maui boy no ka oi JoyRose maui boy no ka oi Oi is literally best. Ka is a qualifier distinguishing a singular subject. No is a quantifying suffix which can be roughly translated to "indeed". Thus no ka oi when appended to a noun is most literally translated as "is surely the best". Awesome! And so indeed you are! Do you speak Hawaiian fluently? I remember an "Auntie" (I don't remember the Hawaiian term any more) used to come in and teach my third grade students Hawaiian language and culture once every week or two - delightful! Not fluently. Haven't had anyone around to practice with. The thing I have most difficulty with is vocabulary. Sentence structure and grammar I have down pretty well. I just don't know all the words in the dictionary yet.
LOL! I consider myself fluent in English, but I hardly know EVERY word in the dictionary! rofl |
