The scratches in his neck fur sent him into heaven as he leaned into them. When the secret friend was finished, however, he straightened himself out and turned to the girl Kenshin spoke to. Her scent was familiar, but it changed drastically. The dog had a difficult time properly identifying her, which bothered his sensibilities as a ninja dog. When Kenshin asked if he was with her the dog barked and shook his head. He only had one owner, and this girl was certainly not him.
It was strange seeing a softer side of Kenshin. On some leveling it was unnerving actually. The man whom was cold as ice showing love and affection to an animal. Under different circumstances she might have found it to be less than irritating. He was quick to ask if she was with the animal. The dog, it seemed, was quick enough to answer his question. Yuno found that entertaining to say the least, the idea of a dog that could understand humans. However any amusement she felt was soon drained away by the return of stern Kenshin. The way he spoke in reference to her got her all roiled up. How dare he continue to speak to her in such a manner?She took a moment to calm down before saying anything to the man. "Why are you no longer minding my father's office?" she asked coolly, doing her best to hold back the irritation she felt from entering her voice. On some level she already knew the answer, if a man with as much love for duty as Kenshin wasn't at his post, he'd been relieved. That meant her father was back. However she also wanted to hear it from him.

Souta figured he'd come see what was up with his house since, well, Aunt Mizuki had mentioned it being destroyed and he had gotten little in the way of info before they were all shooed out of the office. He'd bound up his hands to practice his Eiseijutsu skills, instead of just fixing them with healing hands. Taijutsu training was rough once you actually got into it, but the slight bruising and cutting on his knuckles wasn't something that bothered him. He seemed to heal a bit faster anyways. No sooner had he turned down the street towards home, though, than he ran into Yuno and Kenshin, obviously about to start an argument over a dog. Or, at least, that's how it seemed at first glance. For his part the boy simply buried his taped up hands in the pockets of his casual wear and waited to see what happened. He didn't need Yuno picking on him for the fact that he had to train harder and rougher to keep up. It'd be false to suggest he wasn't also hoping for some fireworks, to see his sister fed some crow first hand; however, unlike Yuno he was unwilling to vocalize that desire, mainly because he knew it'd render his need to work harder moot. You didn't get to work harder if they were throwing you in jail on a regular basis. For now he casually took up a position about equidistant to the other two, looking curiously between them and the dog, waiting for a pin to drop and break the tension.
__ Todoroki indicated that he was not with Yuno, which perplexed him. The dog could not have possibly answered his question and Yuno certainly did not. When she asked him a question he would instinctively respond. "That's none of your business." Kenshin said curtly in a move to stonewall her. If she was asking whether her father had returned or not he would answer that as that was her concern. He allowed several tense seconds to pass before continuing. "However, I will say that your father has returned safely." With that news given he could only guess that Yuno was not happy with him despite her deceptive tone considering his disciplinary actions a week ago. He then looked over and noticed yet another familiar face. "Good morning, Souta." He said in acknowledgement when he looked at him. Genetics really baffled Kenshin. People are by their very nature at birth either law breakers or law abiders. Sadly it appeared as though Yuno was born with the lawbreaker's genetic makeup while her cousin was not. "Now, do either of you have important matters? If not, I have work to do." Kenshin was finally going to be free to pursue his police missions as the captain. Street criminals were reprieved of Kenshin's presence for far too long. He also suspected that he might need Todoroki's nose for his next assignment.

Todoroki waited for the humans to finish speaking. He really did not have anywhere to be at the moment. He had to gather money, and judging from the size of Kenshin's house Todoroki could tell that secret friend had a lot of money. He wished that he understood why these people cared about fathers and offices, but hopefully one of them had a treat for him.
Yuno stubbornly stood her ground even after Kenshin tried to stonewall her. Her thick headed form of patience bore fruit after several seconds of air so thick you could slice it with a knife. Father had returned. She could find him now and that mean't she could ask for righteous judgement to befall Kenshin. It would be ever so sweet but the idea of it had already been marred by the realization that she couldn't keep relying on the power of others. To put it simply, such a victory would be hollow at this stage of the game. "Thank you," she replied curtly after he broke the detente.
