❀ ❝Ⓒⓞⓡⓐⓛⓨⓝ Ⓓⓤⓑⓞⓘⓢ❞ ❀ ══════════════════════════ "I'm falling for you."Gestures she never thought she'd frequent had turned quite frequent, she barely ever shared a kiss with Camil and yet here she was, barely having labelled their relationship, she shared a kiss with the man she had slowly started to fall for. In the beginning, she thought she was merely drawn to the man because of how he filled that void Camil left when he took a piece of her with him but slowly she realized it wasn't it. The only thing the two men shared was that they cared for her. Their personalities were quite the opposite but both strong and resilient. She found her liking of Aaron to stem from his own qualities, his personality and him alone - it wasn't because he fit the space quite well - she thought as his fingers brushing against her skin sent sparks as they brushed her hair. Did they have to pop questions? Did they need all that? Maybe just to vanish any possible clouding, but she wouldn't mind even if he chose not to. "Alright." she smiled back at him. Heavens knew she wouldn't ever get herself to hate him if it came to that, he was way too nice to her, something she passively saw in Camil but Aaron wasn't shy to display that. She assumed men thought of it as a position of weakness, well some men, maybe most. But her father wasn't that way, neither was her grandfather, both men were open about their love for their significant others and their children, but the world was quite different from home. It could be a cruel, vile and filthy place sometimes, though, people could make it feel good, Aaron on the other hand, made her feel like she was back home. That was what she felt the moment she opened her eyes and saw him, smelling of iron and mud but clinging on to her as she felt her soul enter her body again. She never thought she'd mean so much to a man she had barely known, yet she did. She didn't want that feeling to fade. Resting her head on his shoulder, she inched closer so they were close, her hand slipping down to slide against his own, wrapping her fingers between his before she cast her glance back to him when he spoke. His question made her shy her hues away, she was still guilty, faces of the victims she got for that beast flashed before her eyes as she cast her gaze down to her feet now. "I couldn't remember anything while at the museum, you know, separated from myself. It was very odd, but once I got back into my body, everything came crashing back into my head." she admitted, "I wish I could stop myself from hurting those other people.." she'd sign, exhaling as she looked back at his wound, reaching over with her free hand to brush against it. Tears welled up at her imagining how much it must have hurt, though she held back as she heard him, tugging her lips into a subtle smile. "Well.. regardless of what happened. I am so glad that you are alright. And not hurt along the way." How could he be so nice to her? "I had another nightmare last night.. I still can't get over how I failed to protect you." "Why?" she'd sign, slipping out of his grip to face him better, standing before him. "I'm alive and well, and God only knows what would have happened if you didn't show up when you did." she added, cupping his face and pressing her lips to his forehead before pulling away. "Thank you." she smiled. "If something ever does happen, you'll find me." she smiled.
Coralyn smiled when he said he liked what she made, nodding before she headed to get him another towel. As she did, her face started to turn red, handing him the powdery pink speckled towel while her mind was picturing him in one. She did see him shirtless at the beach the first time they met so she had a vague idea what he'd look like, but damp from the hot shower? She quickly shook her head to brush that image away, "Oh okay." she stated, quickly picking up the plates so she could go wash them and not think of what she just did.

