Whispering Minstrel As the sound of the ghost's shoes drew closer, she would see the knight hurriedly cup something that had been emmiting a warm light in her hands that she seemed to have been...talking to, and reaching up to her ear. A second later, the earring hung there like before. "...I should be apologising Lady Phantom. I...largely don't dance because...it causes trouble for me back home. That shouldn't effect me here...he can't see me here...he wouldn't know..." Cid shook her head, taking a deep breath and getting up. She appeared to have already calmed down. "To whom do you refer to? You mentioned a 'he' earlier as well."

The elf shook her head at Solsi's words, "No, I don't think it had anything to do with what you said. I-I'm sure he had his reasons, Nef is a complex being." Her head then nods in a sage fashion, though that might not be any grand and revealing statement. A blush slides across her cheeks hearing the compliment and she can't help a smile and wiggle of delight. "O-oh, thank you~ Ribbons are kind of a thing for me." Which then reminds her of the pocket square she had been given and has since just been holding as best she can between her fingers. Without much thought to her actions, she continues to speak and works the piece into the bow in her hair as an accent. "I would probably have put on more, but it may have looked less formal." Gigi bobs her head at Solsi and calls after her retreating form in a sing song fashion,"Okay, but you're next~" Her attention then turns to Jessie and finding someone also shy makes her want to be the one to put them more at ease. "No worries, we're just going to try and have fun." She placed her hands over Jessie's to take hold of them and offer comfort. "We can just sort of sway to the beat if you like." Her blush had mostly gone now as she lead the other girl out on the floor. Taking Jessie's right hand in her left, she put Jessie's left hand on her shoulder. She then gave the girl a small smile and spoke,"I-I'm going to be the lead, if that's okay. And if my hand on your waist bothers you, j-just say." With that, the elf placed her right hand on Jessie's waist and lead her in mostly a comfortable back and forth sort of sway. The spot she picked was sort of off to one side and not too crowed so as not to be in the way of any who might have been up for some fancier foot work. "I-is this okay?"

"Talk, huh? Well, I've already talked about some stuff so... What's the difference between a witch and a mage?"

Phantom Anon "To whom do you refer to? You mentioned a 'he' earlier as well." Cid bit on her lip slightly, not sure how to speak of him without coming across as seeming degrading of him, "My...my father. He doesn't like having reminders of my mother. She was, is, a dancer in a traveling troupe. So when ever I was caught trying to be like her...he would become...very upset."

The Dragon Anon After thinking about it he realizes it really has been awhile since he had truly laughed. "I'd call it unusual, not weird. I think more people should keep track of such things, maybe people wouldn't be as unhappy." He surveys the room quietly, keeping an eye out for trouble while Lucky has her eyes shut. "You think so?" she mused, opening her eyes again. She wondered about that, personally. For sure there would be those that would appreciate how much laughter was in their life. But, it was like anything else that could be given measurement-someone out there would want more than what they have, or become jealous of those that have more than they. It could get dicey. She kept these thoughts to herself though and raised an eyebrow as she noticed Nefiriam looking around, almost as if surveying the area. "What's up?"

"I believe the ceiling is, why do you ask?" He looks back at her, head tilting slightly in question. He either didn't realize what he was doing or didn't think it was odd to do.

The Phantom shifted uneasily as she considered the knight's words. She wanted to question more about the matter, but she was supposed to be here to comfort the woman not reopen old wounds. "Your father might have been able to dictate your actions in your homeland, but here you are free of his wrath." She took a moment to let her words sink in, "Do not let a mere memory of what once was haunt and control you. Your life is your own; do with it what you please. Lest you regret it in the quiet of the night."

"Ah, nothing, never mind," she replied. In all honesty she was likely doing the same thing all night, so who was she to judge. She glanced around at all the people dancing and talking. "You know, I think this is the longest I've seen a ball go on Gaia without some sort of trouble showing up. Think the bad guys missed the memo?"

Thank you for coming over to try and help. It's really nice of you Lady Phantom...I probably should apologize to Nef for running off...once he's done with his dance of course." Cid turned her head in the direction of the dragon and Lucky, having heard some laughter from that area.

Starlight Princess Lucky Quick movement caught the eyes of the prince as he conversed with some of the guests. He turned his attention to the balcony and saw a familiar face rush over there. A moment later, a sextant came out and she was taking measurements. That was curious. Astraeus politely excused himself from the others and made his way over to the balcony. "Are the stars in proper order, my dear?" he asked, amused. Minty flicked her fingers, operating an imaginary abacus. She frowned, and then sighed. "For you, yes, I think so. For me? Sadly not. I seem to have undershot my target by about a decade." She shrugged, putting the sextant back wherever the heck it came from, "Story of my life though. I couldn't get the stars to align for me if I put them there myself."

At the mention of the dragon, she turned and watched as the duo danced. Other couples seemed to be edging towards it as well. Tucked away in the quiet of the corner, the Phantom suddenly felt rather removed from it all. As pleasant a sight as it was, her mood began to darken and the air around her cooled a few more degrees. "Do give him my regards as well. I think I may visit the balcony."

"Is that so?" he mused, stepping further out onto the balcony and looking upward. "With the number of stars in the sky, more often than not there is at least one group aligned at any given time..." In fact, there was a set aligned that he knew of this night. Though thankfully they seemed to be behaving themselves. He looked back at her, "Which alignment interests you, if you don't mind my asking?"

Clara took a little time to think about that one. "Other than a witch being generally "evil", not much. Mage is only a fancy word used for magic wielders."

"I will...but...is something the matter Lady Phantom?" "No," the frown that had been forming smoothed out as her face became impassive, "All is as it has always been." As the Phantom left for the balcony, the chill in the air receded.
