(Cool)
Matsuko began humming softly, like a kind of purr. Before long the sound began to come from all around, and she closed her eyes, listening. A soft rustle in the leaves, and she opened them again with a smile.
The red treecat examined May from a distance, then picked her way slowly toward them. Matsuko crouched, and Kesasha leaped onto her shoulder, running to the other one and rubbing her fur against the girl's cheek. Small black horns grew from her head and a pattern like white arrows ran down her back, the only distinction from the other treecats that now filled the branches. "You can touch her," Matsuko whispered, stroking Kesasha's chin. "She is really a demon?" May asked, looking all around as she reached out her hand. "She does not like to walk on two legs," Matsuko said. "It makes her uneasy."

"My name is Rayden you are safe here." he smiled easily breaking the chains binding her. "But your friends..." she began whimpering into a corner. She was very scared and afraid. She had been attacked by hunters and her homeland destroyed. They had taken her because the leader had wanted to sell her and the seller wanted her to be his slave. She wore a collar that had been placed on by the hunters. Rayden tore it off and threw it off into the forest. He knelt down on his knees and looked her straight in the eyes. "Whatever happened to you in the past I promise I will not hurt you. Please tell me what is your name?" asked Rayden polietly. He didn't want to scare the girl. "My name?" asked the girl. "Yes don't you have one?" asked Rayden. "I don't remember." "Amesia. Okay what can I call you until you remember?" asked Rayden. "I don't know." she answered. "How about Leana. It was my mother's name." spoke Rayden remembering his tragic story of how he lost his clan too. "Okay." she smiled. "Please will you make sure they don't hurt me?" asked Leana. "Oh course no demon hunters or Damien will hurt you as long as I'm around. Now come on get up. I have a few friends that maybe can give you so better clothes than what your wearing." he smirked at the slave clothes. He couldn't wait to see what she looked like cleaned up and in a ladylike outfit.:: "Oh." smiled Leana letting Rayden lead the way. Rayden followed his nose and found Matsuko and May quite easily. Picture of Leana.

Kesasha bared her teeth suddenly, sliding from Matsuko's shoulder and into the low bushes, watching with glowing eyes from a dark arbor. Matsuko turned to see Rayden coming through the trees, but her eyes went quickly to the cat girl. "Hello," she called softly, smiling a little. She stayed close by Rayden's side. The girls were human after all, and humans had taught her to be afraid. "Don't be scared," Matsuko said, beckoning her forward. "I am Rayden's friend, I won't hurt you."

::Leana grabbed Rayden's arm and refused to let go as she whispered.::
"Hello...." she wimpered.
"We won't hurt you." spoke May smiling at her. Leana wanted to believe them but after what she'd been through the only thing she was sure of was that she was free...
"My name is Leana." she whispered to them. She sensed their cursoity and also sensed Rayden blushing.
"Well my buddies thought it be funny to find my mate for me and well this is who they picked. I must say I going to kick Damien's butt the next time I see him. Well I was wondering if either of you two could have Leana here find some real clothes. All she wears now is rags...Stupid hunters." spoke Rayden.
::He never thought he be asking humans for help but he couldn't give Leana clothes, not ones that would fit her by any means.
"Of course we can help." smiled Matsuko trying to pull Leana away from Rayden but she kept her grim firm.

(The meaning of the name "Leana" means "to twine around")
Feeling her resistance Matsuko immediately released Leana's arm, her amber eyes still bright. There was a magnetism to Matsuko's smile that made Leana want not to be afraid, and Matsuko's touch was very gentle. "You can follow if you'd like," she said quietly, casting a glance at Rayden. "I promise we will not make you leave him." She smiled at Rayden's blush and led the way back through the forest.

::Matsuko led them back to May's hut. Leana stared at it clutching to Rayden.::
"Leana I can't go in with you. You have to let go of me." spoke Rayden.
"No...I might be captured again if I'm not near you." whispered Leana still shivering with fear. She didn't even remember how she had been captured, all she knew was Rayden had saved her from the bad cat Damien who had his way with her before handing her over to Rayden. Rayden had removed her collar and was trying to help her, she felt safe with him. She sensed warmth and comfort from his skin. She wanted to trust the humans but she didn't want to be away from Rayden.
"Please...stay with me." she begged him.
::Rayden sighed as he looked to Matsuko and May as for what he should do now.::
"You can come in Rayden as long as you keep your eyes closed." replied May figuring it out before Matsuko.
"All right." sighed Rayden closing his eyes as he was led inside the hut.
"He is here with you. Let go of his arm and we will help you into some nicer clothes." smiled May.
"Okay..." whimpered Leana. She was scared but Matsuko and May were friendly and wouldn't hurt her. She was beginning to learn that. She wondered had Rayden already found a mate. Is that why he had refused her at first? She wondered if it was one of these two. She couldn't wait until her courage came back and she could ask them all sorts of questions, like how to avoid demon hunters. The most important one of all was was she safe here?::
::May and Matsuko grabbed a nice blouse and a pair of jeans and handed them to Leana.::
"Did the hunters take your clothes?" asked May.
"I don't remember. I only remember what they did..." she wimpered. Matsuko put a shoulder around her and she shivered but the warmth felt nice and Leana knew Matsuko was a friend of demons, not an enemy.
"We won't hurt you, we are here to protect you." smiled Matsuko.
"Thank you." replied Leana beginning to see the kindness of humans and would soon learn that not all humans are demon hunters.