Souta's arrival was interesting... it caused her to wonder what he had done during the week she was trapped within the CORE compound. The difference between their choice of clothing was interesting as well, Souta having opted for traditional formal while Yuno wore new formal styles. Speaking off, she took a moment to straighten the tie she was wearing while Kenshin greeted her brousin. The way he spoke so neutrally to Souta seemed to just piss her off more. Enough to prompt her to do something perhaps a little foolish. When Kenshin asked if either of them had important matters to attend to she gave a crooked little smile. Not quite a s**t eating grin but certainly not a genuine smile. "I'd like to know how one might go about joining the police force."
Though her smile was less than sincere her eyes were dead serious. This wasn't a joke though it may have partly been devised as a way to get a rise out of Kenshin. The police represented a certain form of power within the village. Justice as Kenshin might call it. "You taught me something very important and now I want to give back." She was at least being mostly truthful. Though how Kenshin would take her words was an unknown. Though more than likely he wouldn't take them at face value. The boy's eyes narrowed slightly at his relative's request, but he didn't lose enough focus to not remember a bow to Kenshin. To be honest, he wasn't fond of the man personally, though couldn't say he really disliked him either; unlike Yuno, who had clearly developed some sort of animosity towards their senior shinobi. "I would simply like to help in whatever way I'm needed, sir." Prim and proper, there was unstated malice, or at least antagonism, in Souta's choice of words. It'd go over the head of Kenshin and the pup, because neither actually knew the true nature of the two they currently dealt with. They got only Souta's carefully crafted and unassuming demeanor. His true message would play to its intended audience though, and that was all that mattered. Souta popped back upright from his bow, long hair swinging as he looked innocently between the two people in front of him.
Kojiro would be mid stride when he would notice Kenshin. It was his routine of the morning to wake early and run before continuing with his day. Disipline would only strengthen his resolve. It was this time when he would take note of Kenshin standing outside with several other shinobi. He paused, wondering if he would be intrusive to approach at what might be Kenshin's home. Seeing as the others had no qualms with it, he approached. " Good morning Sir!" he said between breaths. He would move on if the groupings were not engaged in some sort of mission oriented conversation.

__ Kenshin noticed that Todoroki seemed exciting and he knew that he would be the perfect tracker dog for the job he had in mind. Todoroki already had some minor experience in criminal justice so this seemed like a proper fit. As usual, Yuno decided to say some thinly veiled nonsense that would only serve to irritate Kenshin. The idea of a juvenile criminal joining as a cadet in his police force was unacceptable. Then again, given her name she would easily be able to join despite his wishes. He resented this fact because Kenshin's whole life was a struggle. His father was a rogue ninja from Kumogakure who was locked up in the Gimangakure Prison. Kenshin had to crawl his way out of there and beg his father's family to let him immigrate to the village after a childhood of abuse. The family begrudgingly allowed this but stripped him of any Hyuuga nobility for the sins of his father and offered him no support. When he was Yuno's age he had to work, live on his own, educate himself, and graduate from the ninja academy in his late teen years. "We don't take applications from jailbirds." Kenshin growled his words out in frustration. He did not believe her statement that she was taught something important from her experience. Redemption was to Kenshin a discredited fantasy and a dangerous idea for the society he has dedicated his life to protecting.
When Souta bowed respectfully and made his polite response Kenshin believed that there might be hope for this generation after all. His frustration was also healed by the sudden appearance of his student, Kojiro. Pale hues looked over to Souta now. "Are you interested in the police force, young man?" Kenshin asked and was curious about what the new genin's aspirations were. He then motioned his head towards Kojiro. "I know he is." Kenshin said with a degree of pride in the potential Kojiro showed in becoming a great member of the force someday.

Souta perked up at the mention of an opportunity, and had to put in the slightest amount of effort to not smirk at Yuno's expense. "That'd be great!" The boy started, bouncing on the balls of his feet before catching himself and realizing he was being a bit too enthusiastic. It couldn't be helped though, someone was offering him the opportunity to do something other than train. For all the conniving Yuno inspired in Souta, he was still a kid. Jeon expected a lot of him, and in turn he conducted himself with a bit more composure than most his age, but he was still prone to his own outbursts - though they tended to be less antagonistic than his sibling's. For now he gathered himself, conforming his demeanor to that of the lessons of his parents, "I would be honored to... um, to have the opportunity." He added, searching for the right word, before giving another very slight bow to show he respected the nature of the offer.
Todoroki whimpered a bit when the girl was told that she could not join. He finally was able to identify her as the one with the weird hair colors who gave him plenty of pets. That made her a friend of his. And Todoroki loved all of his friends. His pleading eyes looked up at Kenshin as he whimpered once more to plead Yuno's case. He hoped to help the girl in some way.