Swift, soft swishes of sweeping motions filled the silence that started to weigh down in the room. There was no usual lively music to make chores feel less like chores anymore, no up beat dancing with the handle and with no music, no attempts to lip sync to the singer with a concert for one. It was just the mechanical motion of cleaning as her baby blues remained fixed on the carpet spot she probably went through over ten times now. Her heart beat with each swish, as soon she seemed drawn back to reality. With a deep breath her lungs filled and attempted to exhale the anxiety that was building up to this very moment. She finally had to address the elephant in the room.
Despite it being a while that Aaron was gone, Coralyn couldn’t find it in herself to get rid of his things. Maybe there was this little spark of hope, that he’d look past the allegations of breaking her trust and address the distance he built much before that. She hoped they would have a chance to reconcile, especially when she was hit with the fear of losing him for good. But, the man left with what he had in his house, the place they once shared a roof under was now seeing other visitors every other day until someone would eventually replace him. Life seemed to be moving on without him, he must have moved on without her, so, it was only fair for herself that she did too.
Coralyn saved herself the trouble of stalking his social media or reaching out. But seeing as he never came through with his promise to take some of the things he housed in hers, she decided she would start getting rid of them- but that was after much contemplation and struggle. Even now, she procrastinated by sweeping the house thoroughly until she couldn’t even keep going. Thankfully, she realised she was procrastinating again.
One by one, she filled carton after carton, hawking through the house for every last ounce of him that didn’t belong. She busied herself enough to even organise what she found. Three cartons that were in various levels of full with his clothes, his tech materials and…those dreaded books. She worked fast enough to barely give herself a moment to reminisce the past while she gathered everything. Stopping only when she felt like she turned her house upside down to her everything out.
There they were, three boxes worth of things that were reminders of a past she once shared with someone she once loved. Three boxes worth of a person she now grew astrange to. Everything died down to three boxes, where promises were made to share a lifetime. A lifetime in just three boxes. She gave herself a moment to remember them and cry, she deserved that. She deserved thinking back on them for a moment at least, as she weeded those moments out for good. She deserved a little bit to herself where she could pour out her emotions, though, she just wished she had someone to give her some comfort.
Piles of rocks competed with piles of tissues on her side, but it felt good to let it all out. It felt good to get this out of the way. She drew her phone and sniffed as she typed a short message to social media- offering up her findings to anyone that wanted them, free or for a little bit of cash. Wiping away the tears that were yet to crystallise, she cleaned up after herself and set the boxes by the door. Maybe if nobody wanted them, she’d just find somewhere to recycle them.
"Goodbye Aaron, it was nice while it lasted. I wish you the best in life. But I can’t wait anymore, it’s time i moved on.." she thought, picking up the tech box as she left to deliver it. (EXIT)

How long had it been? Days? Weeks? Months? Years? Last time they had a conversation was when both sat for dinner with their parents, but Jean had seen Aaron around here, followed him, and kept up with him. Even the accident - yet he couldn’t bring himself to actually approach his brother, and now Aaron was gone again. Part of him was thinking ‘good riddance’ and part of him felt like weeping. It was so difficult sorting through his emotions and he half wanted to just run again, but he felt comfortable this time and he had companions now. What could he even do about this wretched feeling?
Well, stalking. Apparently.
Since late last night he had been watching over Ms. Dubois’ home in his feline form, wondering if anything would’ve changed had he revealed himself sooner. Sleeping under a bush till morning, he proceeded to follow her to work and then wait around outside the shop. He had briefly stuck his nose inside at an opportune moment, but retreated as the intense smell of dirt and flowers wasn’t really to his liking. When Ms. Dubois’ went home, Jean followed her closely once again, almost at her heels the entire way and the moment she opened her door, he zipped past her legs and into the house, disappearing into a corner to hide before she could stop him. He wasn’t really sure what the plan was, but he never really had one to begin with, he just lived by the second and today he decided to at least see the inside of her home. He wanted to talk to her, but what could he say? Would she even believe him?
Poking his head out from underneath the cabinet, he watched for the woman, giving her a little growl and a hiss should she get too close without him being ready.

Time was slowly healing the Aaron shaped void that he left her with. She managed to get rid of a lot of his stuff, some of his clothes remained which she was trying to give away to charities as and when she could. She replaced a lot of the cups and reminders she had of him, simply so she could start from a clean slate and that did feel good. It also helped having people over, like that strange red haired man she befriended and his mini version that seemed to have a mind of its own. She was hoping she could start having more of her friends over, bake for them or cook something nice, maybe watch something with them if she could but she didn't want to grow full dependency on someone again. Aaron's leaving did remind her that not everyone had the luxury of staying forever.
Spending time at work did help kill the need for people, she could get busy with her plants and flowers, tending to customers and more, which kept her form thinking too much. So, today like any other, she did the very thing. Although, oddly today she felt a bit of an itch in her nose that her allergy medications didn't always counter. Crossing paths with an animal was inevitable, so she took them religiously, but sometimes when they were close she did feel a very mild version of her symptoms when some where close.
Work went on uneventfully but she soon saw the little culprit when she stepped outside. She smiled, thinking it probably was looking for food, but was surprised to see him following her home. He seemed much smarter than she had thought, oddly enough, he looked like the one who didn't seem very fond of Aaron that one day they had a cat visiting. She opened the door and stood transfixed for a moment when it zipped inside before her.
Coralyn wasn't one to shoo a stray animal, but she wasn't sure if he needed help or was hurt. She pursed her lips and closed the door, looking over at it and hoped it wouldn't make a mess if it wanted to leave. She went to the kitchen, assuming it went somewhere there, spotting it with a little smile and stepped back when he hissed. "Maybe he's hungry?" she thought to herself, rummaging through her fridge and found some boiled chicken she was going to use later, heated it up in a little dish and placed it near the cabinet where she saw it poke its head out earlier. She placed some water too in case it was thirsty, watching it like a hopeful child who wanted to befriend a stray. She could barley sit still, she was already itching to run around the house to see if she had anything it could play with or maybe sleep in if it chose to stay. But she sat at a distance, trying to show it she meant no harm and waited patiently for its head to emerge again.