"I will teach you how to be fast, and run away from them," Matsuko whispered, so quietly that only Leana could hear. "I will teach you how to listen to the forest to know when they are coming, and I will find you a guardian that will keep you safe even away from Rayden, and never leave you. I will teach you how to call for help so no one can hear, but help will always come." Leana looked startled at these words and looked up into Matsuko's amber eyes. "You mean it?" she whispered back, afraid to believe it was true. "Yes," she replied. "You are my friend now."

"Thank you for your kindness." bowed Leana.
"Not a problem. I know the demon hunters are a pain to deal with but I also know how to avoid them." smiled Matsuko.
"Can I see him?" asked Leana.
"Rayden come on it, we're decent!" yelled May.
::Rayden entered and looked to Leana in her light yellow blouse and her blue skirt.::
"Wow. I knew you'd look better in real clothes." he smiled at her.
::Leana ran into his arms and embraced him. Rayden sighed to himself and embraced her back.
"No one will ever hurt you again, I swear my name on it." promised Rayden.
"So, Rayden was Leana the only reason you came back?" asked May.
"Basically. My home is within the mountains. I don't leave unless I have to. I usually have Damien and the other mountains cats bring me meat so I rarely hunt."
"Maybe your lazy." commented Matsuko.
"No, I hunt but it's safer within the mountain home of mine. You see their are hunters everywhere and they would love to get their hands on any of us." replied Rayden.
"Demon hunters are..." began Leana.
"They took me from my kin, they stole my parents away. They even took me as their servant. Then that's when he showed up. The cat named Damien. He saved me and then he used me just as the hunters had. Then he gave me to you thinking that you would use me again and the circle could be repeated." explained Leana crying.
"It's all right." whispered Matsuko.
"We are here for you." whispered May as they held Leana.

But Leana was still afraid. How could they stop the hunter any more than the others who had tried? Matsuko touched her shoulder lightly, sensing her thoughts. "If they ever come for you again, we will get you back. I promise." "Thank you," Leana murmured, feeling overwhelmed. The distant howl made Matsuko turn away, listening intently. It came again. "That can't be right," she muttered, springing for the door. "Goodbye everyone!" she called over her shoulder. They followed her out, but before they could ask any questions, Matsuko had begun to run--and vanished into the night, too fast even to see. ~~~

"May can you watch her for a week?" asked Rayden.
"Sure." smiled May.
"But Rayden, the hunters..." began Leana.
"No, Leana. You can't be around me. There is too much danger. If Damien or any of the other cats want you they could overpower me. You are safer here. Stay here. Please." begged Rayden.
"All right." whispered Leana.
::Rayden looked back as he was ready to leave and smiled back at her.::
"Besides a lovely lady like yourself wouldn't want someone around who couldn't protect you from the monsters. Espicially when in truth they are one of them. Goodbye Leana."
::The door slammed and Leana sat down in a chair opposite May::
"Does he hate me?" she asked.
"No, Rayden isn't like that. He just...well he is a very solidarity man. He seems like someone who just wants his alone time if you know what I mean. He doesn't hate you, as a matter of fact between me and you I think he likes you. I think he likes us all as friends but he's afraid to admit that Matsuko and I are good people. I have no idea what he has against humans but I'm sure there's a reason." spoke May.

Matsuko flew across the forest floor, leaves hardly daring to stir in her wake. The wolves were waiting. She stopped outside of the cave, peering into the dark as she ducked to avoid the low ceiling. We must leave here, Matsuko, said a growling voice. Golden eyes lit from the darkness as Noko's mother prowled forward listlessly. The demon comes. "What do you mean?" Matsuko asked. "There are demons everywhere." Nataalini prowled forward, restless, pacing. Small, arrogant, weak. They are not the same. They are not like her. "Who?" she whispered, frowning in confusion. She will hunt us, hunt everything, and we cannot stop her. But we sense her. She is returning, and we must flee or we will die. Noko crawled from the caves depths, whining at Matsuko's feet. She fell to her knees, wrapping her fingers through his fur as she hugged him tightly. "Where? Where will you go?" Far away, Nataalini replied, eyes flashing. Over the mountains of snow and ice and beyond. We dare not stay any longer. Matsuko was silent, looking at the familiar faces of the pack. The young, the old, the hunters, her friends. Come with us, Noko begged. Come away and be safe. She shook her head. "I don't belong there," she whispered. "This is my place." But what if she finds you? he wanted to know. What if she eats you and leaves your bones for us to find? "No one will eat me," Matsuko said. "No one can catch me." The mournful eyes of the wolves stared at her, for so great was the sense of doom that shadowed their senses. Matsuko was part of the pack. To leave her behind was to say goodbye. She will devour everything, as before. At the turn of the moon, she will move on. It has always been so. The pack moved from the shadows into the night, and Matsuko followed them. They circled around her, calling upon the only magic they possessed in a last, pleading effort to keep her safe. Their prints in the shallow earth glowed faintly as the stopped in a wide ring around her. As one they lifted their heads to howl, calling for the spirits to protect her. Matsuko felt strangely quiet as she watched them leave, heads low and ears alert for the slightest sound. Noko looked back as he left, his tail hanging limp. Matsuko met his eyes and they stared at each other until Noko could stay no longer. As he disappeared after the pack, she raised her own face to the sky and howled long and keening, the only voice of her sorrow.