His touchdown was quieter than one would expect from a man qs tall and bulky as him, but when he appeared there was just the flash of dark blue light and small cackles of electricity. His eyes were laser focused, expression easily read as angry. Threatening. Kenshin, Souta, the dog... none of the others mattered as the Arashikage took Yuno by the shoulder, weapon holstered on his back to free his hands, and formed another seal taking her away in the same flash of light that had carried him there. He dropped her on the floor elsewhere, atop a building that allowed them to be both alone and outside of the range of Kenshins byakugan. "I hear youve been busy... little girl." he spoke crossing his arms. Around her, the reports of her excursion with Toso as well as some other things she might not have known that CORE had observed her doing and sinply chose not to intervene. "Yuno. I am beside myself with disappointment. What do you think... who do you think you are? Do you not understand the dangers inside these walls? Do you not understand how easily you could be hurt... be killed? Do you not understand that you, above your peers, above even your cousin are expected and rwquired to be BETTER than this?" he scolded down at her like he usually didn't. Somewhere inside, he imagined that was a part of the problem.
The dog seemed to react poorly to Kenshin's response. For a moment Yuno wondered if it understood their words? However it was a dog so how could it? The idea sparked her curiosity as something to look into later. Yuno's reaction to Kenshin's words was outwardly one of irritation, "Tch... Then I shall have to make you take me Captain Kosei." She paused thinking out her words carefully. "I'll prove myself to be more than capa..." before she could finish her father appeared behind her and spirited her away.
Confusion. Yuno blinked and took in her new surroundings. A roof somewhere, she wasn't really sure where. Before she could even stand up her father spoke up. The tone of his words took her by surprise and kept her quiet as she listened. Her fist tightened as she did so. How dare he lecture her when he wasn't even around for so much of her life. Slowly she stood and turned around to face her father. Her head having to tilt back to look up at him. "I am Son-Yuno Park!" she yelled with what courage she could muster. "A rookie genin who has drawn blood against an enemy ninja and saved a superior's very life!" Notably she omitted being the Kage's daughter and having aced the Academy Graduation Exam. For the former it was because that wasn't her power and for the latter tests seemed silly in the wake of real fighting. Tears of anger and frustration started to roll down her cheeks. There was so much she wanted to say to him. So much anger in regards to him not being here when it really mattered. "Who are you to question me when you're never around?" The question was stupid, but anger made one irrational. He was her kage and her father. Though right now none of that mattered to the girl in the way it should for a shinobi. It mattered to her in the way it does for a little girl. She was upset that he had missed her graduation ceremony. She was upset that he was not around to congratulate her on her first mission, even if it was just something dumb like cleaning up grafiti. She was upset that he hadn't been around to tell Kenshin off for arresting her. That she'd spent a week in jail because her father was too busy doing something else. Finally she ceased speaking and stood there crying. Her small form only adding to her child like demeanor.

The sound of a rooster calling echoed throughout the cave filled with shanty houses. The cry managed to rouse Reล from his slumber, and he slowly made his way out of bed, yawning the whole way over to his stove. As Reล brushed the tiredness from his eyes, he grabbed a pot from the sink and filled it with water from the faucet. He placed the pot on the stove, and turned on the burner. As the water started to steam, Reล couldn't help but think back to his time in the Academy when he was first learning how to Manipulate Water. From trying to boil and pressurize it with nothing but chakra, to conjuring it from nothing but the air around him. He had worked hard, even being as naturally gifted as he was. Reล missed those times in the Academy, when he was still with his family...
The sound of a loud sizzle shook Reล out of his daydream, and he realized the water in his pot had started to boil over. Taking a moment to calm the water down, Reล added the ingredients he had pulled from his ice box, and began adding them to cook up his favorite ramen. Outside of his window, the same annoying bird that pestered him every day had returned; fluttering just outside the window drawn by the smell of the cooking ramen, trying to find a moment to swoop in and steal some food.
"Not today, little one." Reล said flatly to the bird. "Let's see if I can get rid of you once and for all."
After a couple hand seals, Reล started to shoot water out of his mouth. He wasn't particularly skilled with the Fish Spit technique yet, but he was determined to try. The first 3 shots missed by a mile. The fourth came much closer, but he was still off. The final projectile managed to clip the birds foot, catching the bird off guard, and it flew away with haste. Pleased with himself, Reล finished cooking his ramen, ate, got dressed in his robes, and did some stretches. He was going to train at the dojo, and he needed to be limber.
