'Trees?' Her mind repeated this kind of puzzled. Trees were like first home, could they be so bad? She was about to ask further, but well Charming seemed to be having a moment. The elf averted her eyes to her drink trying to politely not hear the pair whispering, but with those ears it was kind of hard to miss. Grey eyes looked at Charming when he offered her the torch. "O-oh, thank you." Relief showed clearly on her face as she nearly hugged it to herself and followed with everyone outside and to the woods. As the light from the sun began to dim in the woods, the elf flicked the light on. The hand holding the light shook slightly and she inched closer to Charming, and held a bit of his sleeve. "S-sorry Charlie, h-hope you d-don't mind." This was good, she had a bit of calm, then squished up hugging Charming's arm at the sudden new voice. Realizing it was Rae, she carefully moved back off Charming, blushing and looking at the path ahead. "S-sorry. H-hi, Rae~"

"Just an hour or two, it's not that big area wise, just tall and dangerous sometimes."
Charlie answered Minty, trying to sound reassuring. The feeling of being watched, even though he'd known it was coming, had him on edge,
"And no, Prince, not too much time. It's not what you would call homey."
There were some worrying noises coming down the path from the village toward them. He slowed his pace and stared down the path, ready for anything. Luckily, anything happened to be one of his nearest and dearest.
"Rae!"
Charlie called to the newcomer, waving the princess over,
"So glad you could make it. Thank you so much for coming!"
The group seemed to be getting even more nervous the deeper they went. The woods were working their magic, but as long as it was just the tre-
A howl cut through his thoughts like a knife through butter.
Not just the trees then.
The howl was answered by another, and then another. The group was surrounded. Charlie took a deep breath and tried to remain calm. It was the wolves, worst of the forest monsters.
Real wolves weren't so dangerous unless they were hungry, but these wolves didn't resemble their natural brethren in the least. Giant hunters, they were sustained by the magic of the wood and killed for pleasure.
Glowing yellow eyes winked at the party as the predators flitted in and out of the shadows. Providing the group with only glances of the huge beasts.
Charlie, aware that Gigi had moved away, reached for her. Intent on his promise to keep her safe...and then...the wolves attacked.
(To those who have not yet posted in the rp, feel free to show up and join us. Just, you know. Pop in and do what you do to deal with the beasties.)

He needn't have worried too much about her moving away, the howl and appearance of eyes had her practically on him she was so close. Her voice came out a frantic whisper as she tried to watch whichever was closest. "Ch-Charlie, are those . . . n-no they're so much larger than regular wolves. C-can we reason with them?" It might sound silly to ask, but they weren't normal wolves. Perhaps they had reasoning abilities, even if it went no further than offer them something more appealing than the current group they had their eyes on. She was trying to think this out when the wolves attacked. The urge to bolt was strong, but there was Charming reaching for her. 'No you can't leave, can't let Charlie not make it to the mountain!' She wanted to hold onto him, but he probably needed freedom of movement. So she tried to keep behind him, and called out,"Please let us pass, we have to get Charlie to the mountain!" The elf braced ready to move or strike with the light if need be. Really she was no fighter and much to her own disgust was probably a grand hindrance right now. She had to try something though, so words were her attempt.
( *looks at flashlight, then sparkly hair, points light at hair* Gigi used Dazzling Gleam emotion_kirakira Sorry, couldn't resist. xp )

The minute he heard the howl, Xavier automatically reached to his waist for his sword, his hand closing around the hilt and offering a little comfort, despite the situation.
"You know Charming, next time there's a chance of being eaten by giant wolves, could you please write that on the invitation so we're prepared?" He asked sarcastically, trying to follow the few glimpses they managed to get of the wolves emerging from the shadows. All he could tell was that they were big, and they had yellow eyes.
Prince automatically went to shield Minty, although he knew she could probably hold her own in any fight, he'd much rather fight than her. One of the wolves lunged forward and Xavier swiped with his sword, he didn't have much choice. He made contact and heard a yelp, as the wolf jumped back, but Prince didn't know how much damage he had actually caused.

A familiar voice broke Tobias from that odd feeling of being watched for a moment. Giving a bow of his head in greeting, he smiled at Rae. "Hello Rae, my dear." That was about all he got out when movement was suddenly heard and in a number of directions surrounding them. His eyes working better in less light, he could see the large shapes of the wolves moving about. "Interesting activities indeed, Charlie.." His words were no louder than a murmur as he moved forward a step or two and locked eyes with a pair of yellow ones. He was aware of Charlie going for Gigi and the prince moving towards Minty. The smokey male could have chuckled as he pictured he'd probably be Rae's back up more than anything. Sure he was worried for her, but he also trusted she could handle this as he dealt with the one in his sights. Neither blinked as the wolf took a few stalking steps forward and growled. Not missing a beat, Tobias took his own step forward with a low growl back. The wolf gave a hint of hesitation as it watched it's would be prey offer challenge rather than flight. Ruby eyes shone with flames as the temperature around him dropped rapidly. The beast lunged at him, but he didn't flinch, what was the need? A yelp of pain came from the wolf as it landed where the prey should be yet found nothing solid. Instead it felt like being plunged into a frozen river, and the wolf quickly scrabbled away. No longer making eye contact with the strange cold creature and unable to shake the frozen feeling, the wolf backed up some more as Tobias gave another growl. "Pity you were not the alpha, might have made this quicker." Ruby eyes still flickered with fire as his gaze darted to the others. How many wolves were there and how were they going to get past them all?
((Heh careful Gigi, those wily trainers may try to catch you. ))