::Rayden hunted Damien's meat in no time and was waiting for him to show his face. Just as he thought he wouldn't show he was there at the door. Alone?::
"Hello, Rayden." he spoke entering.
"You have my meat right?" asked Damien.
"Yes, it's all right here." I pointed to the stack of dead meat I had hunted.
"Good. Wheres' the girl?" he asked.
"I let her go." answered Rayden.
:: Damien got a fierce look on his face marched up to Rayden and pinned him against the wall using his right hand to choke his neck.;;
"You did what?!" he asked furious.
"She is not a toy Damien." I answered barely able to breathe.
"I gave her to you on a loan. She was yours to have for a week but that was it."
"Well she's gone now." I smirked glad that Damien wouldn't be using Leana anymore.
"Find her. Bring her to me or I'll kill you." demanded Damien.
"Kill me I don't care." I smiled knowing this would annoy him. I had no family at least that's what I told everyone but truth was Damien was my elder brother.
"Curse you." he stormed out of the cave after packing his meat and leaving.
"When I find her, she will be mine.
"If you find her."
"The girl if you truly let her go, she will come running back to you. She wants safety, she thinks you are safe if only she knew right little brother?"
"I told her I was one of the monsters. It's up to her whether she believes me or not." I answered.
"Hmm...same as always. A coward and a lousy hunter. No wonder you can't find a mate." stated Damien.
"I don't want a mate." I replied.
"What are you gay?" asked Damien now joking.
"No. I just won't go through it. Never again."
"You miss her?" asked Damien.
"Yes."
"She wasn't even your mate, she wasn't even related to you." stated Damien.
"She was special to me." answered Rayden.
"Whatever. I have me plenty of mates to spare if you're in the mod." smiled Damien.
"Never. I don't use people like you Damien.
"You should it's so much fun.' he smiled.
"Never, ever, never will I be ANYTHING like you brother. Go away and never come back." I demanded turning my back to him.

Matsuko wandered away from the cave on the hill, paying little mind to the path her feet took. It was one that she and Noko had often raced along. She was thinking her own thoughts and hardly took in her surroundings. A sound brought her back to sudden alertness. The snap of a twig, a shout? A smell reached her nose, that a of a carnivorous animal. A...cat. Matsuko could hear it easily now, moving in almost imperceptible silence in the trees. "Hello," she said unconcernedly, still walking. "You shouldn't hide in the dark. You'll hurt yourself." The setting under the moonlight was beginning to look familiar, and she realized that it was near the place she had first met Rayden, but she knew it was not him.
(She doesn't get captured.)

"Hello beautiful." smiled Damien.
"Who are you?" asked Matsuko knowing this wasn't Rayden but why did he look like him.
"My name is Damien. Do you know my little brother Rayden?" asked Damien.
"You're Rayden's brother?" asked Matsuko confused. She had sworn Rayden said he didn't have any family.
"Yep, that guy sure is a lazy cat and a lousy hunter." smiled Damien.
"He is my friend." spoke Matsuko sticking up for Rayden.
"Trust me girl, I've known him his entire life. You may want to befriend a real cat. One with skills, talents, and of course good looks." smiled Damien waving his long brown hair around his face and behind his back again.
"Whatever you say." spoke Matsuko.
"Tell me have you seen a female cat recently?" asked Damien.
"No the only cat I know is Rayden." smiled Matsuko.
"You smell of wolves, are you prefers a half breed?" asked Damien curiously.
"No. I must be going now. Thank you for letting me know your name."
"Wait don't go." begged Damien.
"I can tell you ALL of my dear brother's sercets if you agree to help me." smiled Damien.
(I figure you'll say no but I'll let you say it.)

(Why thank you)
Matsuko tilted her chin stubbornly. "He can tell me himself if he wants," she said, and bounded effortlessly up into the rocks. Damien could follow easily; that she knew, but she did not want to speak to him any more. She did not like him. She discovered a high cliff and climbed it thoughtlessly, settling cross-legged at the top and staring at the moon. One long, ululating howl rose deep in her chest, carrying out into the silence of the sky, and it carried all of her sorrow. As her breath waned she let the sound fade from her throat and closed her mouth. She would not cry again until Noko returned.
