To explain my answer, let me give an example of a life that that concept wouldn't apply to. For instance, people who were badly abused as children, or continually malested or raped. Alot of those people end up with bad mental disorders, in some of the worst cases you have things like DID (Dissociate Identity Disorder, formally known as Multiple Identity Disorder). There are MANY other possibilities, the browdest and most commen of all in todays societies is depression disorders, and anxiety disorders. Most everyone will end up with depression at some point in their lives in todays society. Depression certainly isn't a happy thing to go through, and alot of those people will have all those things you speak of, and still be depressed.
Oops, sorry for typing so much, I'll stop now. LOL

You should also take into consideration what kind of happy you are speaking of. I can honestly say I am happy about one thing, and not about another. There are different aspects of peoples lives and alot of times you can't just say you are happy in general unless you ignore that other topic in which you are not happy.

Okay, my most three important things so far in life for me: 1. Become a computer programmer 2. Actually meet someone who won't judge me by the way I act and dress and like me more than a friend ^.^ (I've been wishing that for a long time!) 3. Get through my life being as weird, silly, crazy, imperfect, and happy as I am to this day!

"Ozumou"]Hi all, first attempt at a thread here. SO, from 3 different sources I have heard that all a person needs to make them happy is 1) Something to do 2) Something/one to love and 3) Something to hope for. Do you agrree? if yes, what are they? if no, why not? [quote/] No thats not all you need! If it were Y are orphans sad! they need families u kno! plus u need to be happy and content with yourself or ekse you wont be happy either!!!!!!!!!

well this pretty interesting way to look at things how ever its not really that true yes is you have everything else you need that is all that is left. though im not condeming the view of people who feel that this the correct but lets look at this logicaly. no ones happy if they are in horrible health i know i have hope someone to love and something to do but when im sick none of that matters im misserable no to mention someones own view of themself needs to be atleast ok for them to feel good if you find yourself repulsive your not going to find yourself happy you also generaly need the basics in life like food water shelter ( depending on where you live but in the desert in the summer time you dont have shelter i dont care if you have hope love and something to do your not gonna be feeling to happy when it gets to 115 out) so before you answer this question based off your own life please analize how you would really feel if you didnt have 1 a home 2 your health 3 food 4 self respect

I agree mostly.. smile
I think the ultimate happiness is to love someone and be loved back by them..and I mean true love...like marriage...but that's just how I find happiness..others might not share that idea..
every human needs something to do with themselves or what is the point in living? no one wants to just sit idly by for the rest of their lives...at least I wouldn't like that..
and yeah you need something to hope for cause if you run out of hope what are you gunna do? you need to have something to aim for, make a target...hope to acheive...so you can head in that direction...if you have nothing to acheive what do you do with your life??
I think you need other things though...well at least personally...one is friends...ones you can love and trust...and the other is a loving family...