The princess briefly smiled around at everyone, glad to at least be among friends in such an unnerving setting. Gazing at each friend in turn, she fired off greetings one by one, turning to Gigi first. "Hello, darling. Looking fetching as always in your favorite colors.~" Next, it was Prince's turn. Royals must always greet each other when they meet, no matter how long they'd been parted. "My, Your Highness, it has been some time since we last met. I hope you are doing well?" Next, it was Minty's turn. Drawn in by that lovely shiny pair of goggles she was sporting, Rae gave a little curtsy. "Fashionable as always, Minty. A pleasure to see you again as well."
Saving the best for last, she turned to Tobias, smiling warmly. "Hello, sweetheart. Couldn't resist the call of adventure either, hm?" Just as she was about to answer Charlie, Rae caught wind of the howls and shuffling sounds of the wolves. Whirling around, hand immediately going to the short sword strapped to her compass belt, shrewd green-grey eyes surveyed her surroundings. Oh, it was only a pack of wolves, likely drawn in by the light of the flashlights. This princess was not going to be an easy meal, oh no. They would regret messing with her and her friends.
Since Toby and Prince seemed to be alright, Rae took her hand from her sword, raising both to shoulder level and activating her aura. No lethal action need be taken if it could be helped. Not on her part, anyway. Rae never killed if she could help it. With a whoosh of sound, like fire igniting, saturn purple and lilac light covered the woman's hands as she took a fighting stance. With any luck, she wouldn't have to face down the alpha of the pack, or so she hoped. Drawing her hands in towards her body, elbows sticking out on either side, she thrust them forward as a wolf charged. Summoning a gust of wind, the princess thrust her hands forward at the furry beast, palms extended.
The scent of cherry blossoms filled the area, and her eyes began to film over with the same color as the light of her aura around her hands. The poor wolf, having thought this tiny pink-haired female an easy meal, was blown right back into the depths of the trees, a little ruffled, but relatively unharmed. Staring down the other wolves around her, the princess again took a fighting stance, ready for the next attack. "Gigi, stay by Charlie. Toby, you're with me." They weren't exactly orders, and she knew she wasn't in charge, but all Rae cared about now was her friend's continued safety.

I had thought you were to busy to come. I was saddened, but made peace with the fact my departure simply did not fit into a princess's busy schedule. But there you were, hurrying down the path, your star shining bright. My cheeks hurt, I grinned so wide.
Dressed for adventure, my second favorite style on you (the first being dressed for comfort for sharing a blanket and a love of Miyazaki films together), you were ready for whatever we may face ahead.
My last journey made so much the better by your presence. I am so glad you could make it, my dearest friend.

Two or three hours didn't seem that bad. Things could be worse.
Aaaand...they were worse. Super duper.
Minty couldn't help but smile as Xavier placed himself between her and the wolves. She could have been exasperated. She was fully capable of taking care of herself, but instead she just felt cared for by someone she loved.
...but enough time for being mushy later. The rest of the group was already doing their best to drive the wolves off, even Gigi was making an effort. Minty's cotton-candy haired friend was sweet and kind, but the blonde was pretty sure if pushed, there was a lot of damage Gigi could do with that flashlight.
Rae and Tobias were busy with their own fighting techniques, and one by one wolves seemed to be driven back into the forest. Still plenty left. More than Minty found desirable.
She glanced over at Gigi again, and got an idea. Digging into one of her pouches, she pulled out an aerosol can. Holding her nose, she waited for one of the beasts to charge and...sprayed them.
The stench of skunky ammonia filled the area. The wolf that got it directly in the face was already yelping and retreating into the woods. She felt sure her traveling companions would wish she had found a different way to fight, but hey. Pacifist has gotta do what a pacifist has gotta do.

"Certainly, Prince. Next time I'm leaving for the last time I'll make sure everyone comes armed to the teeth."
Although Princes remark was warranted, Charlie couldn't help snapping at him given the stress of the situation. He was grateful when Rae barked out a battle plan, she seemed to know what she was talking about. And if Tobias was with her, then Charlie could relax and just focus on protecting Gigi.
A wolf lunged, Charlie puffed his cheeks and blew. The wind of his breath gathered strength and blew it off course, away from the group.
"We need some way of dealing with all of them at once. Any idea-"
Charlie stopped short as Minty's weapon of choice reached his nose.
"Really, Minty? Really? Why do you even have that?"
(You guys are making me feel like the puppet master with all these strings.

