Landing in a streaming bolt of lightning through what must have been the Bifrost, the woman in charge of Core only just missed seeing her son, instead finding herself instead before Shion. "Oh! Shion! You must have finished your training in the fields required, right?" With that in mind, she indeed ushered her towards the back most building where the ANBU made their home.

Shion shrugged, following Jeon's gesture to accompany her further into the compound. "It would seem that way. So what now?" she'd ask simply as the two made their way down the halls to wherever their destination was.

Jeon gave a smile to Shion, ever hungry for progress such as she was. She'd been off on busy work long enough, and so the leader motioned for the girl to follow her. "Alright, I'm glad to hear it. Hopefully they weren't too rough on you. We're heading into the ANBU division itself now." As she led Shion down the hallways, she would see porcelin masks lining the hallways of an extremely well designed building. Red rugs lined the walkways over stone floors, clearly laid out as a part of someone's training. Every room they passed was dimly lit, and the ninja inside all were in uniform. Jeon herself removed a mask from her side, something of a cross between a howling monkey and a deva raja, carrying it at her side as if she may need to suddenly don the anonymity creating cover. The masks on the walls each were unique, with a name below them, and several of them were missing. Oroborouros was one... Hino Kagatsuchi another. Further still, a mask with the name Yamasan too was missing. A winding staircase had them ascending to the second of a four leveled building, where several masked faces immediately rose to their feet, arranging in what looked to be practiced battle lines. "" she called in her native tongue, a command Shion would eventually learn. Each of them did so only after she lifted the mask to her face. She let her eyes roam to Shion behind it, then back again. "Way to scare the kitten, everyone. This is... well I guess it ruins the mystique we build up if I don't let you all do it."

Shion would be met with several faces she was likely to have seen around the village before removing masks from their faces to reveal themselves truly, and then each one of them would randomly prattle of a fact about Shion, may a quirk she had or a law she had broken when she didn't think anyone was watching. Of course they would, these were the ANBU of CORE after all. Acronyms like those carried WEIGHT.

"As you were. Shion, this way." She said in a much better mood after allowing her secret ninja to have a bit of fun. She found herself, then, inside of an office not far from the entrance around a corner where there seemed to be several bedrooms. "Stand here. Now, you have seen a lot already because you've won some trust among the ANBU by virtue of you being you. Secrecy is a weapon, as is a sword. Secrets kept are weapons, you know. And this village has more than it's fair share of those. I won't give you the whole speech cause when Jay and I heard it, the little ceremony sorta blew our heads up and... the rest is history. You'll keep our secrets as such. Everything discussed in this building is confidential by default. Identities, even if they are public, are NOT to be disclosed. Mission details are even more clandestine. You're giving yourself to a cause that will demand you often surrender autonomy for the good of our village. Now is your last chance to leave before you are forever a part of CORE. If killing in the name of Arashigakure, spilling maybe even the blood of your own brethren, isn't something you can do... if you cannot condone assassination and sabotage, drowning a village, dropping a mountain on a hospital with complete and total deniability that you even exist... now is the time." She was entirely serious, so much so that the smell of ozone waffed through the room as she rifled through a case she lifted from below the desk, keeping it such that Shion couldn't see into it.

Everything about this place rubbed Shion the wrong way. The jumpy guards and the dimly lit rooms were one thing; she'd seen the likes of them many times before. Working in the dark was just another part of the job and, honestly, anyone could list off a bunch of misdemeanors and have them be true of Shion. What really got under her skin was the hall of masks. She couldn't put a finger on just what it was about the masks, but they weirded her right the hell out. Shion cautiously followed behind Jeon, offering a quick glance to the sides every few steps. It was a rare event for Shion to lose her composure and drop the 'tough guy' act, but with each new row of mask... each new set of watching eyes, the bravado slowly gave way to uncertainty.

Once the pair had made it to their destination, Shion did as she was told and listened to Jeon's every word with intent. Each of her demands, each condition... Shion was fine with it all. Keeping secrets was easy enough, and so was killing. Still, she found herself a little shocked at just what she was agreeing to... and how easily she was doing so. Was she really okay with surrendering her free-will? Of course the answer was 'so long as it betters the village.' It just went against everything Shion thought she stood far, everything she was about. "I'm ready," she offer as a simple reply, resigning herself to whatever fate awaited her by accepted the terms and conditions of the ANBU and CORE.

