Again Mica smiles. "That which is not..." he relies once more.

Mica nods. "Tell me the two forms of magic...."

Mica shakes his head. "I'm seeking a more elementary answer than that. What you say is true, but there is a division that precedes that... additive and subtractive. All magic fall into one of those categories. Additive magic takes something and creates something form it... Subtractive takes something and reduces it... Now knowing this... in what field does Fire magic fall?"

"not a bad answer but essentially it is wrong, I'm afraid. Fire is a subtractive form of energy magic. Let me explain why. Everything in existence has within it an innate form of energy. A force entirely of it's own. And this energy manifests itself in many ways. I'm not speaking of the energy you received by consuming food, Kero... but rather that form of energy which is received by reducing it to it's most elemental form. Fire has the ability to reduce... the ability to take an object and render it down to it's most elemental form... Now water on the other hand does not... water magic is a main component of healing magic... it is a form of alteration or creation magic.

"Now Kerobian is a grand master of subtractive magics, but over the years he has learned how to harness those elemental building blocks that are the result of subtractive magic and recreate anew... in other words, he takes those things which have been destroyed and creates new things from them. Watch this."

Mica conjures a small wood block and asked Kerobian to hold it, touch it, then to place it on the table. Once the cub has sat back down he envelopes it in fire. Almost instantly the block is consumed, leaving only a small pile of white ash.

"Where did the block go?" he asks quietly.

"Transformed yes... but it also consumed... producing energy as it rendered it down to it's most elemental form. Gather the ash together. How much of it is there... Could you reconstruct the block?" asks Mica softly

"But he can..." say Mica with an awed sigh. Kerobian vules-Noctuslain can take those elements left behind by the act of consuming and recreate the whole... or perhaps something entirely new. Fore you see... all matter is composed of those building blocks and there is finite amount of them... true this finite pool seems infinite in scope, but it is finite all the same... it is a cycle... additive magic takes from the pool to create... subtractive returns it to the pool... each feeds off the other in a way. in a way it is a vicious cycle, though there is nothing vicious about it at all.

I'm not sure for certain. Some say he lives on the edge of creation in a realm that borders the edge of time. Others that he lives on a plane that sits between here and there, a sort of pocket world that link the land of the living with the land of the dead. All I do nknow is that he is alive."

Mica chuckles softly. "Tell her I had you slaving away over the history of voidic magic... she may not understand, but she'll shut up failry quick. She hates magic."
