Roulin felt the young girl's hand smooth over his short raven strands but didn't react to it in any kind of way. His feet simply kicked away at the empty space before them while Aimee began break down more of her life to him. As his hair was matted by the girl, his eyes wondered in the darkness he'd made by placing his head against the fold of his arm. He wanted smile at her efforts and even take her hand as a recovering friend would, but instead, he sat there quiet and shy for moments more allowing her to go on. When she finished, he spoke out and his voice echoed against the tabletop. "My brother can only do so much just like my mom. Around the house, I feel that sometimes I get in the way. Not that I want to leave. I just want to help them get by you know? And you really think that? Best little brother anyone could ask for?" Roulin lifted his head partly revealing his light purple eyes and the growing smile on his face.
Hadn't it been for the girl before him, Roulin may have spent the day walking throughout the town with no goal or destination in sight. Like a ghost or a well dressed orphan. In this moment though, Roulin, not thinking about it at all, had something that would end those days for him. As the french girl went on, his head lifted until finally, his chin was resting on the curvature of his elbow. "Hmmm. I guess I've wanted a sister at one point or another," said Roulin jokingly as he lifted himself. "You're like me aren't you? You haven't had many friends...if you have they probably left or something. I like you Aimee. Because you want to stay. I'd like to be part of your family. Money or not, I want to stay friends because I want to trust you and know you. At least for a month. And you're welcome Aimee. The town is quiet, but we can find fun stuff to do if you stay." Once more, Roulin smiled and his eyes twinkled with the hopes of their future on them. After he took her hand in his and shook as if it all were a business deal, the server arrived with their confectionery beverages.

Aimee blushed as Roulin took her hand, smiling as well. The waiter came with their food and shakes, placing them on the table in front of them. He smiled at them and walked off, leaving them a lone. The red head stared at the waiter as he walked off, then looked at Roulin with a mostly red face that matched her hair. "He thinks we are on a date." The girl put her face in her hands, blushing even more. She seemed to laugh a little as she thought of it. It wasn't an improbable thought but she wanted to keep it as friends, specially since they have already bonded so well. Soon enough she looked at her milkshake and drank some. "This is really good."
The read head looked out the window and smiled happily. "This is like a dream come true. Also I plan on staying longer than a month. I think I would miss you to much if I left." She looked at Roulin. The girl stood and walked over to the other side of the table, sitting next to her new friend. She pulled her milkshake over to her and drank some more of it.

Roulin's eyes were attached to the tall glass of vanilla milkshake that he could already taste against the buds of his tongue. The apple pie as well as anything else he ordered besides that was declined. The server simply shook his head and smirked before setting down their drinks and walking away. He took one sip and hummed in ecstasy before pulling more of the frozen, creamy goodness of the milkshake. The experience was cut short though when Aimee said the server thought they were on a date. He choked, then coughed for a few as almost clear droplets of milkshake and mucus dripped from his nose. Quickly getting a dark brown napkin, he wiped his nose and nodded shyly then looked away from the red head before him.
All the while she spoke, Roulin simply stared out the window drinking more of his frigid vanilla treat. His face had become red from both the coughing at the thought of...that. As a ten year old, he still believed girls were another species that was both gross and strange in their own ways. It took Aimee sitting next to him to jar him from his spell of childish disbelief. When she sat, he glanced over at her from the reflection in the mirror and sucked the straw more ignoring the brain freeze that was ravaging him. When he stopped, sighed, and held his aching head, he said to her finally after a moment of silence, "Longer than a month? A year I hope. Maybe forever." And without realizing it, his small, slender hand entered her's and he softly clasped her hand in his. This, to him, was still not a date and never would be.

Aimee smiled happily and nodded, looking at Roulin. "Forever sounds nice." She began to blush as she felt his hand close around hers, bringing a warm sensation to her normally cold hands. Aimee looked out of the window and hid her face in her hand. This was what she wanted, a friend to just be there for her when she needed it the most. The little girl began to sip some more of her milkshake, closing her eyes as she thought.
The red head looked as the waiter came back with the check. Aimee took out enough cash to cover it and with a little tip. The man smiled and walked off again. leaving them a lone. "There. So after this will we begin our walk? I can't wait for you to tell me more about yourself." Smiling, the girl finished her milkshake. Aimee looked at Roulin, blushing some more as she looked at their hands.