As Reล locked his front door and started off towards the district nearby, he passed under the mouth of the cave and into the sunlight. He wasn't necessarily uncomfortable in direct sunlight, but he always preferred a colder climate. He would always miss Hidden Snow. As he strolled along, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being followed. He knew it was ludicrous, but he still felt as though he should check just to be safe. Luckily for him, it had rained the night before and so there were puddles all over. As he continued, he saw a small puddle coming up on his right. "Alright, let's see if I can do this" he thought to himself. He had practiced the Water Mirror Technique before, but his results had been less than ideal. As Reล strode closer to the puddle, he subtly performed the needed handseals, but nothing happened. Annoyed, he tried again. The water seemed to vibrate, but still not enough. Determined to succeed, he tried again. This time, his technique came through for him. The puddle seemed to glass over, and Reล could see a reflection of the sky in it's boundaries. Stopping next to it, Reล crouched down and pretended to fiddle with his belongings. As he watched the mirrored puddle out of the corner of his eye, he started to see a form appear, coming up from behind him. "I knew it!" He thought, almost outraged. With no more hesitation, Reล spun around standing with an arm outstretched brandishing a kunai mere inches from the person's throat.
"GAH! PLEASE D-DON'T HURT ME!" the person cried out.
It had taken Reล a second, but to his relief and horror, it wasn't another ninja trying to get the drop on him, but instead an old man with a great big, bushy grey beard. Reล immediately put his kunai away and gave a deep bow to the elderly fellow.
"I beg your pardon a thousand times, sir!" Reล started. "I had assumed you were a threat, not a feeble old man."
Apparently, that wasn't quite as polite as he intended, as the old man hit him rather hard on the back of his head with his walking staff.
"You almost gave me a heart attack young man! I'll have you know I'm not so feeble! I was a tournament champion in my day!" The old man said, scolding Reล.
The old man stormed off in a huff, leaving Reล to feel rather embarrassed and guilty. Even though the old man had given him a welt on the back of his head, even through his headgear, Reล felt he still needed to repent for his actions. Throwing together some hand seals, he tried to call forth a Water Clone. His first attempt was a failure. He could barely get the mist to take any kind of form. The old man had really thrown him off his game, for that was the worst atrempt he had ever had. Shaking his head to try to clear his mind, he tried once more. This time the water started to take form, but it fell apart yet again. This process repeated for what felt like hours. Reล had become hyper focused on trying to produce the clone. After numerous failed attempts, Reล crossed his legs and sat down. He started to meditate, trying to focus even harder. Trying once more, he performed the hand seals and took a long, slow inhale.
"Water Clone Jutsu" he spoke softly.
The air in front of him started to take form, and a Water Clone materialized in front of him. Opening his eyes, Reล gave his clone a quick look over.
"Excellent." He stated, still sitting down.
Without warning, the water clone cocked it's leg back, then unleashed it forward, catching Reล directly in his face, sending him tumbling backwards, eventually ending up on his back, arms and legs sprawled out on either side of him. The water clone broke down into pure water, and splashed all over the ground. "Justice." Reล thought to himself. While looking up at the sky, he suddenly realized that the sun was directly overhead. Great. He was running late. Yet again, his pride had sidetracked him and he had wasted time better spent training. With a quick kip-up, Reล landed on the balls of his feet. It was time to train; no more distractions. After taking a deep breath, Reล set off once more for the dojo to train and hone his skills. He still needed to become so much stronger if he was ever going to avenge his family.

Kenshin was a direct and forthcoming as ever with the girl he had seen several interactions with. It was clear he had little interest in her. Even more clear she had quite the opposite in him. Kenshin's offer towards Souta was promising for the boy, bringing him onto the force as he had Kojiro, even referencing Kojiro's desire to serve. Kenshin's voice, his tone, had changed considerably when addressing Kojiro. He could sense the difference in how he felt of people in the mild and subtle changes in his tone and posture. While he still was not sure what regard he held him in, it had to be better than some renegade vengeance driven swordsman that he once knew.
During the conversation, the girl was whisped away by her father. A thing that his eyes were barely able to pick up due to the speed of the action. Now it was just Souta, Todoroki and Kojiro with Kenshin.
