasped the blade, "...It doesn't matter what my wishes are anyway....they too...are pointless....we are done here..."
he murmured,

".....Kojiro, come back with me"

Kojiro's flinched slightly as the voice rang in his mind, still, his strike was to be true. He reared back to thrust it into this threat and end it. Several chains sprung out and wrapped his arm, Kojiro shattered the chains and attempted again, he felt Serena press against his ice cold body for a moment, Kojiro was frozen in place.

"...I won't let you go anymore."

Kojiro's eyes widened as he recognized the voice once again,"...S-Serena...." he mumbled.

"Wh-why?...."

Kojiro felt her body dropping, all those years he desperately held back his powers, not to harm Rikka, or to expose his potential, not to harm those close to him, The one time he wanted to restrain his powers...they now have consumed him, he could no longer just hold back, they were out of his own control, his hands could freeze her in seconds, they could kill her in moments, Kojiro was shaking as he realized he had successfully reached the potential of a sharpened sword....refined to the edge of perfection, an asset to the Fallen Phoneix...able to destroy anything that hurt him...

...And everything else.

Kojiro watched as her words were as clear, just like his own mother....who was also lost to the flow of time...her fate still unknown to him. And now another who forced her way to his heart once again, through the winter storm and desperately even now tried to quell it. Kojiro hated it, he hated it.....he did not want anyone else dying for him risking themselves like this...he did not want someone else to worry of his fate any longer,"...P-please....Why can't I just die...." he pleaded with inwardly the very storm he created, he could no longer restrain himself, his hands only a few inches from Serena, he could not catch her. Kojiro's eyes focused in and out as he realized what he had done, he saw the bloody knife in the back of her shoulder. Kojiro struggled to speak.

“The only person I love and the father to my unborn children”

