Did I forget to sticky this? Or did someone unsticky it? I apologize if it is not sticky worthy. But given the amount of "did you know _insert terrible thing here_ about peta threads this guild has seen. I figured it would be good. Plus it's nice to have for new members who might not be aware.
If it was just me forgetting, I shall wait until this thread is finished.

I've heard a lot of controversy concerning the motives and morals Peta proclaims. They advocate for animal rights however there have been happenings here and there with them that stipulate a very dark facet to them. I recall hearing on the news some time back that they destroyed a mother cat and her kittens, throwing them in a dumpster as if they were trash. They justified it as being humane as the cat couldn't go to a home (something to that effect). Either way I don't follow Peta and I do not advocate for them. There's something strongly plastic and fake with their doings as well as quite depraved underneath it all. If you want a trustworthy band of animal rights advocates, join World Wildlife Fund.

I remember once when I was walking in a park in DC a PETA person handed me a pamphlet. I glanced at it, ripped it up, turned around, and yelled "IMMA GO EAT MY BURGER NOW. YUMMMMMM MEAT."

And the HSUS isn't much better these days! Contrary to popular belief, the HSUS is NOT affiliated with local shelters. For all of their commercials starring sad looking shelter animals, very little money ever goes to shelters. Most of the money goes to "operational costs" (read: executives' salaries) and political lobbying ... such as advocating the banning of reptiles as pets!