Jeon clapped her hands together in delight. "Right then!" she finally decided on something, it appeared, and she reached into the box. When she pulled her hand free a mask, white with golden accents and light blue features painted on made itself visible. It was clearly feline, bearing fanged teeth with an entirely serious and tough demeanor. And what was more there seemed to be something more in the mask. Another of my siblings caught, huh? the Hachibi lamented, but also seemingly chuckled, in her mind. Jay looked into the eyes of Shion, then to the mask.

Might as well. The girl would likely do well to have a counterbalance if she survived.

"Come with me, Bastet," she mentioned pointing when she called her by her new name, and then motioning for her to follow deeper into the compound where secret ninja actions would be done. On her way past her gaggle of young, hot blooded anbu, she would issue a directive for her secretary to be brought.

Shion rolled her eyes at the Kage's choice of mask, lightly chuckling to herself about the obvious pun. Cat mask for the Cat Summoner, huh? Classic. Her connection with the Cats was something she had never really seen as a large part of her identity, but apparently that was about to change. Shion, cat lady of Arashi... or... Bastet, now. Not missing a beat, Shion would stick close behind the Kages. "So... is there some method of choosing names? Not that I dont like mine... it sounds strong. Just curious how you think of them," she'd ramble, a clear sign of her growing anxiety about what was to happen next.

Just behind her, and moving with purpose, came the secretary, obviously still masked. The black horns twisting a foot into the air over her head made her appear much more frightening than she was already simply from wearing the mask and black gi. "Maam. Oh, hello Shion." The voice of the secretary would be familiar, at the very least, as the woman bowed. "Mission complete. I assume, since we are here, that Shion accepted the proposal?" Jeon gave her signature smile, nodding and pointing at the mask in her hand. "Wait. She's going to be our Bastet? Oh... that means..." she trailed off. Jeon could imagine the face she was making. "Well, yeah. Sorry. Don't worry though, I can help you with the sealing. Shion, move into the middle of the room for us. I'll explain later." With her oath to obey and be a vessel, there was little for her to do but obey. Jeon and the secretary needed but a few moments to prepare, and when they were done, the approached Shion and peeled away the outer layers of her upper clothing. With just her small clothes on, Jeon painted something very delicately on the woman's upper chest. A single symbol: Neko. Meanwhile the secretary touched her back and began to focus her chakra. A few seconds passed... long... deliberate seconds as Jay let the paint quickly dry, and then touched it with her palm. She touched the mask to her face, affixing it, and made a seal.

An explosion of flame filled the room... spectral and exceedingly hot as it began to take the shape of several hundred kittens all around. It wasn't simply the title for the summoner of cats. It was also because Shion would become the holder of the cat demon. With it's sealing, all the kittens seemed to slowly turn into Will o Wisps, slowly sealing into the body of the girl. With the completion... a loud roar would fill the ears of Shion, and she would be sucked into ehr own mind... finding the massive cat awake, angry, and held in place by a heavy metal collar and large mittens over it;s paws. The leash held it in place against a massive metal post, and as it roared and screeched, it circled the post, lunging for Shion who was safely far away from its position.

On the outside, Jeon and the secreatary merely waited to see what she would do... if she could handle this.

[Medium Seal: Raikage's unnamed seal complete.]

The outside ceremony was a blur to Shion; a haze of memory too cloudy too even attempt recalling. No sensation from the outside world could reach her in her present state. Right now, the caverns of her mind was the world. Well, that and the massive iron bars... along with the beast they contained. Fear, wonder, and confusion simultaneously gripped at Shion as she struggled to comprehend what was before her. Then again, thinking was never her forte... maybe that was why the reflection of her mind was so... empty. What felt like a life-time to the girl passed before she finally mustered the nerves to confront the demon cat. "Um... 'ey... what're you supposed to be exactly... what is this?"

The cat's hissing and thrashing about finally stopped, forming into a low growl as the kitten realized she wouldn't be able to do much more than waste her own energy. At least, now, she was conscious and not simply stuck in an object she couldn't even wrap her head around the necessity of. The kitten fell on her side, fiddling with the collar which, in turn, made Shion's stomach twist up a bit with just the sensation of the demon lazily trying to escape her bindings. Jeon appeared beside the newly minted jinchuuriki, arms behind her back as she looked at the frustrated cat. "That, would be the one known as the Nibi. You are now the host of a great and terrible weapon my dear. Not to worry. I will be here to aid you in taming this beast, and eventually maybe even befriending her." Matatabi looked down at Jeon with narrow eyes. "Not... likely. I see my older brother has found a home within you. Just because you managed to pull one over on us doesn't mean we will EVER bow down to you. I will never let you rest, I will never let you forget I am here. Get used to the world's WORST house guest, little girl!" With that, and a temperature spiking hiss, they were ejected from her world, with Jeon giving nodding to the secretary, who departed for the office once more. "Welcome to Core, Shion."

