See one time I started the race but instead of running I waited for the rabbit guy to go first and when the time was up he said I almost discovered my animal instinct. So maybe it has something to do with waiting for him.

I read in some random guide (I sometimes read them for the kicks) that it is impossible to beat the rabbit guy...

Yeah, he is impossible to beat. As far as I know, though, ther's a way to beat him with a cheat device.

omg i've tried to hard to beat that guy! At first i used Epona, and i always beat his record, but hed be there 'one second; before me, so i realised thats not how to do it. I mean, i got down to under a minute and he still beat me rolleyes heh. And waiting for him doesnt work, he wont leave until you do, and after 4 minutes, he says youve given up. Also, ive tried warping to the lost woods, but time does actually pass when you warp, so that failed. I've also tried going through the haunted wasteland, finding a different path, i did manage to find a guy on a carpet who sells bomchu's for like loadsa rupees. So that didnt work either.
If ANYONE ever figures out how to beat him, i sooo want to know, its one of the only things in OoT i havnt managed to to, its killin me!
I'm pretty sure theres some sort of secret path o find that he uses, but wont let you see. You just have to find it.

No, it was my friend's... I was mainly readin' it for the kicks (the main author is hilarious) and he was practically cussin' out the rabbit guy for beatin' him... however, I was interested and checked it in the official guide thingamajig and I think I also saw there that you can't beat him... I'd have to look it up again and I forgot that friend's phone#...
