Sio dante_sparta honestly, i don't care for the advanced techs. but i'm not the worst player because of it. Out of the people discussing this, yes you are. Quote: and you shouldn't call other people noobs if you have never seen them play or know them at all. Considering you're neglecting even just basic advanced techniques despite knowing of them, I think it's safe to call you a noob. how would you know. you have never seen me play and for all you know i might be able to beat you. the thing is that you have no idea of what my skill is. just because i don't do things you do doesn't mean i'm a bad player.

xXDrummingBeastXx dante_sparta xXDrummingBeastXx flyer3f This is funny rofl . my friend has beaten everyone I've known, even me. He plays it every chance he gets with anyone. BUT HE DOESN'T EDGE HOG, WAVEDASH, OR SHFFL!!!!!! WHAT A NOOBZORZ!!!!!![/sarcasm] Just because someone doesn't do a cheap move like edge hogging or just wavedashing doesn't mean they aren't good. Heck, I never do them and I beat everyone, but my friend. I even have 286 trophies( i know! it doesn't mean i have skills by beating computers.) Sure, everyone has their own techniques, but I'm just saying that you don't need those techniques to be good. Honestly, if you can't wavedash or SHFFL, you CANNOT be good at this game. Rolling and smash attacks will not make you good, you'd understand that if you didn't only play with your other noob friends. I'm sorry to break it to you, but advanced techniques like these are VITAL in being a good SSBM player. And as I said earlier, these are just TWO of the many techniques there are. now your just being stereotypical. honestly, i don't care for the advanced techs. but i'm not the worst player because of it. and you shouldn't call other people noobs if you have never seen them play or know them at all. originally that word was used for people who are new to the game but im not sure anymore because of the way people are using it.(sorry to get off track but i've wanted to stress that noobs are supposed to be people who are new to the game. not people who suck. if im wrong plz correct me.) 1) What am I being stereotypical about? 2) You don't seem to understand the importance of advanced techniques. If you don't use them, you can't be that good. As I have said before, rolling and smash attacks does not make you a good player. 3) In this case, the word noob is used to show a players lack of skill. your saying that all people who don't use advanced techs are not very good players. that is being stereotypical. and i completely understand the importance of advanced techs to players who want to do that. but they are not neccessary to be an incredible player. the truth is you don't know who's out there that could beat you. people not using advanced techs can beat people using them. and i'm not saying advanced techniques are bad to use. i'm simply saying that they are not neccessary to be an incredible player.

Theres a difference. 2) I know for a FACT that I can beat ANYONE who can't use advanced techniques. I have played COUNTLESS people, I would know. You people aren't understanding the importance of advanced techniques. YOU CANNOT BE A GOOD PLAYER IF YOU DO NOT USE ADVANCED TECHNIQUES PROPERLY AND WELL.

SilentBlackTiger I wouldn't say "real" players. I'd say "playing at a professionally tournament" level. Or something like that. Yes, I prefer that term much better.
Ah, whatever happened to playing video games for fun, though?

It's still around. Part of having fun with the game is understanding it, and being good at it. I only made this topic to try to make braggers understand their skill level.

Perhaps it's because winning is fun.

maybe real players is too strong a term. perhaps i should had said more skilled. either way it is no accident that the the same group of players win the major tournys. it is because they put in the hours and praticed the stuff these people are talking about. L-cancleing may only take off 5 or so frames but when you are playing for money or pride or even for fun. those 5 frames should matter to you. at 60 frames a second that is 1/12th of a second. because a highly skilled player only needs less than 5 frames to do damage or start a combo.

Tigerzero Hahah noobs, a good player doesnt need to use advanced techniques to win. Oh, wow. I guess they're not necessary to 'win,' especially if the people you play with don't use them, but to even think about trying professional level play, advanced techs are necessary. Seriously.
Oh btw, I completely agree with the first post, obviously. =P