This was all approximately what he expected of his surprise visit - last time she hadn’t been hostile and neither was she now, even as he hissed at her. Patience is a virtue, he supposed. Watching her move above from his skulking position, eventually a tiny dessert plate was placed with food in front of him. Jean could smell it all the way from the fridge to here, nearly overwhelming his senses and with little hesitation he left his hideout to start munching on the offering. He choked down the chicken and moved on to the water shortly after, having his thirst quenched after only having puddles and fountains to drink from all day. Then he watched her curiously, contemplating his next move, only to decide his stomach was more important than his original quest.
Place a paw underneath the plate, toe-beans turned to touch the porcelain, he almost looked like he was about to flip the plate - or pick it up. Claws turned to nails on human fingers, his thumb touching the plate so he could gently lift it off the ground as the cat stood up and was then a man. The transformation was fast and quiet, blink and you’d miss it, and as he towered over her, he reached the plate out towards her with some amount of apprehension. “Do you have more?” The question was shameless, but he didn’t feel overly comfortable with the situation as a whole. Of course he could’ve just spoken to her as a cat, but it just didn’t feel right in the situation, besides, he would have to burst the ‘brother’ bubble sooner or later.
“I actually wanted to talk to you… but, I’m also hungry - if you would.” This was about as polite as he could bring himself to be, hopefully it would be enough for her to not freak out too much.

The woman watched in amusement as the cat wolfed down her offering, so he was hungry after all. She was beaming like a happy child when he ate it all and went for the water, tempted to reach out and touch him. But she refrained, not wanting to scare him away. She was already set on giving him more, seeing how spotless the little dish looked, she figured he was hungry but watched as he reached for the dish. He seemed trained to even touch it like that and possibly ask. Though, what followed left her jaw agape as she didn't think her innocently trying to feed a cat would...what?!
As shameless as the question was, she was more concerned with the man now holding the plate- who was a cat before! That would sound like crazy talk even from the most sane person, but she nodded nonetheless to his question when she reminded herself that she lived among creatures of all kinds and took the plate. "I'll fix you a bigger one." she said without hesitation, but signs as basic as they could be with simple gestures like pointing to the dish and extending her palms like she meant to make it bigger. She wasn't sure if-he could read, or sign, so she did the best she could to be understood. To be fair, reaching for her phone wasn't the first thought in her mind.
She went back to her fridge, occasionally glancing over to see if he was still there and really there as she pulled out the chicken and a container with some of the food she prepared earlier for the week to heat them up and set them in a bigger plate for him. She handed it to him once it was warm enough to eat, wondering if he preferred the floor or the table now that he was...human? Could he shape shift to other things? Or just a cat? She watched curiously as she squat down to the floor again or where ever he chose to sit, but curious nonetheless. Besides, he mentioned earlier he wanted to talk to her, but why her?
Finally thinking of something, she drew her phone out and typed, "You said you wanted to talk to me?" she typed, pushing her phone forward but tried not to seem impatient and let him eat.

The hell was she waving her hands around like that for? He understood being speechless, but wasn’t this a little much? His apprehensive stare became scrutinising as he tried to follow along her strange communication, before he laid his ears down and the tail started swishing behind him. Was this a mistake? All the same she went to the kitchen to start fixing him some food, meanwhile he slowly made his way towards the dining area, one mistrustful step at a time. When he finally sat down, a plate landed in front of him and he dug in with his fingers, bent over the plate to protect it while he kept his eyes partially focused on her. The almost feral display was less so about his distrust of people, but more a natural response to having to fight other animals for food.
She gave him time to eat some of his food before eventually disturbing him enough to make him stop guarding his plate and instead look towards the device pushed towards him. At first he just laid his ears back, narrowing his eyes at her like he didn’t quite understand what she wanted, but he did reluctantly pick up the device to look at it. Despite the immediate blank page, he expected to perhaps see a picture of Aaron or similar, instead he was only met with a little line of text. Looking from the text to her, he once more looked disapproving till he focused fully on the text. “I don’t read.” He complained, but tried all the same. Jean didn’t want to be so obvious about it, but he couldn’t help but silently mouth each syllable as he made his way through the sentence, still he was struggling a bit and wanted to block off a section of the text with his finger, but somehow he got out of whatever it was he just annoyingly put the device back on the table and pushed it towards her.
“Whatever! I’m here about A-...” The name got caught in his throat and instead of his growing irritation, he looked down at his plate, glum for a change. The name brought both happiness and anger, both of which hurt, so he went through a few conflicting emotions before he lounged back in his chair and crossed his arms. “Aaron... You knew him. I just - I don’t know - wanted to hear about him or something.” He finally muttered, almost sinking beneath the table as if he didn’t want to be seen, and despite the softness of his tone he expressed annoyance and anger.