Roulin continued to stare out of the window watching the sun go down beneath the buildings leaving only rays of sunlight behind. There was something in these moments for the kid who detested philosophy above all things. Thinking about it all, he tightened his hold on the girl's hand as she paid for the drinks. Turning to her now after his blush finally vanished, he replied, "We can go now if you like. I'm almost done with my milkshake anyway." After taking another drag from the straw, the young man released a cool-breathed Ahhhh the smiled at her graciously. He hadn't noticed their hands yet and probably wouldn't until she decided to move. With a smile, he motioned to the door with a nod letting her know that it was up to her to decide when they leave.

Aimee smiled and nodded, looking away at the door. "Alright. We can go now." She stood up and looked at her new friend. "You ready?" The girl's hand stayed in his, pulling him from his seat. The girl seemed excited to be with this little boy now, seeming to know that sooner or later something bad will happen. "So tell me something I don't know." She walked out the door with Roulin still in hand, trying to help him keep up with her. The red head began to walk down the sidewalk, knowing that soon enough he had to leave. She didn't want him to leave, she wanted him to stay. "I don't want you to leave. I really don't."

Roulin was tugged along with the girl but never lost his grip which at this point was voluntary. He left the restaurant waving to the cashiers that knew him by name now and to the little girl they'd just met thanks to him. Once outside, Roulin tugging at his coat lost in thought once more. He'd freed Aimee's hand from his and even felt like apologizing for holding it for so long so tightly. Thankfully, she began to ask questions meaning nothing at all was weird between them thanks to that.
"Something you don't know?" asked the young Italian. "Well, I fall asleep in class alot. You'll notice that later on though. I'm the fastest runner in my grade...I hate math and I can write pretty well. I know how to work a car thanks to my step-father." Roulin couldn't tell from the context if she wanted specifics, but he really doubted it'd have mattered anyway. His hands fell idly to his sides and he looked into the sky as the sun began to set on the winter day. "Yeah, I don't want you to leave either Aimee. You have video games I haven't played yet."

Aimee seemed to look away as he let go of her hand, blushing as she put her hands in her jacket pockets. The thoughts that went through her head were what would happen if he just disappeared, just vanished from side and left her a lone. Just as she did he said somethings about the video games she had, making her laugh a little. "Heh. You can borrow all the games you want, Rou. I insist." The red head nudged her friend's shoulder, laughing.
They soon walked by the park, making Aimee's attention go towards one of the trees. "I'll tell you something you don't know. I love climbing trees." She ran towards the tree she was staring at, jumping up to one branch and basically climbing all the way up the tree. The only thing visible was her red hair swinging in the trees. "Come up here. It's lonely up here."

The young child went from tugging at the loose strands his scarf had thanks to wear and tear to rolling a ball of lint around in his pockets. He was far from bored although his idle activities may have suggested it. When she laughed, he laughed along with her. While she was happy, he was happy and surely when she was met with sadness, he would be as well.
When they reached that park, Aimee took to a tree telling him that climbing them was a love of her's. Roulin himself had never climbed a tree before, but just from looking at it, he knew he could get up to where she was. What paralyzed him though was how high it was. Pressing his fingers together in a sheepish manner, he patted the tree and looked up at her red tresses that hung ever so gently from above. "It's--It's too high. I think I'll stay down here if that's okay..."

Aimee sat on a branch and swung down, holding onto the branch by her knees. The little read head saw the look in the raven haired boy's eyes, she knew exactly what he was thinking. Sitting up to the branch she was just a second hanging from, the little girl now climbed to a lower branch. She sat on it and smiled at her new friend, holding her hand out to him and reaching down. "It's not fun without you. I understand the height is kinda scary, so we will take it slow. Okay?"
This little girl new how kids operated already. She knew it because of the fact that she had to take care of one not so long ago. She understood his fear, the fact that it was a little scary to concur the fear of heights. Aimee knew this because her little sister had the fear of heights as well, not to mention the fear of getting hurt, emotionally and physically. This was her easiest way to connect to this new person she had just met, making his fears very personal to her.

