Mairi's steps faltered slightly when she heard Raen's thoughts and slowed her pace some so that they were walking side by side. She kept her voice low so that passers by wouldn't over hear "Uh huh...Can you please, then, explain to me why Hephaestus, god of metal craft and black smithing, would save me from whatever that fall through the 'hole' would have been?If you are right, anyways." The more she thought about the similarities between that shopkeepers aura and the white light from the hole, the more she came to realize they were the same.Ginhana trotted on ahead a few feet to explore a bit before the two caught up.

Raen blinked a couple of times, then took a deep breath before speaking. "To be honest, I don't know. Though I do find it a bit troubling to know that Artemis seems to dislike me for some reason," he said quietly. He glanced around for a moment before continuing. "Under other circumstances, I'd wonder if he had personal interest in you, as in familial interests. However, I don't know of a relationship between Hephaestus and the Fates," he said softly. He was unaware that Hephaestus and the Fates were half-siblings through their father.

Mairi shrugged "Maybe she's got a grudge against your parents or something and is using you to get back at them..." She walked silently for a little while, seemingly in though "Maybe...I felt as if I knew him somehow..." She shrugged slightly, knowing they were nearing the apartment building.

Raen shrugged one shoulder. He knew it was possible, thoughwhat he did recall of his parents was faint and blurred. He knew they'd died in a fire that had consumed the cabin they'd been in when he was outside playing at the age of seven; he'd seen the fireball from the nearby gas can, but had failed to seen the burning branch as thick as his leg which had snapped off with a sound like a shotgun going off and landing atop his right arm, shoulder, and the back of his head. Fortunately he onlyhad a three inch scar going diagonally from behind his right ear to just shy of his spine and collarbone. "As I hear, he likes pranks, so if I'm right, he could pull one on us," he muttered.

Mairi frowned slightly, she'd been off in her own little world thinking "Who likes playing pranks...?" She'd been trying to connect dots and see if she could figure anything out, all she had so far was that she resembled one of the Fates, had some untold connection to Hephaestus and she was blind. She wasn't off to a good start at all.

Raen tilted his head slightly, mildly amused at Mairi's semi-blank tone. "A certain immortal metal worker," he sighed, fighting back a chuckle as he spoke. He lightly touched the small of her back, guiding her and making sure she didn't stumble or fall as they headed up to their apartment.

Mairi frowned slightly, expanding her gift just enough to see the stairs "Oh...I hope he doesn't...I've had enough pranks and jokes to last awhile..." She heard the bubble wrap Chihuahua's in the apartment across from theirs and smiled slightly.

Raen glanced to the side, hearing the Chihuahuas barking. He shrugged. "Hopefully he already dropped the stuff off and went about his business. I don't know, but I get the feeling that worlds like this are like vacation spots to the gods, but I have no idea and I doubt one will hang around enough for us to ask," he said wryly, half amused. He started up the stairs, cocking his head fractionally as a very slight frown flickered at the corners of his mouth. He wasn't sure what was troubling him other than the fact that Artemis apparently either didn't like him or preferred him dead, which apparently wouldn't be easy if not impossible, but he got the sense that something was searching.... and not necessarily for Chibi-Usa.

Mairi nodded slightly "Hopefully...But then why do I get the feeling you think otherwise?" She ran her hand along the wall as she walked, using it as a guide and for support.Ginhana bounded up the stairs and down the hall to wait for them by the apartment door.

Raen shrugged. "No idea. I don't really see many of the gods being all that interested in here, much less in us," he said quietly.

Mairi dug the keys out of her pocket and handed Raen his copy.At the moment, it'd be easier if he just opened the door, it would save time and a lot of frustration "Yet so far, one has sold us the apartment, another saved me, and sold us furniture, and another shot you with something...Funny, how they don't seem to have in interest in us.Don't you think so Ginny?" She voice was thick with sarcasm and a hint of wariness.Ginhana snorted slightly "Leave me out of it.I want nothing to do with your arguments."

Raen sighed, rolling his eyes. "I mean they have no real interest in what goes on in this world as a whole as compared to other things," he said dryly as he opened the door, mildly surprised to find the furniture in there completely set up. He glanced around the room, seeing what seemed to be a retractable staff made of gold, bronze, and black metal. He also saw a pair of scimitars with black blades, amber-red edges, and golden hilts. Both sat on the kitchen table, while there was a good sized mirror he recalled glancing at in the store.

Mairi snorted slightly "Some gods they've turned out to be..." The mirror was the first thing to catch her attention. She saw three items on the table that glowed slightly, but couldn't really tell what they were. The mirror though, seemed to pulse when she entered. That weird aura coming from it again. She expanded her sight, slightly surprised to find everything set up, including the bed rooms "Raen...He actually made the beds..." Ginhana spotted her cradle by the couch and hopped inside, immediately curling up.

Raen rolled his eyes. "Come on, most of them aren't exactly pleasant or thoughtful of others. Look at Zeus, Hera, Dionysus, Poseidon... all of them vindictive in one way or another, not to mention the first two are siblings who happened to decide to marry one another," he sighed before blinking, noticing the bed made. "Hell, the only gods I really respected in the Greek pantheon were Demeter, Hephaestus, and Hermes," he said with a shrug.

Mairi made a face, looking grossed out "Okay, time to change the subject." She reached out and toughed the mirror's frame lightly and was rewarded with an odd humming sound "Though I do agree with you and those three...Do you hear that?" She tapped the frame again and again it let out a humming noise. And instinctively, she knew if Raen tried, it would stay silent.Ginhana raised her head, watching curiously.
