Yaki: Oh man, I know where you're coming from. My family is very similar. They thought art would never make any money either so for most of my early life I was only ever told, keep it as a hobby, but never more than anything else.
But then I found out about animation! And how you could potentially make money. I told them this and when they saw there was no hope of me ever becoming a pharmacist they let me go the path that I wanted. Fortunately I've had friends around me that love art though. They would always encourage me.
I think your picture looks amazing, it's very visually pleasing. I can really tell that you love photography :')

Nuna: Thank you very much! I'll have to try out this way of painting soon!
Awe, yeah, I love seeing W.I.P's.... the funny thing is that I myself never think to really save the W.I.P's..... They always get tossed out XD;;

Kai: Haha, I think that's what a lot of people concentrate on when they draw, the head and hands. I also ended up running out of time to add the shadow contours since I was caught up in putting in details...

I wounder whats the most important thing to be focusing on though? is it the formes? your lines? the posing? the lighting? all of these elements are really important in my opinion... how do you choose which one is more important then the other xd
PostPosted: Fri Jan 28, 2011 4:16 pm

Hrm... I've always been taught that the gesture is the first most important thing.

But yes, I agree, all of those things is very important in making an amazing piece of art :O

@Gomeric: Wow, thanks! and you're lucky to have people who encourage you biggrin

@kai: thanks, this really been very helpful! sometimes I really struggle to decide which part of the photograph I need to crop and which I shouldn't. There're many different rules in composing *rule of the third, golden triangle rule, 3/4th rule etc.* which confuse me a lot! Is there any exact time when to use certain rule and when to use another? *I tend to use no rule at all when composing, if you like it, then shoot it! gonk *

@Numa: wow, really, thanks! well, I do love photography and arts, it just sometimes I don't have the confidence I need to make something good, and I think that it would be nice to have someone encouraging you when you're feeling down sweatdrop

@Om: thank you, I really appreciated that! Yeah, I'll try to keep focus! biggrin

hmmm well no theres no rule on when to use a specific rules, idealistically you try to use as many as you can to put the focus on a specific place. I suggest looking at your subject before you take a picture, look at its surroundings, the environment around him or her or it. Before taking the picture I would play around with the zoom or try looking at the subject from different angels with my camera. And try to apply as many of the rules as possible to that one pic before taking it. Usually when you take a picture you want to try to get the composition in at the same time. Its not something you really wanna adjust later by cropping.

My take on the little assignment. I definitely focus a lot on the face, breasts, and stomach more then anything else. I tend to obsess over those parts. As a result I ended up leaving out the feet (and almost hands) in both sessons... XD

Okay,so here`s the problem with the program I use.I can only use 3 colors, black, red, and blue, and only 2 at once. But the good part is that I can do animations biggrin

nuna // i did not have that pose website bookmarked but i sure do now O: thanks. and i love the idea for this thread ^^ i feel like i've fallen into a pattern of only drawing when I'm upset or when i get commissioned. its nasty and your attempt to pull us out of these ruts is inspirational :3

gomeric // i'm with you on the becoming-a-professional-student-if-i-were-rich plan XD there's just so much in life that we miss out on learning because we're forced into focusing on the important things like having money for food.

I`m using flipnote hatena. It`s a free app for the dsi.Besides,my mom would never buy me anything for drawing on the computer.Or a scanner, probably.

Yaar the Wolf You draw on a DSI? I'm impressed.I have issues just drawing in ms paint. There ARE free alternatives for the computer if you'd like to give them a try. The GIMP is an opensource drawing program that is completely free to use and has a lot of resources. Also you can get open canvas 1.1 for free as well nowdays.

I would also suggest giving the SAI trial a try once you become more adept at using computer based drawing programs. I personally prefer SAI for a lot of things I do, and use it quite frequently.

Kai Woot! Love to see you guys getting into this. X3

Inferno Well I certainly hope I can inspire you to join our ranks. XD Besides, drawing with other people is always more fun anyway. ^__~