Coralyn watched with amusement to say the least, this was probably not the first someone transformed before her, but probably the first she saw something so harmless - well partly harmless - could turn into a human looking...person. She watched as he ate, much like a feral cat who didn't trust humans but she tried to be patient with him and not stare as much as she was already doing.
The woman tried to wait on him until he had finished a sizable amount of his food, before curiosity got the best of her and she typed a message and pushed her phone before him so he could read. She pursed her lips a little while he looked, thinking she must have upset him by the way he looked disapprovingly at her phone. She looked at him with mild disbelief. Of course, he didn't want to upset him so she nodded and took her phone back, tapping away so she could use the read aloud command on it. It wasn't uncommon for people not being able to read, some older folk or people who forgot their glasses would expect her to use the read aloud feature should she need them to read something. But, it seemed like he beat her to it.
Tilting her head a little as she saw him catching himself before saying his name, she straightened up and took a deep breath while thinking about him. Seeing how he reacted to his name, she figured he was somewhat important to him, maybe more? Maybe he was looking for answers about him? Her own mind ran with thoughts, wondering who he was, why Aaron was so important to him, but she didn't think bad mouthing him was going to help.
Letting him sink under the table, typing at her phone as quickly as she could before she tapped the speech button and set the phone on the table so he could hear, "Aaron, he used to frequent here. He was very kind and caring, but also very occupied with work. He was a cop here, helping people." she started off, typing some more, "He had an accident though and decided to leave after that." wondering if he knew all this, or show him how upset she was with his leaving. "He left a lot of his stuff here though, I don't know who you are, but you can have them if you wish. A lot of them are his clothes and some of his belongings." now peeking under the table to see him, wondering if he had any intention of opening up or telling her why he wanted to know.

He was acting like a moody teenager, he knew that, but he couldn’t help it. Their history was a little complicated and also simple. Jean had always loved his brother but also had an intense hatred for his profession, making it hard for them to get along - but still, he knew Aaron. Jean grew up with him there mostly, aside from their age difference and school.
Scrunching up his face like he bit into a lemon, he avoided her eye contact as much as possible as he re-emerged to sit properly on his chair. “I know all that.” he said with a bitter tone to match his face. “Is his favourite colour still the same? Does he still listen to metal bands? Is he still clumsy and an absolute nerd? - things like that.” Perhaps it was hard for her to really answer these questions without knowing Aaron’s past, but she could tell Jean about all the man’s idiocracies that may or may not still be there. Softening his expression, Jean sighed heavily as he put an elbow on the table and his chin in his hand. “I used to know; just wanted to know if he changed a lot or if he’s still the same.”

Coralyn now sat back in her chair, watching as the man now. She was a little amused by his expressions, his mannerisms to say the least. He reminded her a lot of her own sister - a sour young woman much like him but she didn't see her to care enough to want to know about her unlike him. What-ever his relationship was with Aaron, it seemed like he cared enough to want to learn about him now as opposed to then.
Drawing her phone back to herself, she took a moment to type something, pausing every now and then before she finally decided she got something worth his while and set it on the table before hitting the read aloud option. "He is a nerd, always playing games or building things when he had the time for it." the reader read while a little smile formed on her lips at the thought of it, the sight of him crouched over something, hunching down to a shrimp while working on it. "I didn't know he listened to metal. When he was around me, he would listen to more calm and soothing music." the reader added. "His favorite color is blue, and he spent hours talking to his parents at home, asking about his brother.". The reader continued, talking about his sweet tooth and also those nasty books she had the most joy throwing out - his erotica collection. Of course, she didn't mention what kind, just called them nasty books. She did try to give him as much as she could without dumping too much, but soon her expression began softening and her lips pursing as she tried to keep herself from crying at the thought of him.
Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and looked away, wiping her face as she still felt for his absence. She quickly shook it off to put on a brave face for the man, the strange cat in her house before she smiled a little. "Hope he hasn't changed too much from how you remember him." the reader ended as she tapped the table to get his attention, smiling wide to see if that cheered him up a little.