In what seemed like a flash, the conversation within Shion's mind was over and done with. She was now the bearer of a demon, though bearer may not have been the proper term. With no means to control or coerce the beast into using its power, she played the role of a fleshy-prison more than a true host. Now wasn't the time to think of that; given time, she'd learn to harness the beast. Now was the time for celebration. A life-long goal had finally been achieved. Sure it wasn't for Kumo as originally planned, but Shion had finally made it to the top; she was now a member of the ninja elite. Nothing could stop her now... nothing except her new roommate, that is. A truly joyous smile spread across her face, stretching damn near from ear to ear; though it would quickly give way as the Nibi within her began to thrash once more. The stirring turmoil of foreign chakra within her quickly turned Shion's stomach. Her head quickly grew light as she staggered to try and catch herself, but it was all wasted effort. Maybe in time she would get used to the foreign body, but right now it was too much for the newly minted CORE agent. The room began to spin and fade out to blackness as Shion collapsed to the floor.

[Fade to black, exit, and we'll see you next episode]

The chaos was deafening, it was harsh, it was scary. Most of all... it was dangerous. As the moon struck out, the prison was filled with a mixture of howls, confused cries and all out battle. Thankfully the prison cells, more or less, were setup to contain these people at their best. That said nothing of the CORE shinobi, Anbu, Hunters and Police all, suddenly looking feral and snarling as they snapped at each other, attempting to assert dominance or just wild and blindly trying to kill any and everything around them. A sudden piercing howl, strong enough to cause the whole of the area to vibrate started up. Standing in the center of it all... long hair wild with streaks of white and brow amid it's raven coloration. She was hunched low, one clawed hand digging into the ground, the other with it's gauntlet in place reared back as her shrill exclamation permeated the ears of all present, affected or not. Jeon had made herself known.

Thankfully, before she could begin her own rampage, something happened: a bright flash of light came just before a rumble as Jay himself landed on the ground, holding Magni even if he couldn't rightly use it. He was a solid 40 feet from his sister and yet still she honed in on him. Almost immediately he held a hand forward, extending a spear of lightning to meet her preemptively as she barrled right towards him, causing a small crater from her feet slamming into the floor with every step. As soon as it hit, she was rebounded into one of the wereanbu, and the two of them rolled across the ground. Jay flared his nostril, feeling acutely aware of how alone he was. How he was going to need an edge. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, calling something out of himself. He didn't need the Gyuki... just it's chakra. A single tail extended into the air behind him, along a cloak around his body. "You all better find your senses... and quickly. Otherwise this is going to go poorly... extremely fast. I'd hate to have to cultivate all new agents and officers, but if it keeps the civilians safe I will absolutely crush all of you."

__ Captain Kosei arrived at his office at the CORE Compound. He passed through clearance and walked through the courtyard before entering the enormous police force wing. Once he arrived at his desk he began commanding his subordinates. There were parts of the village that were being neglected in terms of patrols. "Kumo" police never wanted to step foot in the "Oto" refugee populated sections of the village. The captain noticed a spike in the crime rate in that area as a result and needed to order the patrol officers to operate there as well. Once those matters were settled in central command, he walked into his lieutenant's office. The police force received a substantial increase in funding last month because their expense reports kept going over.

When he walked into the lieutenant's office, he stood up and bowed to the
captain. "Have you looked at the expense reports yet for the month?" Kenshin asked directly. The lieutenant tensely rubbed his neck before responding. "No sir, not yet." Kenshin shook his head disapprovingly. His lieutenant was highly productive, but always neglected to supervise the expense reports sufficiently. There was a mid-level officer who handled much of the accounting that the lieutenant was in charge of directly supervising. When Kenshin grabbed the file for the finances he walked back to his office. If it were possible for him to do all the work for the police force without delegating then he would gladly do so.

Kenshin diligently read through the expense reports. It seemed that the police force's money was leaking like a sieve so he had to keep asking for more funding in their effort to guard the village's laws. Kenshin's stone cold composure was shattered as his eye began to twist. "Ten thousand ryo on new handcuffs?! Twenty thousand ryo for donuts?!" He began shaking like a volcano ready to erupt. Once he read through all the financial data from the past few months he took careful note of it. He knew that he would have to figure out where the money was going. If not he risked failing to manage his own department because of internal corruption. Kenshin would not abide by that, it was clear that there were officers in his ranks who were not spending money the way they said they would. He hoped that his own lieutenant was not complicit, but he had strong suspicions that the officer who managed accounting certainly was.