Roulin's knees buckled and he shuddered when the young girl hung from the branch upside with just her knees. His hands went up in fear as if she'd fall and he'd catch her, but when she smirked down at him, he only swallowed heavily and sighed. Anxiously, his hands lowered and his face reddened in embarrassment. "It's not fun when I think you're going to fall and...hurt yourself. C'mon...." His lavender eyes wandered to the ground beneath him and only lifted when she spoke to him from the height of the tree.
"Mmmm. Fine, fine. But if I fall, heal me please, okay?" And with that, Roulin took the girl's hand confidently and began to climb upwards towards her. The first few steps were nothing until he slipped and almost yelped in fear. Only a whimper left his lips and he continued upward to a branch beneath the red head. Looking up to her with her hand still clutched within his, he slowly grinned, though he was still panting from the little scare. "Okay, I'm up here...I hope you're happy because I'm still a little shaken..."

Aimee smiled and helped the poor boy up. She caught him when he yelped, helping him to the branch below her. Listening to him for a second, she looked at him calmly, listening to the way his voice was and watching his movements. She could tell he was still afraid, which wasn't a surprise to the girl. "I understand. I thank you for at least trying." The red head slowly climbed down to the branch Roulin was on to comfort him, keeping his hand in her's and rubbing it with her thumb slowly. "I'll sit down here with you. You were very brave for concurring your fear." With that being said, Aimee decided to look out into the park to get his mind off the height.
"You see that playground over there?" The red head pointed with her free hand to an empty playground. The swings were going back and forth cause of the wind, the leaves rushing through the play equipment. "That is where I met my new father. I was swinging on that swing and the lady who was in charge of me was swinging next to me. Then my dad came up and started talk to me, introduced himself, and we went home." The little girl's eyes seemed to light up, remembering a happy memory after the sad ones that had just occurred less than two weeks before that.

Roulin looked from the branch to the ground below and inspected his distance between it and himself. It wasn't very far down when he surveyed the distance with a calmed mind and so armed with this knowledge, he wasn't so fearful of falling to the ground as much as before. The fear still resided. Looking above him at the little french girl, he nodded, his face still bearing an anxious expression. "Yeah, you're welcome. I've never climbed anything before so forgive me." After she descended to the branch to sit by his side, he smirked lightly and briefly before looking off into the direction she'd pointed out.
There was the playground she mentioned and the swings that swung in the wind as if they were being used by ghost children. The lavender eyed little boy nodded and hummed amiably as Aimee divulged more of her past and the significance of this location. "I can't say this place means anything to me. Not like it does to you anyway. If you don't mind me asking, were you happy when you learned that you'd be going to a real home and not some foster home? And how was your first day at your stepdad's house?"

Aimee seemed to think about it long and hard, her eyes on the swings as they went back and forth. n her mind she was trying to think about the words that described how she felt. It was a pot of mixed feelings so picking out several was already hard enough on her, while picking out one seemed almost impossible "It was... fun at first I do admit, but after a while, when it got to going to bed, I had to realize that I didn't have my balcony view of the country side anymore. That it wasn't going to bed my real parents tucking me in tonight. My little sister wasn't going to be sleeping in the bed next to me. So I guess it was a happy time that I wasn't going to get lost in the system and a sad time because of the reasons I was there now."
After saying that, the little girl looked at Roulin and smiled, just to smile. "I'm extremely glad you could make it to come over today. Most kids would run and hide." The little girl laughed a little, sighing because it was true. Seemed as though their lives were almost perfect when they were together, but knowing how bad it might be for her new friend when he got home made it hard for her to think about it. "So... what do you wanna do? Since I dragged you up this tree."

"Oh, I understand the feeling Aimee. Trust me, I've actually spent some time walking around this town alone just thinking to myself how I got here and would I have asked for anything different." Roulin's legs swayed in a pattern as they dangled from the branch he sat upon next to the french, red head girl. In her tone, there was little regret meaning that she'd have wanted it no other way. Furthermore, he smile and he next few words assured the young Italian that she was content with this here. Just like he, she needed someone to confide in and talk to and be with when there was no one else. After Aimee smiled, Roulin smiled too and began to run the top of the girl's hand with his thumb just as she did to comfort him when he finally climbed the tree. "I'm glad too," Roulin began as slowly, his hold on her hand weakened until both his palms were against the wood they both sat on. Looking around at the surroundings, Roulin noticed that the sun had vanished. It was obviously seven now and he had to get home. "Umm...I may need to be leaving soon to get back home Aimee. I'll be at school tomorrow to help you with the History project."