Really no one had to tell her twice. Staying near Charming was about all that kept her from bolting and hiding up a tree. The little elf was thankful everyone else seemed to have ways to deal with the wolves. Though effective against the wolves, Minty's attack had her covering her nose with one hand. "I-is anyone strong enough to make a barrier or something to repel them and we then run forward?" Well magic didn't seem to have made them intelligent in the way she had hoped for with a way to go about being reasoned with. Fine, new tactic. Picking out a pair of eyes from behind Charming, she aimed the light directly at them. Temporary blindness might at least help with stalling till something more suitable to getting them all taken care of could be done.

The tiniest hint of a grin came to his face hearing Rae. Giving a quick glance over at Charlie, he moved closer to Rae ready for whatever she might be planning. "You would not happen to have a hurricane in your pocket and the ability to control it, would you Charlie my dear?" The sweet scent of Rae's aura was suddenly overpowered by what Minty had used, but no time to fret over that now. They could all clean up later or something. Besides, if it worked, it was well worth dealing with. "Alright Rae, what do you propose we do now? Perhaps if we find the alpha and knock them back we might have a chance." He was going on the assumption that if the rest of the pack saw their alpha taken down a few pegs, they'd know to leave this group alone. However, if she or anyone else had a plan he was more than willing to listen.
((You've been so sweet, I wanted to offer some sweetness as well. I approve of this blush. ))
The instant she smelled whatever Minty was spraying at those wolves, the scent of cherry blossoms immediately grew stronger. "If anyone has a sensitive nose, I'm sorry!" she quipped, sending another wolf flying away from her with a stout kick the jaw with the heel of her boot. As many wolves as there were, this little group would never pick them off quickly enough before most, if not all, became a tasty snack for the wild beasts.
Ponytail blowing about from Charlie's wind, the princess decided it was time to take matters into her own hands. Addressing Toby, she turned to speak with him, knocking yet another wolf on its furry behind with a well-placed kick without bothering to look, Rae vocalized the idea that had just come to her. "Toby, I know you don't like light, but I'm about to do something very bright.." Reaching a hand behind her to unzip the Ifrit backpack strapped to her shoulders, batting aside yet another lupine enemy, this time with a swat of her hand, coupled with a bit of wind behind it, she reached into the depths of the backpack, pulled out a pair of sunglasses, and tossed them over to Toby.
"Use those! I don't have enough for everyone, so please cover your eyes!" Without further comment, Rae became quite still, holding up her hands to her face. Taking a deep breath, the princess turned toward the wolves and exhaled. Fire the color of her aura rushes from her lips in a great stream, filling the small area before her in the blink of an eye. Any wolf caught in that blaze is going to be singed rather badly. She's very careful to control the stream of fire, making sure no trees are caught in the crossfire. The fire forms a semi circle in front of her, blocking off the wolves with an impressive wall of purple flames.
Not usually one to take charge, Rae saw no other alternative but this. As soon as the flames had encircled the ones in front of her, she stemmed the flow of fire, fanning a hand in front of her mouth. "Ooh, hot! Excuse me, fire-breathing princes coming through." With that, she dashed over to the other side, where the others were still fending off the wolves. Even timid Gigi was doing her part in blinding them, which helped immensely. Taking another deep breath, Rae replicated the feat on the other side, making another semi-circle of saturn and lilac flames, connecting this one with the first. Now that they were surrounded by fire, only an extremely foolish beast would dare try to get past.
Heading back towards the center of the circle, Rae stood with her palms up, elbows on either side. Fire took all of her concentration to handle, and she had to remain very calm throughout this process, or the flames were liable to run amok. Little tendrils of smoke were snaking their way out of her mouth, though she kept blowing them away. After this, Rae would need a long, cool drink of water, and perhaps a snack. Fire magic took more energy than the other elements, and she wasn't as in tune with it as the others. The best thing the others could do was to stay clear of the fire, and hopefully the wolves would abandon them as a bad job and slink back off to wherever they came from. Hopefully..

Xavier coughed a little due to being in such close proximity to Minty and her aerosol bomb, he held his nose with his free hand and coughed to shake the scratch at the back of his throat.
Unfortunately that just encouraged another to charge and attack, and he held his sword up in a defensive stance, slashing as the beast drew close. Prince saw it's great yellow eyes charging forward, and then the wolf let out a yelp as he thrust forward, feeling his own sword sink into its fleshy side. He pulled out the sword with a tug, it hadn't gone that far in, enough for the wolf to know that he meant business. It yowled loudly and backed off into the shadows again, he could make out the shiny crimson blood on the end of his sword.
Right then, Rae told them to cover their eyes, and as much as he didn't want to considering it was then literally being blind during a wolf attack, it would probably be for the best. He sheathed his sword and closed his eyes, letting Rae do her work and not getting in the way.
