thunder hammer if I can get my hands on one.
i'm not familiar, but i'm guessing either a power sword that deals impact damage instead of rending, or a refluffed goremaul?

then i'd say slap power field on a goremaul and bump it up to very rare.

Hmm... seems I won't be able to use any cool armor for awhile cause of proficiency.

So... I'm going to admit, I don't understand starting XP and classes very well for this.

you can use it, it'll just lower your static defense while you do. you're easier to hit, as you're just clunking around in armor you're not entirely proficient with, but you're harder to hurt, because that armor you're clunking around in is still armor. once you get proficiency, you go from being relatively easy to hit and hard to hurt to being relatively hard to hit and hard to hurt. it might not be optimal, but i don't think it's a terrible idea, especially if you're interested in not being squishy.

as for experience and the class/feat setup, by my understanding is based on the warhammer fantasy RP's system and as i said to mongooseh:
Quote:
the most complex part is the point at which you spend experience. you start with 600xp (700 if you're human) and you can take up to two hindrances for 100 more xp each. page 14 of the pdf has a nice little chart explaining what everything costs in xp. you can only buy assets (unless you're a paragon) and improve backgrounds at chargen, so this is the point to do it. you can also not buy any feats that are not listed in your class or racial feats. otherwise, buy whatever. you don't have to spend all your experience right now, if you'd rather save some for special attacks or spell combos or something that you can't get at chargen, or if you end up with a weird amount, like 50 and nothing to spend it on.
you also can't buy skills, magic or sword schools not listed as part of your class, which i forgot to mention in the above.

I'm working on this... if I can't get it to work, I'll ask Mongooseh for a page in his guild o' stuff to put it in. If I can remember to update it.

depends on the armor. there's a table on page 226 of the pdf that explains how making artifacts out of items works.

very common items made out of magical material are artifact 1, very rare items made out of magical material are artifact 5, and the rarities in between fill out the artifact ratings in between.

i'm not sure what the lines that say
Melee: Two-hander
Range: Bolter
mean, are those weapon proficiencies?
you also need to subtract your AP from your static defense while in armor, bringing it to 1.

Right, forgot that. Doing so.

His static defense in armor is 0... unless it's just base ap and not the +1 from quality.
