I must say I don't like these. They're fun and all, but they make faeries too cute.
Shakespeare started the trend. He made them sound... well, tricksy but less outright terrifying than they'd been in earlier ages. The Victorians went further with their Language of Flowers and their drawings of faeries dressed in petals, which still fuels our conception today. Disney more or less finished the job, and now most of them seem sweet and sparkly. A far cry from the sidhe!
But then, Celtic culture is my culture. Maybe I take it too seriously. Whee, I am Sparkly Twinkle Toes and I live in Dingley Dell!
