I've not liked Amazon's approach to ebooks and ereaders. Starting with the fact that the Kindle doesn't support the international standard ebook format. You should shop around a bit before deciding for certain on the Kindle.

I have a Nook, and everyone always asks if it's a Kindle.

I was thinking of getting a Kindle, but ended up going with a Nook Simple Touch. I had figured Kindle would have a larger book selection, does anyone know if that's true? Even so the Nooks Simple Touch covers my needs sufficiently- reading, reading and reading without a glare which in turn is proceeded by more reading. People always ask if it's a Kindle too. Ha.
I believe I've seen the Invader Zim Christmas special, but it's been ages. sweatdrop It does sounds like an amusing way to ring in the holidays.

Silly is you in a natural state, and serious is something you have to do until you can get silly again
I quite like the Kindle personally. If I get the money I might get one myself, which would be fantasssticc. I'd definitely read more if I didn't have to always go to the library to get my books.

I just worry that the light from an e-reader type of device would give me headaches. But they do look cool, and it is a handy concept. I suppose they must have a dimmer function on those things by now.

You should shop around a bit before deciding for certain on the Kindle. That's why I want a Kobo instead of a Kindle. @Thal: Ereaders don't have backlights. It's not like reading from a computer screen. They use a technology called e-ink which makes it visually very similar to reading off a page, with the added bonus of low power consumption. The device only uses power when it is changing the image on the screen or when you're pushing buttons.

^^Psycha^^ [ Terra ] I've not liked Amazon's approach to ebooks and ereaders. Starting with the fact that the Kindle doesn't support the international standard ebook format. You should shop around a bit before deciding for certain on the Kindle. Why dont you buy an iPad? I don't know about Terra, but for me an iPad is out of the question for a number of reasons. 1. it's from Apple (shudder). 2. it's backlit, which makes it impractical as an e-reader due to eye strain, glare, and battery life. 3. I have a great Android phone. Why do I need a tablet? 4. did I mention it's from Apple? (shudder). I don't even want the newest version of the kobo because it's an Android tablet and well... my phone is basically a small android tablet. I've got my eyes on a kobo touch though. e-ink is the way to go.

I've decided against getting a Kindle. I don't think I'd actually use it too much, really sweatdrop I like having physical books, and... I don't know, if I got a Kindle it would probably be a Fire? Except eyestrain. And most of the textbooks I'm getting now are ones I actually want because literature and foreign language and whatnot. Instead I think I'm going to ask for Doctor Who and a French musical lol
Mmmm, 'nog.

wink
I've been keeping a fairly close eye on the reader wars, and have decided that, *so far*, the iPads would be the way to go for me. I still prefer bound paper, though. wink