Kenshin stomped over to that officer's office and found that no one was there. He kicked the locked door in with a strong sense of ire. He tore through the office to find all of the financial documents he could. He poured over them to find any further discrepancies and seized all of the binders. Once they were securely stored in his office under lock and key he asked one of his subordinates where Officer Shinji was and he indicated that he was out patrolling the white flash district. He knew that he would have to go after him for an interrogation and gather clues.

The detective needed to gather information around these expense reports while he was in the CORE Compound. Most officers who were on duty were on patrol at the moment, but there were still some staying behind. He called all remaining officers to the interrogation room. Once Kenshin made his way there and settled into his seat he waved the officers into the room one by one. The first officer stepped into the room and sat down. Kenshin began asking about financial topics. He knew that this officer had access to certain funds. His questions were becoming more detailed and the officer answered satisfactorily. He was now no longer suspicious of her, but she offered no useful hints of corruption.

Lahlil was thrown into her cell with a ruff slam. The guards could have been a little nicer with someone thry weren't even sure was guilty yet. Immediately scuttling into a corner of the small cell Lahlil buried her face in her arms and brought her knees up to her chest. Oh marbles how am I going to get out of this one? There isn't even anything in here. A quiet sigh sliped past her lips that betrayed how close she actually was to breaking down and crying. So couldn't though. She couldn't show weakness here or.. something bad might happen. No, instead Lahlil let her head hit the back the metal wall and let her mind wander until sleep took her.

That is when Ferrah woke up. She wasn't surprised to find herself behind bars again. Given the chance people would let you walk all over you if you let them, and Lahlil let others get away with far too much. It had, however, been some time since she had been in this position and a churning twisted in her stomach as flashes of her childhood wormed their way back into her head. The feeling was hard to disconcern, somewhere between anger and determination. What she did know though, was thst it was all up to her to pull Lahlil through this. Eyes like a calm fury she surveyed first her surroundings and then whatever was visible outside the bars, which wasn't much to be fair. If they made it easy for her she probably would have broken out and gone right back to laugh in their faces. Next she attempted to mold her chakra which also ended in failure. Hm I wonder. turning back Ferrah went to examine the bars locking device hoping to identify whatever mechanism thst keeps the doors shut when a little pipk! came from her. It was such a tiny sound that the sight of a girl wearing such a serious expression and then making such a noise might have been comediac. Ferrah however ignored it.

RINKA xxxxx

Rinka stumbled, falling to her face with a sharp thud, as she was shoved into the cell along side her partner. Her instincts told her right arm to reach out and catch her, but that command fell short of a shoulder stump and an empty socket. Her remaining hand groped around in the dark, feeling up the floor in an effort to collect some data on her surroundings, as she pushed herself up to her feet. She didnt need her eyes to know the cell was empty, cold, and barren, and she didnt need to see how it was effecting her partner. When Lahlil made her dash for the corner of the cell, Rinka quickly fumbled her way blindly to her side, taking a seat. The two had to remain strong, at it had shown that a supportive approach worked to keep her partner's morale high.

Rinka wouldn't say anything; not like she ever had anything to really say. Instead, she'd let Lahlil rest and go about putting her own plan into effect. Once it was clear Lahlil had fallen asleep, Rinka began to dig her clawed fingers into the stoney floor, leaving deep gashes in the stone with each pass. To most humans, it would appear as simple, rough lines carved into stone or the signs of a prisoner's anxious fidgeting. To Rinka however, each line she dug out added one more word to a plan of escape.

The oni's body was built to break rocks and stave off a rough environment, so the stone floor didnt stand a chance against her. After a few brief seconds, her chicken scratch would be revealed to spell out the oni word for "explosion." Content with her work, Rinka would place her palm over the scratches and channel her chakra into it... only thing is, her chakra wasnt working. Hmm... maybe the police werent as stupid as their cheif lead on. Alright, time to change plans!

In hyper-focused state, or perhaps due to her current lack of sight, Rinka hadnt noticed that Lahlil had awoken and now stood next to her, fiddling around with the locks to the very door she was currently trapping. After a slight bump into Lahlil's legs, or whatever lower area Rinka's head was near, the Oni girl would quickly scramble to her feet and face the general direction she had felt her partner just moments before. "Lahlil... is okay?" Rinka would ask, trying her hardest to keep an upbeat and supportive tone. "No worry. Have plan." she'd finish, giving a thumbs up and beaming a jagged-toothed grin in what she had hoped was Lahlil's direction.
