Nuke was feeling the hurt from the rapid start in this match, but he was still a veteran.
As Drako leaped up for the elbow, he rolled to the side, leaving Damone nothing but mat.

Drako hits only the mat, sitting up out of reflex and immediately reaching for the elbow that had crashed into the mat instead of Nuke's chest.

Fusion had used his veteran instincts to move out of the way, but he held his head for a second from the pain that was inflicted earlier in the match.
He tried to shake the cobwebs before taking a slow knee, and then getting back to a standing base.

Drako starts to push himself back to his feet as well. Maybe he should stop with the elbows. They never land anymore. Shawn Michaels lied to him. All those years he made it look easy and Drako can't hit an elbow to save his life

Which was kind of poetic after all, as Nuke was fighting for his career right now.
It was time to start pulling out the stops.
Up at a standing base, he looked to rush Drako with a European Uppercut.
If successful, he would aim a standing dropkick towards the ropes.

Drako is just getting to his feet and clocked with the uppercut, knocking him back a step or two. Nuke wisely follows with a dropkick that knocks the Soaring Dragon right back against the ropes

Nuke got back to his feet in quick fashion, and this time actually slapped his own face, leaving a small red mark across his cheek.
He then rushed at Drako, aiming to spear him through the ropes towards the ramp!

Drako might have been prepared for the more traditional clothesline over the top rope. Nuke went a different route, instead catching him with a devastating spear, sending them both through the ropes and to the floor instead. The Soaring Dragon likes to fly, but perhaps not in this way as his body hits the floor with a hard thud and he ends up sprawled out on the outside

The crowd all stood on their feet - now that was one for the highlight reel.
Nuke had inadvertently crashed down onto Drako.. technically, that is a pin attempt.
The ref ran over for the count!

good thing it takes the ref a few extra moments to get in position.
one...two...thr...
Drako narrowly rolls his shoulder off the mat. If the referee had been outside, that might have been the end there. At this point, he just remains on his side after rolling his shoulder up, his back absolutely killing him already

The cheers rang out across the arena as Drako kicked out, but both men looking severely hurt at this point.
Nuke groaned and looked towards his shoulder where his opponent was, and knew that he had to get them to his feet.
He slowly tried to get up, looking to stretch out a little.. and then would try and drag Drako by his hair up the ramp!

Drako doesn't have as much yet to resist as he would like, forced back to his feet and at least partially up the ramp by his hair. It's always the hair. About half way up the ramp, however, he drops to his knees, whether on purpose or just a reaction to pain is debatable

It seemed like these two were going back to old roots as Nuke aimed an insult at Drako, followed by an attempt of a hard kick to the ribs.

Drako isn't that out of it not to hear the insult, and despite the kick to the ribs, he's going to talk his s**t. Also, for good measure, he aims a hard shot at Nuke's stomach from his kneeling position

Nuke took the strike to the stomach which made him wince and almost double over.
In brutal retaliation, he looked to grab Drako's head and plant him into the ramp with a DDT!