Kojiro's eyes widened as he once again desperately tried to silence his powers, but they would still not show any signs of stopping, he was going to murder not only Serena, but the children she brought into New Exire..." Suddenly, everything became silent as the last of the knives shattered or fell to the ground, and any frozen structures vanished into snow, and save the physical damage that he has done, the snow and landscape looked as though nothing happened. Kojiro felt a searing pain behind his eye patch, his body returned to normal body temperature instantly, he caught Serena and hold her up from the snow, desperately clinging to consciousness as he fought the blinding pain.

~~~~~
A girl's legs casually were dangling over the ledge of a building, and only a few inches further a barrel of a long sniper rifle was perched towards the ground.
"....Your sights never left his head."
"I have my priorities..."
"You really are ignorant aren't you...you should not have let her even try to get close to him...he almost died like this in the past...this whole ticking time bomb could have been avoided if you heeded my warning."
"I have no intention of questioning her actions...so you were able to stop him?"
"Ironically enough....Serena helped."
"Right...I'm assuming she finally got through to him? and he found the the strength to restrain himself?"
"No."
"Enlighten me"
"Serena had caused him to once again question himself, and there was a lapse between his power and his control...the whole time I had been manipulating what had been hidden in under that eye patch against him, and through that, I was able to use his powers and restrain the leviathan and golem, as well as counter those knives the best I could...but I could not stop him completely...there was far too much power flowing to vent it all...that thing was almost unable to regulate his own power, if I failed....it would have killed Kojiro and Serena in that condition. I was able to manipulate it so it completely shut away his powers. But a stoppage like that is like holding back a monsoon...its going to keep him incapacitated for a while...I'm amazed he is still standing right now."
"So you mean to tell me that she was lucky to be alive?"
"Precisely."
"What is "It" anyway?....a seal? some sort of mechanism?"
"No....Nothing like that....a fool would think it was a seal...My lineage created "It" a long time ago for reasons I need not to explain for you...from what I understand Kojiro does not even know what is hidden under there...he thinks it is a seal as well...foolish...he thinks he is restraining his powers with that thing...but it is better that he does not know and nobody else does either...But I feel something different...Kojiro has tremendous power within himself...it is chained up and will remain that way...even now it is a blessing he did not go completely unhinged...but even then...There is something different present....something else is now part of Kojiro...."
"He is a Herald now."
"A Herald?"
"....He has not told anybody....but the previous Herald of water was a target of mine....she posed no threat....in fact....she was no longer a Herald...a waste of ammo so I abandoned the mission there...he must have inherited it"
"My....this may be a problem."
"We need to talk more about this situation some other time....lets focus on these two for now."
"So...The Satan Owl is dead...Serena must think she is all alone now like Kojiro....why don't you ever come to her aid or console her....You spoke like you were her family"
"There is no need to re-open old wounds...no matter how painful they are...and like I said before....I have my priorities."
"Business?"
"A promise."
Jaylin stood at Erin's door with his hair worn down and obstructing a bit of his facial features opposed to his hair usually being worn to the back, he didn't hear much of anything on the other side of Erin's door before knocking on it which made him question if she was even there or not but after knocking he heard what had seem to be a gasp, he would assume that he had caused it and that perhaps she might have been busy. The thought of coming back at an later date crossed his mind but at the sound of the bed and foot steps following made him reconsider and he would wait for Erin, perhaps she was indecent or indisposed for some reason but regardless he now placed his hands in his pockets as he waited until had answered the door. "What am I doing here?" He questioned. "I need a reason to come talk to a friend?" He added shortly after, he was so sure that they could be considered friends since they have seen and been around one another very little but regardless he was only trying to act like he wasn't coming to check on her and thus he sighed. "Well to be honest I came to check on you, you been locked up in this room for the past week. So I brought it upon myself to come see if you were alright." He stated as he looked at her face, the visor he wore without his commanding read Erin's expression and could pick up that something was indeed bothering her yet he would not state such and force her to become defensive. "And there was also something else I wanted to talk to you about, you mind if I come in or you can take a walk with me?"
At Jaylin's answer to her question, Erin became a little embarrassed at how she had phrased her question. He made a good point. Did he really need a reason to come talk to a friend? Not really. They hadn't really interacted all that much though, so maybe it was a stretch to consider themselves friends. But that was besides the point right now. It seemed that Jaylin was concerned about her. She had indeed locked herself up in her room for most of the past week, so it stood to reason that maybe people would be worried about her. "I'm sorry if I worried you. It's just that a lot of things have been on my mind lately." Erin replied, looking away a little. "It's nothing that's too bad though." she added, smiling, trying to make sure that she didn't worry Jaylin any more that he probably had been.
When Jaylin said he had something else to talk to her about, Erin looked at him and blinked. She was a little surprised by this as she hadn't really expected it. "A walk might be better. I haven't been outside yet today." she answered with a small smile. "I'll just need to put on some shoes first." With that, Erin turned to head back into the room to put her shoes on. At the back of her mind, she thought she might know what Jaylin wanted to ask about: Elle's whereabouts. Erin, however, wasn't going to ask and would let Jaylin bring up the subject on his own. Once her shoes were on her feet, Erin returned her attention to Jaylin at the door. "Alright. I'm ready whenever you are."
Jaylin could see that Erin was a little embarrassed at the questioned she had asked or at the very least now asking herself why she had asked suched a question, a faint smile would form on his lips at this fact but the smile would go almost as quick as it had appeared and he returned to standing there with an almost blank expression and hands resting in his pockets. ¨I didn't come here for an apology, its natural for teammates to worry for one another with they can sense or know something is wrong,¨ he would rely when Erin would look away, he was trying not to analyze her features as he would anyone to determine if they were being truthful, he wanted Erin to speak with him on equal terms sorta speak but when she tried to inform him it wasn't anything bad he just couldnt help but to worry as he could tell it was just the opposite of her words, he coukd hear it in her voice and her forced smile gave the opposite signal.
When Erin had chosen to go for a walk rather than let him in he returned the smile as he had hoped she picked the latter of the two choices, he hadn`t seen her out of her one once since they been at the hotel and maybe it was just him who hadn`t seen her but he felt like she could use the fresh air. ¨Alright, I`ll wait here,¨ Jaylin would respond as she would go for her shoes, while waiting he looked in both directions to see if anyone else was in the hallways. He knew there wasn`t unless he would have heard them but it was a force of habit and you can never be to sure, when Erin had returned his attention returned to her and with a smile he said. ¨Well then fresh air here we come.¨ he said playfully as a joke.
Jaylin led the way by two paces as he searched for and found the exit of the hotel, he would keep a mildly slow pace as observed they`re surroundings finding nothing but silence and rubble as he led her out a bit into the once ever lively and busy streets. He wasn't so sure how to ask her about Elle, he didnt want to be blunt but Elle wasn't the only thing he wanted to talk to her about so decided to build his way up to that. ¨So how have you been Erin, has things been well for you Prior to the big battle?¨ He asked as a starter for there conversation while looking up into the sky. ¨I know we didn`t talk much before my absence but I hoped that you both didnt endure to much hardship or pain while I was away?¨ he added shortly after now looking at her as if he could sense something had happened, truth was he had grown quite fond of the two and was amazed at their gifts, he had even taken a romantic liking to Elle even though he never voiced it and that was because it was to soon for him to even tell let alone admit to himself at the time but in his absence he found himself thinking about the time they had spent together and now that he was back he decided he would the next time he saw her. He didnt want to immediately pry into asking what had her down and stressed out or jump straight into asking about her sister, he felt it was rude and besides he cared for her well being just as much as Elle.
